Disclosure: NOXI publishes this page and is one of the tools scored. That's why the rules, weights and the source of every cell are printed, along with where NOXI loses points.
Quick answer: Yes, Gemini can make a presentation, three ways. Canvas in the Gemini app builds slides on every plan and exports them to Google Slides or PDF; the .pptx then comes from Slides. Gemini in Google Slides builds a deck in your Slides file (English, paid plans). Gemini Notebook builds one from your sources, with a .pptx download.
Use Gemini when the deck should live in Google Slides and you already pay for a Google AI plan. Use NOXI when you need an editable PowerPoint with sources on the slides, right-to-left Arabic or your own template, at no cost. On seven printed rules, checked on 25 October 2026, NOXI scores 98. Gemini's three routes score 70 (Gemini Notebook), 66 (Gemini in Google Slides) and 64 (the Gemini app with Canvas).
In short
- Can it?Yes. Canvas ends in Google Slides or a PDF; Gemini in Google Slides ends in your Slides file; Gemini Notebook ends in a PDF or a .pptx.
- Free?Canvas slide generation and Gemini Notebook slide decks are on the free tier. Gemini in Google Slides needs Google AI Pro ($19.99 a month in the US), Ultra or an eligible business plan.
- LanguageThe Gemini app lists 70+ languages and Gemini Notebook 80+, Arabic included. Gemini in Google Slides generates in English only.
- Editable .pptxGoogle documents the Notebook download as a .pptx but does not say whether its text stays editable; we score it cautiously and print the alternative.
- The scoresNOXI 98. Gemini Notebook 70, Gemini in Google Slides 66, Gemini app with Canvas 64 (rubric of our monthly ranking, 25 October 2026).
- Not scoredDesign quality, speed, accuracy and Google's Drive, Gmail and storage bundle, which favour Gemini for teams already on Google.

Can Gemini make a PowerPoint? Yes, by three routes that end in different places
Gemini can make a PowerPoint presentation, but only one of its three routes hands you a .pptx directly. Canvas in the Gemini app ends in Google Slides or a PDF, Gemini in Google Slides ends in a native Slides file, and Gemini Notebook ends in a PDF or a .pptx download. From either Slides route, a .pptx is one Download menu away.
Asked "can Gemini make slides for me", most people mean the Gemini app: it is the route Google ticks for every plan, including no plan at all [4].
Route 1: the Gemini app with Canvas
In the Gemini app, Canvas is the side panel where Gemini drafts a document, an app or slides from your prompt or files. Google's Canvas help page describes collaborating "to create or edit a doc, app, slides, or code", then, from Share & export, "Export to Slides", adding: "You can also choose to export slides as a PDF" [3]. Google's announcement of 28 October 2025 says Gemini generates the slides "with a theme and relevant images" and lets you export the presentation to Google Slides [20]. There is no direct .pptx button in Canvas; the PowerPoint file comes from Google Slides afterwards.
Route 2: Gemini in Google Slides
Gemini in Google Slides works inside the Slides editor itself. Since a rollout that started on 29 June 2026, it builds a full multi-slide presentation from a description, under the headline "Create fully native and editable presentations with Gemini in Google Slides" [9]. Google's help page states two limits: "This feature requires an eligible Google Workspace or Google AI plan" and "This feature is currently available on desktop and in English only" [8].
Route 3: Gemini Notebook slide decks
Gemini Notebook (formerly NotebookLM, renamed on 16 July 2026 [26]) builds a Slide Deck from the sources in a notebook: your PDFs, Word files, slides, spreadsheets as CSV, web pages and more. Its help page offers "Download PDF Document (.pdf)" and "Download PowerPoint (.pptx)" from the three-dots menu [10]; the .pptx option arrived on 20 March 2026 [12]. On 21 October 2026 Google added a step-by-step creation flow with an outline you can review before the final deck [13].
The three Gemini routes side by side
The routes differ on where the file ends, who can use it and how far you can edit it. Google's own wording, unscored:
| Item | Gemini app (Canvas) | Gemini in Google Slides | Gemini Notebook |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where the deck ends | Google Slides or PDF: "Click Export to Slides" [3] | Your native Slides file, no export step [9] | PDF or .pptx: "Download PowerPoint (.pptx)" [10] |
| Who gets it | Slide generation ticked with no plan, AI Plus, AI Pro and Ultra; Workspace editions listed in 2025 [4][20] | Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, Google AI Pro and Ultra [9] | Users over 18 [10]; outline co-creation "only available for Google AI Ultra subscribers" on the help page, "all" accounts in the 21 Oct 2026 post [10][13] |
| Language | Gemini web app in "more than 70 languages", Arabic listed [5] | "desktop and in English only" [8] | "80+ languages", Arabic listed; you pick an output language [10][14] |
| Editing after generation | Prompt changes to the whole deck in Canvas; manual edits after export [3] | Refine "one slide at a time", edit any element, match the style of an existing deck from Drive [8] | Instructions on each slide; every revision "creates an entirely new slide deck" [10] |
| Sources | Deep Research uses Google Search by default; no citation on slides documented [7] | The plan lists the documents used as references in the side panel [8] | In-line citations in the notebook chat; slide placement not stated [16] |
The conflict on outline review is Google's own: the Gemini Notebook help page limits co-creation to Google AI Ultra, while the Workspace Updates post of 21 October 2026 says the step-by-step flow is "Available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts" [10][13]. Neither is a pricing or plan page, which would decide under our conflict rule, so both readings are printed.

How we compared: the rules of our monthly ranking
We re-applied the rules of our AI presentation tools ranking on 25 October 2026: seven criteria, fixed weights and written anchors, applied the same way to every row below. The four rows on this page are copied from the shared score table behind that ranking's November edition and our other comparison pages, with no cell changed here.
In-app messages are not official pages, for Google and for NOXI alike. Our June 2026 twelve-tool hands-on test (best AI presentation makers) is a different method and did not test Gemini's three routes as they are scored here.
| Code | Criterion | Weight | 5 means | Lower anchors |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| P1 | Editable PPTX export | 20 | An editable .pptx with real text boxes is documented on the free plan with no badge, or the tool edits the native PowerPoint or Google Slides file (no export step). | 4 = same export on paid plans only, or free with a badge · 3 = documented visible differences, substituted fonts or elements as images (also a .pptx whose editability no page states) · 2 = PDF or images only, or export via a third-party step · 1 = no file export |
| P2 | Editing depth | 20 | Four AI levels: whole-deck change, one slide, one selected element, your own template or brand kit as the style, plus manual editing. | 4 = three levels · 3 = two · 1 = only regeneration, or only manual editing |
| P3 | Research with sources | 15 | Web research documented and the source appears on the slide. | 4 = cited research, placement not stated · 3 = research or citations in the chat only · 2 = grounds on uploads, no sources shown · 1 = none |
| P4 | Import | 15 | PDF, Word, Excel or CSV, PowerPoint and images all accepted, with a stated size limit. | 4 = four of five, or all five with no limit · 3 = two or three types · 2 = one · 1 = text prompt only |
| P5 | Languages incl. RTL | 10 | Right-to-left layout documented, not just a language list. | 4 = a list naming Arabic · 3 = "many languages" · 2 = no list, or English-only generation with a multilingual interface · 1 = English only |
| P6 | Free plan reality | 10 | Free generation and editable export, no card, no watermark, stated monthly allowance. | 4 = badged export or small one-time pool (also where no allowance is stated) · 3 = free generation without PowerPoint export · 2 = trial only · 1 = no free use |
| P7 | Where it runs | 10 | Web, inside PowerPoint or Google Slides, and an API, MCP server or connectors. | 4 = web plus one of those · 3 = web plus desktop or mobile apps · 2 = web only, or a single host app |
The scored table: four rows, one rulebook
NOXI scores highest on these 7 rules, with 98 of 100. Gemini Notebook scores 70, Gemini in Google Slides 66 and the Gemini app with Canvas 64, all checked on 25 October 2026.

| Tool | P1 | P2 | P3 | P4 | P5 | P6 | P7 | Arithmetic | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| NOXI | 5 | 5 | 5 | 5 | 5 | 5 | 4 | 100+100+75+75+50+50+40 = 490 | 98 |
| Gemini Notebook (slide decks) | 3 (v) | 3 | 3 | 5 | 4 | 4 | 3 | 60+60+45+75+40+40+30 = 350 | 70 |

Arithmetic column: weight × rating summed; the total is that sum ÷ 5. "(v)" marks a cell that rests on a cautious reading of a silent page. Copied from our shared rubric P table, checked 25 October 2026.
Why each Gemini route scores what it does
Each Gemini cell rests on a Google page, quoted as we read it on 25 October 2026.
| Criterion | Gemini app (Canvas) | Gemini in Google Slides | Gemini Notebook |
|---|---|---|---|
| P1 (20) | 4. Export to Slides or PDF on every plan, no direct .pptx [3] | 5. Edits the native Slides file [9] | 3 (v). "Download PowerPoint (.pptx)"; editability not stated; Free tier "Watermark Removal: No" [10][15] |
| P2 (20) | 2. Whole-deck changes by prompt; no slide, element or template level for slides [3] | 4. One slide at a time, any element, match an existing deck's style [8] | 3. Whole deck and per-slide revisions, each creating a new deck [10] |
| P3 (15) | 3. Deep Research with Google Search; nothing on the slide [7] | 3. Sources listed in the side panel [8] | 3. In-line citations in the chat [16] |
| P4 (15) | 3. "documents, spreadsheets, notebooks, photos"; formats not named one by one [6] | 3. Drive reference files and a style deck; types and limits not listed [8] | 5. Word, PDF, CSV, PowerPoint, images; "up to 200MB" [11] |
| P5 (10) | 4. 70+ languages, Arabic listed; no right-to-left layout stated [5] | 2. "English only" generation [8] | 4. 80+ languages, Arabic listed; no right-to-left layout stated [14] |
| P6 (10) | 4. Slide generation with no plan; no stated monthly allowance [4] | 2. Needs an eligible plan; trial routes only [8][9] | 4. Free tier (100 notebooks, 50 sources each); no stated monthly allowance [15] |
| P7 (10) | 3. Web and mobile apps [3] | 2. Inside Google Slides, desktop only [8] | 3. Web and mobile app [10] |
Where NOXI's cells come from
NOXI's cells come from NOXI's product documentation and are scored by the same anchors. P1: the export writes editable text boxes and embeds fonts, Arabic included, on the free account, with no watermark. P2: whole-deck and single-slide edits by chat, a selected element, Match reference with your own PowerPoint or PDF as the style, and manual edits of text, tables and chart numbers. P3: decks started from a prompt research the web first, and slides with figures carry a source line. P4: PDF, Word, Excel or CSV, PowerPoint and images, up to 200 MB per file. P5: right-to-left slides, with timelines and tables mirrored. P6: 1,000 free credits a month, no card, no watermark.
NOXI loses 2 points on P7, where it runs: it works on the web and through a connector (the address is on noxi.ai/connect) [25], and the anchor for a 5 also asks for a place inside PowerPoint or Google Slides.
Why the gap to Gemini Notebook is 28 points
The 28-point gap between the top two rows comes from six criteria: the PowerPoint file (+8), editing depth (+8), sources on the slide (+6), right-to-left layout (+2), a stated free allowance (+2) and where it runs (+2). Import is level.
| Criterion (weight) | NOXI points | Gemini Notebook points | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| P1 (20) | 5 ÷ 5 × 20 = 20 | 3 ÷ 5 × 20 = 12 | +8 |
| P2 (20) | 20 | 12 | +8 |
| P3 (15) | 15 | 9 | +6 |
| P4 (15) | 15 | 15 | 0 |
| P5 (10) | 10 | 8 | +2 |
| P6 (10) | 10 | 8 | +2 |
| P7 (10) | 8 | 6 | +2 |
| Total | 98 | 70 | 8 + 8 + 6 + 0 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 28 |
Against Gemini in Google Slides the gap is 98 − 66 = 32 points, and against the Gemini app with Canvas 98 − 64 = 34.
Where Gemini ties, and what would change the totals
On these seven rules no Gemini route leads on any criterion, and two tie. Gemini in Google Slides earns the full 5 on P1 because it works in the native Slides file. Gemini Notebook earns the full 5 on P4 with its 200 MB sources and named file types.
- NOXI 94 if the connector is not counted (P7 = 2).
- NOXI 89 for a deck started from an attached file, because research and source lines are off by default then (P3 = 2: 490 − 45 = 445, ÷ 5 = 89).
- NOXI 90 if the in-product export notices (complex graphics can be kept as images) were counted as documented differences (P1 = 3). They are in-app messages, not an official page, so the rule that excludes other vendors' in-app strings keeps P1 at 5.
- Gemini Notebook 66 if its .pptx is read as pictures of slides (P1 = 2); 74 if Google documents the .pptx as editable (P1 = 4, watermark on Free).
- Gemini Notebook 72 and Gemini app 66 if a free plan without a stated monthly allowance is allowed a 5 on P6. That reading is applied to no tool in the table.
- Gemini in Google Slides: no open cell; 66 on every reading.
The order holds on every printed line. The lowest total printed for NOXI is 89, for a deck started from a file. The highest printed for Gemini Notebook is 74.
How to make a PowerPoint with Gemini Canvas, step by step
To make a presentation with Gemini Canvas, open Canvas in the Gemini app, ask for a slide deck, then use Share & export, Export to Slides. To download the Gemini Canvas presentation as PowerPoint, open it in Google Slides and choose File, Download, then the PowerPoint (.pptx) file type.
- Open Canvas. At gemini.google.com, below the text box, open the tools menu and select Canvas; you must be signed in to Gemini Apps [3].
- Ask for slides. Name the format in the prompt, for example "a 10-slide deck for a client workshop on [topic], one idea per slide". You can attach files with the prompt [3].
- Refine the deck. Ask for changes in the chat: tone, order, slide count. Canvas applies them to the deck as a whole [3].
- Export. At the top right of the Canvas panel, click Share & export, then Export to Slides; or choose to export the slides as a PDF [3].
- Download as PowerPoint. In Google Slides, open File, then Download, and choose the PowerPoint (.pptx) type; Google's help describes File, Download and "Choose a file type" [19].
Gemini Canvas presentation from a doc or a Deep Research report
A Deep Research report can become slides: open the report in Canvas, click Create at the top right and describe what to turn it into. Google's help says to "enter a prompt that describes what you want to turn your report or doc into", and that this feature "isn't available to users under 18" [3]. Deep Research uses Google Search by default [7], but no citation on the slides is documented, so copy the sources you need from the report.
Gemini AI presentation templates and themes
Canvas picks a theme for you: Google's announcement says Gemini generates slides "with a theme and relevant images" [20], and no Canvas page documents uploading your own template. For a house style, Gemini in Google Slides is the route that can match an existing deck (next section), or you apply your theme in Slides after export.
How to make slides with Gemini in Google Slides
Gemini in Google Slides builds a whole deck inside Slides from a description: open Google Slides on a desktop, start the presentation option, describe the deck, approve Gemini's plan and wait while it builds. It needs an eligible plan and works in English only.
- Check access. Eligible plans in Google's 30 June 2026 post: Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, Google AI Pro and Ultra, and Google AI Pro for Education [9].
- Describe the deck. In the side panel, say what you need; optionally add Drive files as reference material [8].
- Answer or skip the follow-up questions, then click Next [8].
- Review the plan. Edit the outline if needed and approve it; the plan includes "Sources: The list of the documents used as reference" [8].
- Keep the tab open while Gemini builds the deck, which can take a few minutes [8].
- Refine. Ask Gemini "to further refine the content one slide at a time, or generate additional slides", or edit elements by hand [8].
To keep your brand, use Match presentation style and pick an existing deck from Drive [8]. Business Starter is not on Google's eligible list [9].
For the full guide to Gemini inside Slides, including the free side-panel features, see our page on AI for Google Slides.
How to make a slide deck in Gemini Notebook and download it as PowerPoint
In Gemini Notebook, open a notebook with sources, choose Slide Deck in the Studio panel, set the format, output language and length, and generate. When it is ready, open the three-dots menu and choose "Download PowerPoint (.pptx)" or the PDF.
- Add sources. Up to 50 per notebook on the free tier, each "up to 500,000 words or up to 200MB for uploaded files" [11].
- Open Slide Deck in the Studio panel [10].
- Customise: "Select a format, output language, length, and sources", and describe the style and focus you want [10].
- Generate now or later. With the Review toggle from the 21 October 2026 update, you can preview the outline first [13].
- Revise with instructions on each slide, then Generate revised deck; "At this time, sources are not taken into account during revisions" [10].
- Download as PDF or .pptx from the three-dots menu [10].
Is the Gemini Notebook PowerPoint editable?
Google does not say. The help page and the 20 March 2026 post confirm the .pptx download but describe neither text boxes nor pictures of slides [10][12]. Open the file in PowerPoint and click a title: if you can retype it, the text is live; if the whole slide selects as one image, plan to rebuild it. We score the cell at the cautious anchor and print both alternatives (66 and 74) above. Our guide to Gemini Notebook slides to PowerPoint covers the conversion in detail.
Two more limits matter for client work. Each revision "creates an entirely new slide deck", subject to quota limits [10], and the free tier's plan table marks "Watermark Removal" as No [15].
Is Gemini's presentation maker free?
Partly. Canvas slide generation is ticked for users with no Google AI plan, and Gemini Notebook slide decks are open to all users over 18 on the free tier. Gemini in Google Slides is paid: Google AI Pro at $19.99 a month in the US is the cheapest consumer plan Google lists for it.
| Plan (US) | Price | Canvas slides | Gemini in Google Slides | Gemini Notebook decks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| No plan | $0, 15 GB [2] | Ticked [4] | Not on the eligible list [9] | Over 18 [10] |
| Google AI Plus | $4.99 a month, 400 GB [2] | Ticked [4] | Not on the eligible list [9] | Yes, higher limits [15] |
| Google AI Pro | $19.99 a month, 5 TB [2] | Ticked [4] | Eligible [9] | Yes, higher limits [15] |
| Google AI Ultra | From $99.99 a month [2] | Ticked [4] | Eligible [9] | Highest limits; outline co-creation per the help page [10][15] |
| Business Standard or Plus | Not checked | Listed in the 28 Oct 2025 post [20] | Eligible [9] | All Workspace customers [12] |
US list prices on gemini.google, opened 25 October 2026. Google Workspace prices were shown to us only in euros, so they are not printed.

"Free" has limits: Gemini app usage "refreshes every 5 hours until you reach your weekly limit" [4], and neither route publishes a monthly number of decks [15].
Can Gemini make a PowerPoint presentation for me for free?
Yes: make the slides in Canvas with no plan, export them to Google Slides, and download a .pptx from there, or download one directly from a Gemini Notebook deck. Both cost $0, within each tier's usage limits.
Can Gemini make slides in Arabic or other languages?
Gemini can generate slides in Arabic through the Gemini app or Gemini Notebook, which list Arabic among 70+ and 80+ languages. Gemini in Google Slides generates in English only. None of the three routes documents right-to-left slide layout, so check mirrored elements in an Arabic deck yourself.
The Gemini web app is "available in more than 70 languages and over 230 countries and territories", Arabic and Hebrew included [5]. Gemini Notebook "is currently available in 80+ languages", listing Arabic (Modern Standard) and Arabic (Colloquial Egyptian), with the caveat "Different features may support different languages" [14]. Gemini in Google Slides launched "in English (United States) only" [9] and its help page still says "in English only" [8].
A language list does not say whether the slide flips: titles aligned right, timelines running right to left, tables starting on the right. That is why rubric P gives 5 only for documented right-to-left layout.
Is Gemini good for presentations?
Gemini is good for presentations when the deck stays in Google's tools: Gemini in Google Slides edits a native Slides file, and Gemini Notebook turns a stack of sources into a first deck. It is weaker on the documented points that matter for a delivered PowerPoint: a direct editable .pptx, sources on the slides and right-to-left layout.
Each route suits a different person: Canvas for a quick free draft, Gemini in Google Slides for Google-first teams writing in English, and Gemini Notebook for research-heavy decks built from many sources.
Gemini vs ChatGPT for PPT
On the same seven rules, ChatGPT scores 90, ahead of every Gemini route. ChatGPT's PowerPoint add-in works inside PowerPoint and lists limited usage access on Free and Go, and ChatGPT Slides, launched on 16 October 2026 for eligible Pro, Business and Enterprise users, lets you "select the element, then select Request edits" [21][22]. Gemini's edge is the Google side: Slides, Drive and Gmail in one plan. For the assistant comparison see Copilot vs Gemini vs ChatGPT for presentations and, beyond slides, ChatGPT vs Gemini.
Gemini Canvas vs Gamma
On the same rules Gamma scores 83, above all three Gemini routes. Gamma documents support for right-to-left languages "including Arabic" and gives 400 credits at signup with no card; its free exports carry a "Made by Gamma" badge, and its export article lists visual differences in the PowerPoint file [23][24]. Gemini Canvas costs nothing beyond a Google account and ends in Google Slides. Our Gamma comparison goes deeper.
What the Gemini presentation maker Reddit threads ask
They ask where the PowerPoint button is (Export to Slides, then Download), whether the Notebook .pptx is editable (Google does not say), why Gemini in Slides is missing (plan and English-only rules) and whether it is free (Canvas and Notebook, yes).
What these rules don't measure
The seven rules score what a vendor documents before you commit, not how good the slides look, how fast they arrive or how often a tool gets a figure wrong. Several real Gemini strengths sit outside them, and for a team already on Google they can outweigh the score.
- The Google bundle. Gemini is already inside Google Slides, Drive and Gmail; Google AI Pro lists Gemini in Gmail and Docs and bundles 5 TB of storage for $19.99 a month [2].
- The file stays a Slides file. With Gemini in Google Slides there is no export or import step: the deck lives in Drive and is shared the way your team already shares files [9].
- More from the same sources. Gemini Notebook also makes Audio Overviews and Video Overviews from the notebook that made the deck [2][12].
- Scale. The Gemini app has passed 1 billion monthly users, so colleagues may already know it [1].
- Not measured for anyone: design quality and taste, speed, accuracy of generated figures, accessibility, comments and review workflows, video, quizzes and offline presenting. NOXI's in-product export notices are not scored either (the 90 line above).
Does Gemini train on my slides?
It depends on the route and the account. In the Gemini app, Keep Activity is on by default for users 18 or over, and with it on Google may use your activity to improve its services, including training generative AI models. In Gemini Notebook, personal data "is not used to train Gemini Notebook unless you provide feedback".
| Control | Gemini app (Canvas) | Gemini Notebook |
|---|---|---|
| Default | "If you're 18 or over, Keep Activity is on by default" [17] | Personal: "not used to train Gemini Notebook unless you provide feedback" [15][16] |
| With it on | Google "uses your activity to provide, develop, and improve its services (including training generative AI models)" [18] | Feedback may lead Google to review the full interaction [15] |
| Human review | "A subset of chats are reviewed by human reviewers"; reviewed chats kept "up to three years" [18] | Workspace and Education: "will not be reviewed by human reviewers" [15] |
| Opt-out | Keep Activity off: "won't be used to train our AI models, unless you choose to send Google feedback"; kept 72 hours [18] | Workspace and Education uploads, queries and responses "will not be used to train AI models" [15] |
| No-training chat | "Temporary chats are not used to train Google's AI models" [18] | Not applicable |
To switch it off in the Gemini app: gemini.google.com, Settings & help, Activity, then "Turn off" [17]. The privacy questions in Google's Gemini Apps Privacy Hub were updated on 23 October 2026 [18]; check them again before you upload client material.
Worked example: one marketing lead, two tools, no new spend
A team that already pays for Google AI Pro can make internal decks with Gemini for $0 extra. Client PowerPoints in NOXI cost $0 as well and use 5% of a monthly NOXI allowance. The routing follows each tool's documented strengths, not the score alone.
Step 1: her month of decks
Leila makes 6 decks a month: 4 internal decks in English that stay in Google Slides, and 2 client decks that must arrive as editable PowerPoint files, one of them in Arabic for a client in Dubai.
| Deck | Count | Must be | Route |
|---|---|---|---|
| Internal reviews | 4 | English, in Google Slides | Gemini in Google Slides (native file) |
| Client deck, English | 1 | Editable .pptx with sources on data slides | NOXI |
| Client deck, Arabic | 1 | Editable .pptx, right to left, Arabic fonts embedded | NOXI |
Step 2: the cost
Google AI Pro costs 12 × $19.99 = $239.88 a year, and Haddad Travel pays it already for storage, so Gemini's slide routes add $0. NOXI adds $0 too: 2 client decks × 25 credits = 50 credits, which is 50 ÷ 1,000 = 5% of the monthly allowance. Even all 6 decks in NOXI would use 6 × 25 = 150 credits, or 15%.
Step 3: why the client decks go elsewhere
Two documented rules decide it. Gemini in Google Slides generates in English only [8], so it cannot draft the Arabic deck. Gemini Notebook does offer a .pptx, but Google does not state whether its text is editable [10], and the client will edit the file in PowerPoint.
For the two client decks Leila uses NOXI: an editable PowerPoint with real text boxes and embedded fonts, Arabic included, and right-to-left slides for the Dubai client. When a Google Slides draft needs a client finish, she downloads it as a .pptx and runs Beautify my deck, the flow in the Build-it section below.
Step 4: the result
Two tools, no new spend: 4 decks a month stay native in Google Slides, and 2 leave as editable PowerPoint files. Leila sets a review date of 1 March 2027 to re-check Google's pages on Notebook's .pptx and on Gemini in Slides' languages.
Here are three slides from the deck NOXI built for this article's worked example, unedited.

Where NOXI fits: our pick for an editable PowerPoint with sources, Arabic or your template
NOXI is our pick when the deliverable is a PowerPoint file someone else will open and edit, when numbers need a visible source, when the deck is in Arabic, or when it must follow your own template. It scores highest on these 7 rules, 98 of 100, and it is free.
Describe your topic and NOXI builds the full deck; you can review the outline first. When you start from a prompt, NOXI researches the web first, and slides with figures carry a source line. You can also upload a PDF, Word, Excel or CSV file, PowerPoint or image, up to 200 MB. NOXI adds images where a slide needs one.
Upload any PowerPoint, PDF or even an image as a reference, and NOXI designs your new deck in that style. Ask the AI to change one slide or the whole deck in English or Arabic, or click any element and say what to change. NOXI has a full Arabic interface, right-to-left slides with mirrored timelines and tables, and four Arabic fonts.
Export an editable PowerPoint (.pptx) with real text boxes and embedded fonts, Arabic included, or a PDF; present full-screen, share a link, or edit together in real time. Your presentations, prompts and files are not used to train AI models. NOXI is free: no card, no watermark, 1,000 credits a month, and a full deck uses about 25.
Already have a deck in Google Slides? Our guide to making a PowerPoint look better with AI covers the redesign step in more depth.
Three prompts to use in NOXI
"Create a 10-slide client presentation for [client] about [topic]. Every title is a full-sentence finding, every number keeps its unit and year, data slides carry their source line, and the last slide lists the decision, the owner and the date."
"أنشئ عرضًا تقديميًا من 8 شرائح باللغة العربية لعميل في [المدينة] عن [الموضوع]، بعناوين قصيرة وجدول مقارنة واحد وخط زمني من [السنة] إلى [السنة]."
"Keep every number and slide in this deck. Turn slide [number] into a three-column comparison table, shorten every title to one line, and make the closing slide a list of three next steps with owners."
Build it: beautify a Google Slides deck in NOXI
To give a Google Slides deck a client-ready finish, download it as a .pptx and run Beautify my deck in NOXI: it keeps every slide's content, slide count, order, facts and numbers, and improves the design. One flow, six steps:
Step 1 — Download the deck from Google Slides
In Google Slides, open the deck Gemini made, choose File, then Download, and pick the PowerPoint (.pptx) file type. A Gemini Notebook .pptx download works the same way.
Step 2 — Open NOXI and choose Beautify my deck
Sign in to your free NOXI account at noxi.ai. On Home, choose Beautify my deck. Uploading a file needs a free account; no card is asked for.
Step 3 — Attach the .pptx and start
Attach the PowerPoint file you downloaded, up to 200 MB, and start the run. You can watch each slide being built on screen.
Step 4 — Check what NOXI kept and what it improved
NOXI keeps every slide's content, the slide count and order, and every fact and number, and improves layout, hierarchy, typography, spacing, colour and imagery. Compare a few slides with the original before you go on.
Step 5 — Edit any slide by chat
Ask the AI to change one slide or the whole deck in plain language, click any element and say what to change, or edit text, tables and chart numbers directly on the slide.
Step 6 — Export, present or share
Download an editable PowerPoint (.pptx) with real text boxes and embedded fonts, or a PDF, with no watermark. You can also present full-screen from NOXI or share a view-only link.
Gemini for presentations: FAQ
- Can Gemini make a PowerPoint?
- Yes, by three routes. Canvas in the Gemini app makes slides and exports them to Google Slides or PDF; Gemini in Google Slides builds a deck in your Slides file; Gemini Notebook offers a .pptx download since 20 March 2026. From either Slides route, File and Download give you a .pptx.
- Is Gemini's presentation maker free?
- Partly. Canvas slide generation is ticked for users with no Google AI plan, and Gemini Notebook slide decks are open to all users over 18 on the free tier. Gemini in Google Slides needs Google AI Pro at $19.99 a month in the US, Ultra, or an eligible business plan such as Business Standard.
- How do I download a Gemini Canvas presentation as PowerPoint?
- In the Canvas panel, click Share and export, then Export to Slides. The deck opens in Google Slides. There, choose File, then Download, and pick the PowerPoint (.pptx) file type. Canvas has no direct .pptx button; it can also export the slides as a PDF instead.
- Can Gemini in Google Slides make a whole deck?
- Yes. Since a rollout that began on 29 June 2026, Gemini in Google Slides builds a full multi-slide presentation from a description, after you approve its plan. It works on desktop and in English only, and needs Google AI Pro or Ultra, or Business or Enterprise Standard or Plus.
- Can Gemini make slides in Arabic?
- Yes, through the Gemini app or Gemini Notebook, which list Arabic among 70+ and 80+ languages. Gemini in Google Slides generates in English only. None of the three routes documents right-to-left slide layout, so check titles, timelines and tables in an Arabic deck before you send it.
- Is the Gemini Notebook PowerPoint editable?
- Google does not say. Its help page offers "Download PowerPoint (.pptx)", and the 20 March 2026 update added the format, but neither states whether text arrives as editable boxes or slide pictures. Open the file in PowerPoint and try to retype a title before you plan any edits.
- Does Gemini add sources to slides?
- Not on the slides, per Google's pages. Deep Research uses Google Search by default, Gemini in Google Slides lists reference documents in its side panel, and Gemini Notebook shows in-line citations in the chat. None documents a source line or citation printed on the slide, so add them yourself.
- Gemini or ChatGPT for slides?
- On our seven presentation rules, checked on 25 October 2026, ChatGPT scores 90 and Gemini's best route 70. ChatGPT works inside PowerPoint through its add-in, with limited use on Free and Go. Gemini fits teams whose decks stay in Google Slides and who already pay for Google AI Pro or a business plan.
- Does Gemini train on my presentations?
- In the Gemini app, Keep Activity is on by default for users 18 or over, and Google may then use activity to train its AI models; switch it off or use a Temporary chat. Gemini Notebook says personal data is not used to train Gemini Notebook unless you provide feedback.
- What does NOXI score on these seven rules?
- NOXI scores 98 of 100 on the seven rules checked on 25 October 2026, with 5 on six criteria and 4 on where it runs. A deck started from an attached file scores 89, because web research is off by default then. NOXI exports an editable PowerPoint with embedded fonts and is free.
