How to combine PowerPoint presentations — NOXI blog cover: six ways to merge decks into one, scored from official pages, with a clean-up checklist

Disclosure: NOXI publishes this guide. NOXI is not one of the six merge methods it scores: it appears only in the clean-up step after the merge, where a combined deck is made to look like one deck. Every fact about the six methods was read on Microsoft's, Google's, Apple's, Aspose's and iLovePDF's own help, product or announcement pages on 19 October 2026, except one expired Microsoft message-center post, read in a third-party archive, and the criteria, weights and scoring rules are published so you can check each cell.

Quick answer: To combine PowerPoint presentations, open the deck whose design should win and bring the others in: copy and paste slides and pick Use Destination Theme or Keep Source Formatting, use Reuse Slides on Windows or Mac for local files, or import slides in Google Slides and download a .pptx. Then make it one deck: one slide size, one master, two fonts.

Merging three decks takes a minute. Making them look like one deck is the part that takes the afternoon, unless you decide up front which design wins. This guide scores the six methods people use on seven documented criteria, explains the 2026 change that made Reuse Slides stop finding cloud files, shows which theme each method applies by default, and ends with a seven-point clean-up checklist and a worked example that takes 34 slides from three teams to one 26-slide proposal.

In short

  • Joint top scoreGoogle Slides Import slides and PowerPoint copy and paste with Paste Options both score 88 of 100, for different reasons: free whole-deck import versus a .pptx that never leaves PowerPoint.
  • The 2026 changeReuse Slides in PowerPoint for Windows and Mac now reuses slides from local files only; reusing from cloud files is no longer supported, and Microsoft's workaround is copy and paste.
  • Which design winsDecide before you paste: the destination theme gives one look at once; keeping source formatting keeps each deck's look and its masters, which you clean up later.
  • Online mergersAspose's free merger returns a .pptx, but the guest tier takes 2 files of up to 2 MB each, and files are processed on its servers.
  • After any mergeSeven checks: slide size, masters, fonts, colours, duplicate slides, numbering and length.
  • CheckedVendors' own pages, opened 19 October 2026, plus a third-party archive of one expired Microsoft post. Documented capability, not a new hands-on test.

The verdict: which way to combine PowerPoints for which job

The right way to combine PowerPoint presentations depends on where the files live and which deck's design should win. The table names the method that fits each job best on the documented facts, with the condition attached.

Your jobMethod that fitsThe condition (from the vendor's page)
Stay in PowerPoint, any platformCopy and paste with Paste OptionsDesktop: choose Use Destination Theme or Keep Source Formatting after pasting; web: Paste, Paste and Match style, or Paste with Source style [3][4].
Whole decks, local files, desktopReuse Slides (Windows, Mac)Local files only since the 2025–2026 change; Insert All Slides on Windows; on Mac every slide comes in and you delete extras [1][2].
Free, quick, files in DriveGoogle Slides: File > Import slidesSelect Slides: All, and a Keep original theme box; download the result as PowerPoint (.pptx) [6][8].
Everything on a MacKeynoteDrag slides between two open decks' slide navigators, then File > Export To > PowerPoint; Keynote is free [11][13][16].
Two small files, no softwareOnline merger (Aspose)Guest tier: 2 files, 2 MB each, 50 slides per file; output PPTX; files deleted from its servers after 24 hours [10].
Nobody needs to editExport each deck to PDF, then merge the PDFsOne file to send or print; the slides can no longer be edited as slides [17].

Merging only assembles the slides: a combined deck carries every team's fonts, layouts and duplicate agendas until someone removes them, which is what the clean-up checklist below is for.

Decision figure with five starting points for combining PowerPoint presentations. If the result must stay in PowerPoint on any platform: copy and paste with Paste Options. If the files are local and you work on the Windows or Mac desktop: Reuse Slides, local files only. If you need it free and the decks are in Google Drive: Google Slides Import slides, then download a .pptx. If you work only on a Mac: Keynote, then export to PowerPoint. If nobody needs to edit: merge the decks as PDFs. Every route ends with the clean-up checklist.
Where the files live and which design should win decide the method; every route ends with the same clean-up.

What changed in 2026: Reuse Slides works with local files only

Since the change Microsoft scheduled for December 2025 to January 2026, Reuse Slides in PowerPoint for Windows and Mac reuses slides only from presentations saved on your computer; reusing slides from cloud files is no longer supported, and Microsoft recommends copying slides between presentations by hand instead. The dated record is below.

Message-center posts live inside the Microsoft 365 admin center, and this one expired in February 2026, so we read it in a public third-party archive [2]. Two Microsoft pages still disagree, one saying the feature retires, the other documenting it for local files [1][3]; this guide follows the post's last version and the current article, which agree on local files only.

If Reuse Slides is not working. The usual 2026 cause is a source deck that lives in OneDrive or SharePoint. Save a local copy of the source deck (File > Save a Copy, to a folder on your computer), choose Open a PowerPoint File in the Reuse Slides pane, and browse to that copy [1]. If you want to keep working from cloud files, copy and paste is Microsoft's documented route [2][3].

How we scored: seven criteria, one rule each, published weights

Each method is scored 1 to 5 on seven criteria, and the weighted total is the sum of weight × score ÷ 5, so a perfect sheet is 100. A point is awarded only for what the vendor documents on its own pages, opened on 19 October 2026; anything not documented scores as absent. This is a documented-capability comparison, not a new hands-on test of merge quality.

CriterionWeightWhat a 5 meansWhat a 3 and a 1 mean
C1 You choose which design wins20Keeping the source design and adopting the destination design are both documented options.3: only one of the two is documented. 1: neither is documented.
C2 Whole deck in one action15A documented "insert all" or select-all command, or a whole-file merge.3: you select all the slides and copy them yourself. 1: slide by slide only.
C3 Editable .pptx without conversion20The result is a PowerPoint .pptx written without converting the slides to another format.3: the slides are converted to another app's format and exported back to .pptx. 1: the result is a PDF, or no .pptx.
C4 Works with cloud files10Documented for files stored in cloud storage.3: cloud files must be downloaded and uploaded again. 1: documented as local files only.
C5 Free15Free, with no published file or count cap for the merge.3: a free web version, or a free tier with published caps. 1: a paid licence only.
C6 Your files stay with you10The method's most private documented route runs on your own device.3: in your own cloud account. 1: uploaded to a third-party service.
C7 Platforms10Documented on Windows, Mac and the web; a browser-only method counts as all three.3: two of the three. 1: one.

Why these weights. The two worries in the searches are "keep formatting" and "without changing format", so design control and an editable .pptx carry 40 of the 100 points. Whole-deck action and price carry 15 each, because they decide whether a 30-slide merge is practical. Cloud files, privacy and platforms carry 10 each: each rules a method out for some readers, and most readers can work around one.

How to re-run it. Open each source in the list at the end of this page, apply the rule column to what the page says today, and multiply. If a vendor changes a limit or a menu, only that cell moves.

The scorecard: Google Slides and copy and paste tie at 88

On the seven published criteria, Google Slides Import slides and PowerPoint copy and paste with Paste Options tie at 88 of 100: Google earns its points with a free, whole-deck import, and copy and paste with a .pptx that never leaves PowerPoint. Reuse Slides scores 76, Aspose's online merger 74, Keynote 62, and merging as PDF 54.

Totals out of 100: Google Slides Import slides 88, PowerPoint copy and paste 88, Reuse Slides 76, Aspose online merger 74, Keynote 62, PDF merge 54.
The two leaders tie on total but split on the details: Google wins on whole-deck import and price, copy and paste on a .pptx that stays on your device.

How each score was reached

  • Google Slides Import slides (88). Select Slides: All and a Keep original theme box (C1, C2: 5) [6]; files from Drive (C4: 5); free with a Google Account (C5: 5) [9]; browser (C7: 5). PowerPoint files are converted to Slides and downloaded back, with embedded charts and videos turned into images (C3: 3) [7][8]; files sit in your own Drive (C6: 3).
  • PowerPoint copy and paste (88). Both design options on Windows, Mac and the web (C1, C7: 5) [3][4]; you select the slides yourself (C2: 3); your own .pptx (C3: 5); PowerPoint for the web works on OneDrive files and is free with a Microsoft account, while the desktop apps come with paid plans (C4: 5, C5: 3) [5][24]; on the desktop, files stay on your computer (C6: 5).
  • Reuse Slides (76). A Keep source formatting box, Insert All Slides and your own .pptx (C1, C2, C3: 5) [1]; local files only (C4: 1) [1][2]; desktop versions only, which come with paid Microsoft 365 plans or a one-time Office purchase (C5: 1) [24]; on your computer (C6: 5); Windows and Mac (C7: 3).
  • Aspose online merger (74). An optional master presentation sets one style, but keeping each file's design is not described (C1: 3); whole files in, PPTX out (C2, C3: 5); uploads from your computer only (C4: 3); free guest caps of 2 files of 2 MB (C5: 3); "All files are processed on our servers" (C6: 1); any browser (C7: 5) [10].
  • Keynote (62). Dragging selected slides between decks is documented (C2: 3), which theme they keep is not (C1: 1) [11]; slides pass through Keynote's format on the way to .pptx (C3: 3) [12][13]; iCloud Drive, free, on your Mac (C4, C5, C6: 5) [15][16]; Keynote for iCloud cannot copy slides between presentations, so Mac only (C7: 1) [14].
  • PDF merge with iLovePDF (54). No design choice and a PDF result (C1, C3: 1); whole files, from Google Drive, in a browser (C2, C4, C7: 5); limited free processing (C5: 3); uploaded to iLovePDF (C6: 1) [17][18].

Where each method leads. Google is the quickest free route with a theme choice. Copy and paste works everywhere, keeps your own .pptx and is Microsoft's own 2026 workaround. Reuse Slides is still the tidiest desktop route for local files, with Insert All Slides in one click. Keynote is the free route for Mac-only teams. The online merger suits two small, non-confidential files, and PDF merging is right only when nobody needs to edit.

Keep source formatting vs use destination theme: which design wins by default

Use destination theme makes the incoming slides take the colours, fonts and layouts of the presentation you paste into; keep source formatting keeps each slide's original look and brings its slide master along. In current Reuse Slides and in PowerPoint for the web's plain Paste, the destination wins unless you choose otherwise.

Definition What is Use Destination Theme? Use Destination Theme is a PowerPoint paste option that adapts a copied slide to the theme of the presentation it is pasted into: its colours, fonts and layouts come from the destination's slide master. Content stays the same; anything formatted by hand on the source slide, such as a manually coloured box, keeps that manual formatting.
Definition What is Keep Source Formatting? Keep Source Formatting is a PowerPoint paste and reuse option that keeps a slide's original theme instead of the destination presentation's theme. PowerPoint keeps that look by adding the source deck's slide master to the destination file, which is why decks merged this way end up with several masters.
MethodDefault when you do nothingHow to get the other result

Reuse Slides (older support page)Kept the source deck's colours and formatting [3].Why old tutorials disagree with today's default.
Copy and paste, desktopChoose from the Paste Options button after pasting: Use Destination Theme or Keep Source Formatting [4].Paste Options also sits under Home > the small arrow under Paste [4].
Copy and paste, webPaste (Ctrl+V) is the default and adopts the current presentation's colour scheme and styling [3].Paste with Source style keeps the source styling [3].
Google Slides Import slidesGoogle's page does not say whether the box starts ticked [6].Tick Keep original theme to keep the slides unmodified; untick it to fit your presentation's look [6].
Aspose online mergerNot described [10].Upload a master presentation in the second upload area to apply one style [10].

When to choose each. Choose the destination theme when one deck already carries the approved look: a client proposal, a board pack, a session with a house template. Keep source formatting only for slides whose design must survive exactly, such as a partner's logo slide, and expect to delete its master later.

"Use destination theme is not working." Three causes explain most cases. The text was formatted by hand on the source slide, so it keeps its manual fonts and colours; select it and reset the slide (Home > Reset) to return it to the layout. The slide sits on a layout the destination master does not have, so PowerPoint picks the nearest one; apply the right layout by hand. Or the slide is a picture of a slide, which no theme can restyle.

Method 1: Reuse Slides in PowerPoint for Windows and Mac

Reuse Slides inserts slides from another presentation without opening that file: on the Home tab, open the arrow under New Slide, choose Reuse Slides, open a PowerPoint file saved on your computer, and click slides to insert them, or right-click and choose Insert All Slides on Windows [1]. Imported slides are copies, so changes to them do not affect the original file.

On Windows

  1. Open the destination presentation, the one whose design should win.
  2. In the thumbnail pane, click where the new slides should go.
  3. On the Home tab, in the Slides group, click the arrow below New Slide and choose Reuse Slides.
  4. In the Reuse Slides pane, click Open a PowerPoint File, browse to the source deck and click Open.
  5. Tick Keep source formatting first if the slides must keep their own look; otherwise they inherit the styling of the slide they follow.
  6. Click a slide to add it, or right-click any slide and choose Insert All Slides [1].

On Mac

  1. Open the destination presentation and, in Normal view, click the slide the new slides should follow.
  2. On the Home tab, click the arrow next to New Slide and choose Reuse Slides.
  3. Select the presentation to insert and click OK: copies of all its slides are inserted.
  4. Select the slides you do not need in the left pane (hold Command for several) and press Delete [1].

The Mac steps do not mention Keep source formatting, so on a Mac use copy and paste with Keep Source Formatting for slides that must keep their look [1][4]. The page covers PowerPoint for Microsoft 365, 2024, 2021, 2019 and 2016 desktops, with no web steps [1].

Definition What is Reuse Slides? Reuse Slides is a PowerPoint desktop command (Home > New Slide > Reuse Slides) that copies slides from another presentation into the open one without opening the source file. Since the 2025–2026 change it works with presentations saved locally; reusing slides from cloud files is no longer supported.

Method 2: copy and paste with Paste Options, on the desktop and the web

Copy and paste combines presentations in every version of PowerPoint: copy slides from the source deck's thumbnail pane, right-click where they go in the destination, and choose a paste option. Microsoft names it as the workaround for the Reuse Slides change [2][3].

Desktop (Windows and Mac)

  1. Open both presentations. In the source deck choose View > Normal.
  2. Select slides in the thumbnail pane: Shift for a continuous range, Ctrl (Command on Mac) for individual slides. Click the first slide and Shift-click the last to take the whole deck.
  3. Right-click the selection and choose Copy.
  4. In the destination deck, right-click the thumbnail where the copies should go and choose Use Destination Theme or Keep Source Formatting. If you pressed Ctrl+V, use the Paste Options button next to the pasted slides [4].

PowerPoint for the web

  1. Open the source deck in one browser tab and the destination in another.
  2. Select the slides, then on the Home tab click Copy.
  3. In the destination, right-click where the slides should go and choose Paste; click Allow Access if the browser asks for clipboard access [4].
  4. Pick the paste option: Paste (the default, which adopts the current presentation's styling), Paste and Match style, or Paste with Source style [3].

Microsoft notes that web copy and paste works differently from the desktop because of browser limitations [4]. PowerPoint for the web is free with a Microsoft account, with files in OneDrive [5]: the only free route that stays inside PowerPoint.

Method 3: Google Slides Import slides, then download a .pptx

Google Slides combines presentations with File > Import slides: choose a presentation from Drive or upload one, use Select Slides: All, decide on the Keep original theme box, and click Import slides [6]. To end with a PowerPoint file, choose File > Download and pick PowerPoint (.pptx) [8].

  1. Upload the PowerPoint decks to Google Drive. Slides converts .ppt, .pptx, .pptm, .pps, .ppsx, .pot, .potx and .odp files, among others [7].
  2. Open the deck whose design should win in Google Slides.
  3. Click File > Import slides, choose a source presentation from Drive or upload one from your computer, and click Select.
  4. Click the slides you want, or Select Slides: All.
  5. Tick Keep original theme to import the slides unmodified, or untick it to fit them into your presentation's look; then click Import slides [6].
  6. Repeat for each source deck, then choose File > Download > PowerPoint (.pptx) [8].

Know what the round trip changes: Google says embedded charts and videos in PowerPoint files become images and SmartArt becomes Google Drawings [7], so a chart slide comes back as a picture. Keep chart slides out of the round trip and paste them in PowerPoint afterwards. For a wider comparison of the two apps, see Google Slides vs PowerPoint.

Combining Google Slides presentations with each other is the same Import slides command, without the conversion step: open one deck, import the slides of the others from Drive, and keep or drop their themes with the same box [6].

Method 4: online PPTX mergers, and what to check before you upload

An online merger combines whole .pptx files in a browser: Aspose's free Slides Merger takes the presentations in upload order, can apply one master presentation's style, and returns a PPTX, but its guest tier accepts 2 files of up to 2 MB each and processes files on its servers [10]. It suits two small, non-confidential decks.

Aspose tierFile sizeFilesNotes on the page
Free (guest)2 MB250 slides per file; ads shown [10].
Free (registered)5 MB5Log in to extend the limits [10].
Premium20 MB20No ads; limits are defined per app [10].

The result is deleted from Aspose's servers after 24 hours [10]. A deck with photos passes 2 MB long before it passes 50 slides, so check file sizes first.

Before uploading a client or board deck to any third-party service, check who processes the file and where, how long it is kept, and whether your organisation has approved the service. Our checklist for confidential material in AI presentation tools lists the questions to ask and the redaction steps, and they apply to file mergers as much as to AI tools.

Methods 5 and 6: Keynote on a Mac, and merging as PDF when nobody edits

Keynote combines presentations by dragging slides between two open decks, and exports the result as an editable .pptx; merging PDFs combines decks into a single file that can be read and printed but no longer edited as slides. Use Keynote when everyone works on a Mac, and PDF when the merged deck is a read-only pack.

Keynote

  1. Open the PowerPoint files in Keynote: it opens .pptx and .ppt files, and briefly flags any font that is not installed on your Mac [12].
  2. With two presentations open, select one or more slides in one deck's slide navigator and drag them to the other deck's slide navigator [11].
  3. Check each moved slide's layout and fonts; Apple's page does not say which theme a moved slide keeps [11].
  4. Choose File > Export To > PowerPoint; Apple says these files can be opened and edited by Microsoft PowerPoint in .pptx format [13].

Keynote stays free: Apple said in January 2026 that Keynote will remain free for all users alongside its Creator Studio subscription [16]. Keynote for iCloud cannot copy slides between presentations, so merge in the Mac app [14].

Merge as PDF

Export each deck to PDF from PowerPoint, then combine the PDFs in a merger such as iLovePDF's Merge PDF, which takes files from your computer or Google Drive in the order you set [17]; its free plan covers limited processing, with paid plans for more [18]. Choose it only for a read-only pack, such as a board pre-read: every slide becomes a fixed page that keeps its own look and cannot be edited as a slide.

Decks with different templates and slide sizes: 4:3 into 16:9, masters and layouts

A PowerPoint file has one slide size for every slide, so slides pasted from a 4:3 deck into a 16:9 deck are made 16:9; check their content afterwards. Different templates arrive as extra slide masters, and each master brings its own fonts, colours and layouts, which is why a merged deck looks like three decks.

Definition What is a slide master? A slide master is the top slide in PowerPoint's master view that stores a template's theme, fonts, colours, background and placeholder positions, with its slide layouts underneath. Changing a font on the master changes it on every slide that uses that master; a presentation with several masters needs each one changed separately.
  • Pick the size first. Microsoft says PowerPoint cannot resize one slide within a presentation; all slides are the same size. If you change the size, choose Maximize or Ensure Fit on Windows and the web, or Scale or Don't Scale on a Mac [19]. Merge into the 16:9 deck rather than shrinking a 16:9 deck to 4:3.
  • Re-check every slide that changed shape. Diagrams, tables and photos from a 4:3 deck sit off-centre or leave empty bands; move them onto the destination layout's placeholders.
  • Count the masters. Open View > Slide Master and scroll the thumbnail pane: every top-level thumbnail is a master [21]. Three source templates pasted with Keep Source Formatting usually means three masters.
  • Re-home slides, then delete. Apply the winning master's layouts to the slides that came with other masters (right-click a slide > Layout), then delete the layouts nothing uses: click each one in master view and choose Delete on the Slide Master tab [21].
  • Fonts follow masters. If the deck keeps more than one master, change fonts on each master, because Microsoft notes a font change on one master does not reach the others [20].

The order matters: size first, masters second, fonts third; fixing fonts slide by slide before merging masters is how an afternoon disappears. For the design rules that make a single-master deck look professional, see our 15 design rules.

After merging: the seven-point clean-up checklist

A merged deck is finished when it passes seven checks: one slide size, one master, at most two font families, one colour palette, no duplicate agenda or contact slides, continuous slide numbers, and a length that fits the slot. Run them in this order, because each one makes the next one shorter.

  1. Slide size: one size for every slide.Where: Design > Slide Size [19]. Pass: one size (for example 16:9) and no content outside the slide. Fail: stretched diagrams or empty bands on former 4:3 slides.
  2. Masters and layouts: one master, unused layouts deleted.Where: View > Slide Master [21]. Pass: one master, every layout used. Fail: several masters, or layouts nobody uses.
  3. Fonts: two families at most.Where: Home > Replace > Replace Fonts, which swaps one font for another across the deck [20]. Pass: one heading font, one body font. Fail: a third family on another team's slides.
  4. Colours: one theme palette.Where: the destination theme's colours (Design tab). Pass: every chart, shape and text colour from the palette. Fail: a second blue on the finance slides.
  5. Duplicates: one of each shared slide.Where: View > Slide Sorter. Pass: one title, agenda, "about us" and contact slide. Fail: each team's agenda still in place.
  6. Numbering and footers: continuous and consistent.Where: Insert > Footer > Slide Number, then Apply to All [22]. Pass: numbers run 1 to N, one footer text. Fail: restarting numbers or three footers.
  7. Length: fits the slot.Where: slide count × your minutes per slide. Pass: under the slot, with room for questions. Fail: 42 minutes of slides in a 40-minute slot.

For the length check, our table of how many slides per minute gives a pace for each talk length; a proposal with figures runs slower than one slide a minute. Menu names are from PowerPoint for Windows; master-wide font changes are not available in PowerPoint for the web [20].

Worked example: three team decks into one 26-slide proposal

The worked example takes three fictional team decks through a merge and the seven checks, from 34 slides with three masters and six font families to one 26-slide proposal with one master and two fonts that fits a 40-minute meeting. Every number is calculated in the open so you can swap in your own.

Example Orbis Partners (fictional). Orbis Partners, a fictional consultancy, is pitching a network redesign to Vale Freight, a fictional logistics client, in a 40-minute meeting. Three teams built their own decks: strategy, operations and finance.
StepArithmeticDecision
InputsStrategy 14 slides (16:9, 38 MB) + operations 9 (4:3, 21 MB) + finance 11 (16:9, 64 MB) = 34 slides, 123 MBThe strategy deck carries the client-approved look, so it is the destination.
First mergeCopy and paste with Keep Source Formatting: 3 masters, 11 + 9 + 12 = 32 layouts, 6 font familiesThe deck looks like three decks; the checklist starts.
Slide sizeOne file, one size: the 9 operations slides become 16:9Re-place 4 stretched diagrams.
Duplicates3 agendas + 3 "about us" + 3 contact slides = 9; keep 3: 9 − 3 = 6 removed; 34 − 6 = 28 slidesOne agenda rewritten to cover all three parts.
Length28 × 1.5 minutes = 42 minutes > 40; cut 2: 26 × 1.5 = 39 minutesTwo backup slides go to an appendix sent afterwards.
Masters32 layouts → 1 master with 8 used layouts: 32 − 8 = 24 deletedOperations and finance slides re-homed on the strategy master first.
Fonts6 families → 2: 6 − 2 = 4 replacedReplace Fonts into the strategy deck's two fonts.
Before and after strip for the fictional Orbis Partners proposal merged from three team decks. Slides: 34 after the merge, 28 after removing six duplicate agenda, about-us and contact slides, 26 after cutting two to fit the slot. Layouts: 32 across three masters, then 8 on one master. Font families: 6, then 2. Running time at 1.5 minutes a slide: 42 minutes, then 39 for a 40-minute meeting.
The merge took minutes; the seven checks turned 34 slides, 32 layouts and six fonts into one 26-slide deck.

What Orbis would do differently. Pasting the operations and finance slides with Use Destination Theme from the start would have avoided most of the masters and fonts steps, because the slides would have landed on the strategy master. Only the six duplicates and the two-slide cut were unavoidable; they come from three teams writing three openings, not from PowerPoint.

Make it one deck with AI: Fix formatting or Beautify my deck

After merging, an AI design tool can do the consistency pass in one go: in NOXI you upload the merged .pptx to Fix formatting, which recreates the deck with consistent alignment, spacing and typography, or to Beautify my deck, which keeps every slide's content, slide count and order and improves layout, hierarchy, typography, spacing, colour and imagery. Each is its own flow; pick one [23].

  • Fix formatting is the closer match for a merged deck whose content is final and whose only problem is three styles: uneven margins, mixed fonts and boxes that do not line up. The six steps further down this page are this flow.
  • Beautify my deck is the choice when the merged deck should also look better than any of the originals: same slides, same order, improved design. Choose it on the home screen, attach the merged .pptx, review, then download.

Both return a new NOXI deck that you download as an editable PowerPoint (.pptx) with real text boxes and embedded fonts, or as a PDF. Run the duplicates and length checks before uploading, because both flows work with the slides you give them. To restyle the merged content to a brand reference instead, such as a client's template or a PDF of their latest report, Match reference is a separate flow: upload the style reference and put your content in the brief; our guide to AI presentations in your own template covers it. For a scored comparison of AI tools that restyle an existing deck, see AI to make your PowerPoint look better.

Combining decks in two languages

When the decks are in different languages, translate first and merge second, so every slide goes through the same translation and fit check. An English deck and an Arabic one also differ in direction, and one master cannot serve left-to-right and right-to-left layouts well.

  • One language per deck. Translate the minority deck before merging; our comparison of ways to translate a PowerPoint scores seven methods.
  • Both languages on purpose. Build two parallel decks with the same slide order; our guide to bilingual Arabic–English presentations covers mirroring and numerals. When you replace fonts, check the new font contains the script.

Three prompts for a merged deck in NOXI

These prompts cover the jobs from this guide in NOXI: the brief for Fix formatting on a merged deck, the brief for Beautify my deck, and a follow-up edit after either one. Replace the bracketed parts.

Prompt 1 · Fix formatting brief for a merged deck

This deck was merged from [three] team decks for [a client proposal to Vale Freight]. Make the formatting consistent across all [26] slides: one heading font and one body font, the same margins and title position on every content slide, aligned boxes and evenly spaced bullets. Keep every number, name and date exactly as written.

Prompt 2 · Beautify brief that keeps the story

Beautify this merged [26]-slide deck for [a 40-minute client meeting]. Keep the slide order and every figure, including [the cost per parcel and the annual saving on the finance slides]. Give the three sections, [strategy, operations and finance], the same visual language, with a clear section divider before each.

Prompt 3 · Follow-up edit after the pass

On slides [5 to 9], which came from the [operations] deck, use the same layout as slide [3] for every content slide, keep the diagrams, and shorten any title that wraps to a second line to under [60] characters without changing its meaning.

Build it in NOXI: six steps

These six steps run one flow, Fix formatting, on a deck you have already merged in PowerPoint, Google Slides or Keynote; a full deck uses about 25 of the 1,000 monthly credits.

Step 1 — Start free

Open noxi.ai and create a free account; no card is needed, and each account gets a monthly allowance of 1,000 credits.

Step 2 — Choose Fix formatting

On the home screen, open More and choose Fix formatting.

Step 3 — Attach the merged deck

Attach the merged PowerPoint file, up to 200 MB. Remove duplicate slides and backup slides you will not present before you upload.

Step 4 — Describe the result you need

Add a short brief, such as Prompt 1 above: the fonts, spacing and alignment you expect, and the numbers that must not change. NOXI recreates the deck with consistent alignment, spacing and typography; watch each slide being built.

Step 5 — Review and edit by chat, click or hand

Ask the AI to change one slide or the whole deck in plain English, click any element and say what to change, or edit text, tables and chart numbers directly on the slide. Check the result against the seven-point checklist.

Step 6 — Download or share

Download an editable PowerPoint (.pptx) with real text boxes and embedded fonts, or a PDF, free and with no watermark; or share a view-only or edit link with the other two teams.

Frequently asked questions

How do I combine multiple PowerPoint presentations into one?
Open the presentation whose design should win and bring in the others: copy and paste the slides with Use Destination Theme or Keep Source Formatting, use Home > New Slide > Reuse Slides for files saved on your computer, or use File > Import slides in Google Slides and download a .pptx. Then check size, masters, fonts and duplicates.
How do I merge PowerPoint presentations without changing the format?
Choose Keep Source Formatting when you paste, or tick Keep source formatting in the Reuse Slides pane on Windows before inserting slides. In PowerPoint for the web choose Paste with Source style, and in Google Slides tick Keep original theme. Each slide then keeps its original look, and PowerPoint adds the source deck's slide master to your file, so expect several masters.
How do I merge PowerPoints with different templates?
Decide which template wins, open that deck and paste the other slides with Use Destination Theme, so they take its master, fonts and colours; keep source formatting only for slides whose design must survive. Match the slide size first, because a PowerPoint file has one size for all slides, then delete unused masters and layouts in View > Slide Master.
Why is Reuse Slides not working in PowerPoint?
The most common 2026 cause is a source file in OneDrive or SharePoint. Since the change Microsoft scheduled for December 2025 to January 2026, Reuse Slides in PowerPoint for Windows and Mac reuses slides only from presentations saved locally. Save a local copy and choose Open a PowerPoint File, or copy and paste the slides, which is Microsoft's recommended workaround. Reuse Slides has no steps for PowerPoint for the web.
Is Reuse Slides being removed from PowerPoint?
Not entirely. Microsoft's message-center post is titled as a retirement, but its last version, from February 2026, says Reuse Slides on Windows and Mac desktops will allow reuse only from locally saved presentations, and that reuse from cloud files is no longer supported. The current support article documents the local-file steps, checked on 19 October 2026.
What is the difference between keep source formatting and use destination theme?
Use destination theme adapts a copied slide to the theme of the presentation you paste into, so its fonts, colours and layouts match the rest of the deck. Keep source formatting keeps the slide's original theme by adding its slide master to your file. Use the destination theme for one consistent deck, and keep source formatting for the few slides whose design must stay exact.
How do I combine Google Slides presentations?
Open the presentation you want to keep, click File > Import slides, choose another presentation from Drive or upload one, use Select Slides: All, and click Import slides. Tick Keep original theme to keep the imported slides unmodified, or untick it to fit them into your presentation's look. Repeat for each deck; to share a PowerPoint file, choose File > Download > PowerPoint (.pptx).
Can I merge PowerPoint files online for free?
Yes, with limits. Aspose's free Slides Merger combines presentations in a browser and returns a PPTX, but its guest tier takes 2 files of up to 2 MB each, 5 files of 5 MB with a free account, and files are processed on its servers and deleted after 24 hours. Google Slides and PowerPoint for the web are free alternatives that keep files in your own account.
How do I make merged slides look consistent?
Run seven checks in order: one slide size, one slide master with unused layouts deleted, at most two font families via Replace Fonts, one colour palette, no duplicate agenda or contact slides, continuous slide numbers, and a length that fits the slot. Fix the masters before the fonts, because fonts follow the master.
Can AI fix the formatting of a combined PowerPoint?
Yes. In NOXI, upload the merged .pptx to Fix formatting, which recreates the deck with consistent alignment, spacing and typography, or to Beautify my deck, which keeps every slide's content, count and order and improves the design. Both return an editable PowerPoint with embedded fonts. Remove duplicate slides first, because both work with the slides you upload.

Changelog

  • 19 October 2026. First edition: six methods scored on seven published criteria from official pages opened on 19 October 2026, with the 2025–2026 Reuse Slides change, a which-design-wins table, a seven-point clean-up checklist and a worked example.

Sources & methodology

How this comparison was made: every fact about a merge method was read on the vendor's own help centre, product page or announcement, opened on 19 October 2026, except Microsoft's expired message-center post MC1179161, which only a third-party archive still shows [2] (checked 19 October 2026 for every entry below; pages that render by script were read in a browser). Scores credit documented capability only and are editorial judgements by NOXI, which is not scored; no new hands-on merge test was run. Orbis Partners and Vale Freight are fictional.

Merge the slides with the method that fits your files, then make them one deck. If the merged deck still looks like three, NOXI can recreate it with consistent formatting and give it back as an editable PowerPoint, free.
