Best AI for Reports in November 2026: 11 tools scored, and the chart claim nobody will make

ChatGPT, Claude, Julius AI, Perplexity, NOXI, Gamma, Gemini Notebook, Copilot for Power BI, Notion AI, Copilot in Excel and Copilot in Word, scored on seven printed rules from a written report file and spreadsheet input to named chart kinds, sources in the output, slides, free export and where each one runs.

Best AI for reports, a NOXI blog cover: eleven AI tools for written reports scored on seven printed rules for November 2026, with ChatGPT first and NOXI fifth

Disclosure: NOXI publishes this page and is one of the eleven tools scored. That's why the rules, the weights and the source of every cell are printed, along with the rules where other tools finish ahead of NOXI.

Best AI for reports, scored on seven printed rules on 2 November 2026: ChatGPT leads with 86 of 100, then Claude 79, Julius AI 70, Perplexity 67 and NOXI 67, fifth of eleven. Perplexity takes the tie-break because its own page names DOCX and PDF, while NOXI makes a deck.

A report is a document. That one sentence decides most of this table, and the twenty-tool roundups skip it. Half the products people recommend for "reports" write into a dashboard, a notebook or a chat window and never name a file you can hand to a funder.

So the rules below ask for the file first, then for what a report needs around it: your spreadsheet read, chart kinds named, sources inside the output, slides as well as prose, a free tier that exports, and somewhere to work other than one browser tab. Eleven products are scored, four finish ahead of NOXI, and the reason is printed as a fact.

Best AI for reports: the eleven at a glance

On seven documented rules checked on 2 November 2026, ChatGPT scores 86 of 100, Claude 79 and Julius AI 70, with nineteen points between first and fifth.

Where other tools finish ahead of NOXI, plainly. NOXI is fifth of eleven on 70 of the 105 points available, which is 67 of 100. ChatGPT is twenty raw points ahead, Claude thirteen, Julius AI three, and Perplexity is level on points and ahead on the printed tie-break. That tie-break is the first rule in the chain, the written report document: Perplexity's help page names DOCX and PDF among the files it creates, and NOXI's output is a deck, so its PDF is a PDF of slides and the document rule scores zero. NOXI takes full marks on four of the seven rules: spreadsheets read with the formats named, twelve chart types named, a source line on data slides for prompt-started decks, and a free tier that exports an editable .pptx with no card and no watermark.

Stacked bar chart of eleven AI tools for reports scored on seven rules worth 105 points, printed as a score out of 100: ChatGPT 86, Claude 79, Julius AI 70, Perplexity 67, NOXI 67, Gamma 61, Gemini Notebook 57, Copilot for Power BI 30, Notion AI 30, Copilot in Excel 27 and Copilot in Word 16, with the twenty-five point written-document segment shaded first in every bar.
The first segment is the written document, twenty five of the 105 points. Four rows take it in full, and that is what the Perplexity tie-break turns on.

Who should pick what

Six needs point to six tools, and five of them are not ours.

  • If you need the written report as a file then ChatGPT, whose deep research article says you can download completed reports "in multiple formats, including Markdown, Word, and PDF" [2].
  • If the citations must sit inside the file then Perplexity, whose help centre says "Every document automatically includes Perplexity-grade citations and research", and budget for a paid plan, because file creation is paid [5].
  • If you want the document without paying then Claude, whose page names "Excel spreadsheets (.xlsx), PowerPoint presentations (.pptx), Word documents (.docx), and PDF files" and runs file creation on the free plan [3].
  • If the analysis and the report belong in one place then Julius AI, whose presentation page says of its free account "This works on the free plan too." [4].
  • If the report lives in a Power BI semantic model then Copilot for Power BI, and read the licence line first: "Paid Fabric capacity (F2 or higher) or Power BI Premium (P1 or higher)." [8].
  • If the deliverable is really a deck built from your numbers then NOXI: files up to 200 MB in, twelve named chart types, an editable PowerPoint out, free with no card [1].

In short

  • The leaderChatGPT, 86 of 100, because two OpenAI pages name a report file and the citations that travel in it.
  • Where NOXI sitsFifth of eleven on 67, level with Perplexity, behind it on the written-document rule, with full marks on four of seven.
  • The negative findingOf eighteen vendor sites opened on 2 November 2026, none says a chart stays editable after export. Gamma says the opposite in writing.
  • MethodDocumented capability from official pages opened on 2 November 2026. Not a new hands-on test.

A report is a document: why this ranking keeps the file and the deck apart

Four of the eleven rows name a written report file, and that is the largest divide in the table. Everything else can be excellent while this one thing is missing, and the reader who needs a .docx finds out at the worst moment.

Definition Report. Here a report is a written document you can take away: a file in a named format, or a document surface inside the product that the vendor describes in writing. A dashboard is not a report, a chat answer is not a report, and a deck is a deck.

The four rows that name a file name different ones. ChatGPT's deep research article names Markdown, Word and PDF, and its ChatGPT Work article adds "Start with a Word document (.docx), Excel workbook (.xlsx), PowerPoint presentation (.pptx)" and native Google Docs. Claude names .xlsx, .pptx, .docx and PDF. Perplexity names "Document Files: DOCX, PDF". Gamma documents a written doc alongside a deck, and its export article names PDF among the files it produces. Five rows describe a document surface and name no download format, which is the twelve-point middle level: Julius AI, Gemini Notebook, Copilot for Power BI, Notion AI and Copilot in Word.

NOXI sits at zero here, and it is worth being exact about why. NOXI builds a deck. Its downloads are an editable PowerPoint file and a PDF, and that PDF is a PDF of slides, not a report in prose. Our product record describes a deck output, so the cell is zero and stays zero. If your deliverable is the deck, that zero costs you nothing; if it is a Word file, start elsewhere and come back for the slides. Our guide to the project status report presentation covers the one report type that is usually a deck from the start.

How we scored: seven rules, 105 points, printed in full

Seven rules, 105 points available, and the score is that total as a percentage, so every number on this page is out of 100 and the raw points are printed beside it.

Method Scored on documented capability from official vendor pages opened on 2 November 2026. Not a new hands-on test. Every page was read signed out, with no cookie banner accepted and nothing bought. A cell scores zero only where an official page was opened and does not document the feature. Where a vendor's own pages disagree, the pricing page decides. Seven rules, 105 points available; the score is that total as a percentage. No weight was moved, and the order is identical on either scale.
CodeCriterion (points)The rule, identical for every tool
N1A written report document you can take away (25)25 = the vendor names the document file format it produces, such as docx, pdf or Google Docs · 12 = it writes into a document inside its own product with no export format named · 0 = no written document output documented
N2Reads a spreadsheet or CSV (15)15 = spreadsheet or CSV input documented with the formats named · 8 = import from one source only, or pasted data · 0 = not documented
N3Charts in the output, with the kinds named (15)15 = three or more chart kinds named on an official page · 8 = charts documented, kinds not named · 0 = not documented
N4Sources in the output (15)15 = the vendor documents citations inside the thing it produces · 8 = sources shown in the answer but not in the file · 0 = not documented
N5Slides as well as a document (10)10 = both documented on official pages · 5 = one of the two · 0 = neither
N6A free tier that can export (15)15 = free export documented, with a format named and no vendor branding · 8 = free export with branding, a small quota, or a licence needed for part of it · 0 = export needs a paid plan
N7Where it runs (10)10 = the web, plus somewhere other than the browser, plus a connector or an API · 5 = two of those three · 0 = one

The five readings that settle the close cells

Five clauses decide every borderline cell, applied to NOXI as to the other ten.

  • N1 wants a file for prose: docx, pdf, Markdown or Google Docs. A deck file is not a written document, and a page describing a document surface with no file format scores 12.
  • N3 wants kinds, not a category. Bar, line, pie and scatter are kinds. "Charts", "graphs" and "data visualizations" name no kind, and a PivotTable is not a chart kind.
  • N4 follows the output. Where a tool produces no file, the thing it produces is its in-product report, so a documented citation there scores the full 15.
  • N6 needs an export to exist. Where no export is documented there is no free export to score, so the cell is 0 rather than 8. Free export with a documented badge on it is 8.
  • N7 counts three places: the web, then somewhere other than the browser, such as a desktop or phone app or an add-in inside Word, Excel or Google Docs, then a connector or an API. The web alone is 0.

The tie-break chain, printed: N1, then N3, then N6, then N2, then table order. Perplexity 70 and NOXI 70 is settled at the first link, twenty five against zero. Copilot for Power BI 32 and Notion AI 32 runs to N2, because N1, N3 and N6 all tie, and the semantic model takes it fifteen to nothing.

One fairness note. Every competitor cell rests on that vendor's own page, with the quote and the opening time. NOXI's cells rest on our internal product audit, the document that tells us to score ourselves zero on the first rule.

The gaps between the rows you will actually compare

Not one of the gaps below is a single rule.

  • ChatGPT 90 minus Claude 83 = 7, made of N3 plus 7 and N4 plus 15, against N6 minus 15. ChatGPT names four chart kinds and documents citations in a report it hands you as Word or PDF; Claude puts file creation on its free plan and ChatGPT documents no free export.
  • Claude 83 minus Julius AI 73 = 10, made of N1 plus 13 and N7 plus 5, against N4 minus 8. Claude names the file formats it writes; Julius keeps the report inside Julius.
  • Julius AI 73 minus Perplexity 70 = 3, made of N3 plus 8 and N6 plus 15, against N1 minus 13 and N4 minus 7. Julius is free to start; Perplexity's citations are the strongest cell here and its file creation is paid.
  • Claude 83 minus NOXI 70 = 13, and it is five rules, not one: N1 plus 25, N5 plus 5 and N7 plus 5, against N3 minus 7 and N4 minus 15.
Matrix of eleven AI tools for reports showing which produce a written document, which produce slides, which produce both and which produce neither, with ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gamma naming a written file, with Julius AI, Gemini Notebook, Copilot for Power BI, Notion AI and Copilot in Word writing into a surface whose download format is never named, and with NOXI and Copilot in Excel scoring zero because neither documents a written document it hands over.
Four rows name a written file, five document both a document and slides, and NOXI is on the deck side of the line.

Three sensitivity readings, including the one where we come first

The order survives both re-weightings at the top, and one re-weighting moves NOXI two places.

Reading 1, equal weights. Each cell as a fraction of its own maximum, the seven fractions averaged: ChatGPT 0.857, Claude 0.790, Julius AI 0.721, NOXI 0.714, Perplexity 0.643, Gamma 0.586, Gemini Notebook 0.573, Copilot in Excel 0.290, Copilot for Power BI 0.283, Notion AI 0.283, Copilot in Word 0.140. Two things move: NOXI passes Perplexity into fourth, because the document rule's twenty five points stop carrying the table, and Copilot in Excel passes both thirty-two point rows. The top three hold.

Reading 2, without N1, the heaviest rule. Eighty points remain: NOXI 70, ChatGPT 65, Julius AI 61, Claude 58, Gemini Notebook 48, Perplexity 45, Gamma 39, Copilot in Excel 28, Copilot for Power BI 20, Notion AI 20, Copilot in Word 5. NOXI leads that reading, and it is printed here next to the main one rather than as a win, because for most people who search this phrase the written document is the whole point of a report. That is exactly why N1 keeps its twenty five points.

Reading 3, N4 read strictly, so citations count only inside a file you can download. Perplexity keeps 15, because its page says every document it creates carries citations; ChatGPT keeps 15, because its report downloads as Word or PDF; NOXI keeps 15, because the source line sits on the slide and the slide downloads. Gemini Notebook loses 15 and falls to 45, below Gamma, and Notion AI falls to 17. The top six hold.

Is there a free AI report generator?

Three of the eleven score full marks on free export, and the table's leader scores zero on it.

Claude, Julius AI and NOXI take the fifteen points. Claude's file-creation article documents creating .xlsx, .pptx, .docx and PDF files, and its free plan carries file creation. Julius AI's presentation page says you "Create a free account (no credit card needed) and you get free daily credits" and, of the same feature, "This works on the free plan too."; its pricing page prints Free at "$0 per month" and Plus at "$20 USD / month", with the currency code beside the figure. NOXI is free with 1,000 credits a month that reset on the first, a full deck costs about 25 of them, no card and no watermark, and the download is an editable PowerPoint with real text boxes and embedded fonts.

Gamma takes eight rather than fifteen, for the reason its own help article gives: "The 'Made by Gamma' badge appears on PDF and PPTX exports", a sentence that goes on to tie the badge to a workspace on the free plan at the time of export. Seven rows take zero, and four of them are worth spelling out. ChatGPT's Free Tier page lists search, data analysis, uploads, GPTs, images and Library, and no export; its slides feature is gated to "ChatGPT Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans with Space access." Perplexity's file creation is paid: its help centre gives asset creation to "Pro, Education Pro, Max, Enterprise Pro and Enterprise Max users". Gemini Notebook's support page names no export format and no download, and the only outward action is "Copy link to Report". Copilot for Power BI needs a paid capacity first. Notion AI, Copilot in Excel and Copilot in Word document no export of their own.

One number belongs in any free-plan decision: OpenAI's upload article, read on 2 November 2026 and shown as updated two days earlier, says "Free users are limited to 3 file uploads per day", against "up to 80 files every 3 hours" otherwise. If your report starts as six spreadsheets, that limit arrives before the writing does. Our page on whether ChatGPT is free scores ten free plans on their own rules.

An AI report writer that cites its sources: who documents it

Five of the eleven document citations inside the thing they produce, in five different places. Most roundups treat this as a single yes or no.

Definition Citation in the output. A source that travels with the deliverable: printed in the document you download, on the slide you hand over, or inside the in-product report when there is no file. A source shown only in a chat answer does not travel.
  • Perplexity, inside the file. "Every document automatically includes Perplexity-grade citations and research." It also names the formats, "Document Files: DOCX, PDF", which is why it takes the tie-break over us.
  • ChatGPT, inside a downloadable report. "All deep research outputs include citations or source links so you can verify the information", on the page whose reports download as Word or PDF.
  • Gemini Notebook, inside the product. Its product page documents "providing citations for verification", and because no export format is named the thing it produces is the in-product report, which is full marks under the printed reading.
  • Notion AI, inside the page it writes. Its product page documents answers arriving with citations, and because the page is the thing Notion AI produces, the citation travels with the output under the printed reading.
  • NOXI, on the slide. A slide that shows data carries a footer line naming the organisation and the year, with a link to where the figure came from, clickable in the editor. One condition matters: research and those source lines are prompt-started. Start from your own attached file and research is off by default.

Julius AI sits at eight: its pricing page offers "Explore files, run analyses, visualize results, and get answers with citations.", which is citations in the answer rather than the report file. The other five rows score zero, because no page of theirs that we opened documents a citation travelling with the output: Claude, Gamma, Copilot for Power BI, Copilot in Excel and Copilot in Word. Our deep dive on AI presentations that carry research citations goes further than one rule can.

From a spreadsheet: which tools read your numbers

Eight of the eleven document spreadsheet or CSV input with the formats named, which makes this the least discriminating rule in the set.

ChatGPT names "Spreadsheets, such as .xls, .xlsx, and .csv files". Julius AI names "any data file format, including spreadsheets (.xls, .xlsx, .csv), Google Sheets, images". Claude, Perplexity, Gemini Notebook, Copilot for Power BI and Copilot in Excel all document the input. NOXI takes the full fifteen on a named list that includes XLS, XLSX, ODS, CSV and TSV, alongside PDF, Word, PowerPoint, text and images, up to 200 MB per file on a free account.

One row scores eight and two score zero. Gamma documents importing from Google Sheets rather than a general spreadsheet upload, which is the eight. Notion AI's pages document databases rather than spreadsheet or CSV analysis, and that zero is the cell that breaks its tie with Copilot for Power BI. Copilot in Word works on the prose in a document you already have.

On one row the licence line matters more than the format list. Microsoft's page for Copilot for Power BI says "Paid Fabric capacity (F2 or higher) or Power BI Premium (P1 or higher)", adds that "Trial capacities and free SKUs aren't supported", and states that "A Power BI Pro or Premium Per User (PPU) license alone isn't sufficient". People read "Copilot" and assume their Microsoft 365 licence covers it. It does not. On the name: Microsoft's documentation, dated 28 October 2026, says "Microsoft 365 Copilot is now named Microsoft Copilot", and the old name still sits beside the new one on its commercial pages.

If the spreadsheet is the whole job and slides are the output, our page on Excel data to PowerPoint tools covers that route in detail.

Charts in a report, and the vocabulary trap about chart editing

Eighteen vendor sites were opened for this one question on 2 November 2026, none states that a chart stays editable after export, and one states the opposite in writing. That is the finding this page exists to publish.

Gamma's export help article is the only explicit statement in the sweep: "Charts imported from Google Sheets export to PowerPoint and Google Slides as static images". The same article is careful about what it does promise, and the promise is about tables: "tables in your gamma are exported as real, editable tables". Four other vendors make a claim about the file rather than the chart inside it, and that difference is the trap. Decktopus offers "A fully editable file you can open in PowerPoint, Keynote, or Google Slides". Beautiful.ai offers "Editable PowerPoint export". Claude's artifacts article says "Decks export to PowerPoint and PDF, or go straight to Google Slides as editable files". Julius AI says "Export editable slides as PPTX, PDF, PNG, or Google Slides". Every one of those sentences is about a file or a slide.

Definition Static image export. A chart that leaves the tool as a picture. The slide opens and edits normally; the numbers inside the picture do not. Only the vendor's page can tell you which you are getting, and on 2 November 2026 one page in eighteen says it.

On the rule itself, N3 asks for named kinds and two rows take the full fifteen. ChatGPT names four: "Interactive charts are supported for bar, line, pie, and scatter charts." NOXI names twelve: bar, stacked bar, horizontal bar, line, step line, area, stacked area, pie, funnel, scatter, combo and waterfall, with the numbers editable inside NOXI itself. Donut and radar are not among the twelve, which is worth knowing before you promise a funder a radar chart. Five rows score eight, the level for charts documented without three kinds named: Claude, whose page offers "data visualizations in image files like PNG" and "even charts to visualize your data" without saying what arrives inside a created workbook; Julius AI, which "builds charts and tables from the analysis itself, so they match the numbers" and names no kind on any page we opened; Gamma; Gemini Notebook; and Copilot in Excel, whose page names a single kind, in the prompt "Create a line chart showing change over time", where the rule wants three. Perplexity, Copilot for Power BI, Notion AI and Copilot in Word score zero, and the Power BI overview names no chart kind at all.

The practical rule is short: open the exported file, click a chart, see what happens, once per template rather than once per deck. For picking the chart form, our guides to presenting data and AI chart makers sit beside this section.

Panel comparing what four vendors actually promise about an exported chart: Gamma states that charts imported from Google Sheets export as static images, while Decktopus, Beautiful.ai, Claude and Julius AI each make a claim about the file or the slide being editable rather than about the chart, with a tally showing zero of eighteen vendor sites claiming a chart stays editable after export.
One vendor says what happens to a chart, four make a careful claim about the file, and zero of eighteen claim the chart survives as a chart.

From report to deck, in one step

Five of the eleven document both a written document and slides, and the handover between them is where the work goes.

ChatGPT, Claude, Julius AI, Perplexity and Gamma document both, and ChatGPT's slides feature carries the plan gate quoted above. Gemini Notebook and NOXI document one of the two. Four rows document neither.

If the written report already exists, the shortest honest route is to hand the file to a deck tool rather than retyping its findings. That is the flow at the end of this page: attach the report, let the slides come out of what is in it, and keep research off, because the file is the source of truth.

One more surface changes where the work starts. NOXI is listed in ChatGPT's plugin directory as an AI presentation maker, so the deck can be asked for in the chat and opened in NOXI to edit, present or export. The NOXI plugin for ChatGPT page has the steps, and availability depends on your plan, role and region.

One honest line about method. Two vendor sites refused automated fetches and served a normal signed-out browser instead: Julius AI's pricing page refused twice before opening at 14:19, and a help centre behind another row did the same. We record what happened, and draw no conclusion about either company.

What these rules don't measure

Seven rules cannot cover a job this wide, and most of what they leave out is where other tools are strongest.

  • Whether the writing is any good, and whether the analysis behind it is right. Both matter more than any cell here, and neither can be read off a vendor page.
  • Review and approval. Redlining, tracked changes and sign-off are how real reports get finished, and Microsoft's route through Word and Copilot in Word owns that ground.
  • Governed data. Copilot for Power BI reads a prepared semantic model, which is the difference between a number that is right and one that merely came out of a file.
  • Working inside your own document. Copilot in Word and Copilot in Excel act on the file you have open, with your formatting intact. NOXI's route is the editable PowerPoint file it writes for you.
  • House style, and breadth. Whether the output matches a brand book or a funder's form is outside every rule here, and ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity all do far more than reports.

Not measured for anyone: reading level, tone, speed, accessibility, data residency, admin controls, regional availability, and whether your funder accepts the format. Check that last one first.

What would change this ranking

Three things would move it, each tied to a page and a date.

  • 1. Any vendor states on an official page that a chart stays editable after export. The pages to watch are Gamma's export help article, which today says the opposite for imported charts, Claude's create-and-edit-files article, and Microsoft's Copilot in Excel pages. If one of them says it, the negative finding here is dead and the chart rule needs a fourth level. Re-check 1 December 2026.
  • 2. Gemini Notebook names a download format. Today its support page names none and the only outward action is "Copy link to Report", which is why its free-export cell is zero and it sits seventh. One named format on support.google.com/gemininotebook is worth fifteen raw points and would lift it above Gamma. Re-check 1 December 2026.
  • 3. Julius AI names a chart kind, or an export format for the report. Today its report-generator page "builds charts and tables from the analysis itself" and names no kind, and the report is shared by link with no format named. Either sentence changing on julius.ai moves a fifteen or a thirteen point cell and could put Julius second. Re-check 1 December 2026.

Worked example: one spreadsheet, two deliverables

Example Elena Marchetti, a fictional grants officer in Turin, has a 40-page spreadsheet of programme data and owes a funder two things by Friday: a written report with six charts, and a ten-slide summary. Her budget this quarter is zero. The table turns that into arithmetic.

Step one, the written file. She needs 25 on the document rule and 15 on free export. Four rows take the document rule in full: ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gamma. Of those four, ChatGPT scores 0 on free export, Perplexity 0, Gamma 8 because of the badge on its PDF and PPTX exports, and Claude 15. Exactly one of the eleven does both, so her written report goes to Claude at 79.

Step two, the six charts. Only two rows name three or more chart kinds: ChatGPT with four and NOXI with twelve. Claude scores 8, documenting charts without naming a kind. Two of her six charts are a funnel and a waterfall, and those kinds are in the list of twelve and not in the list of four, so the charts are built where the kinds are named.

Step three, the ten slides. She needs 15 on the spreadsheet rule and 15 on free export. Three rows qualify: Claude 79, Julius AI 70 and NOXI 67. She picks NOXI, attaches the spreadsheet, and the deck comes out of the file rather than a web search, because research is off by default from your own upload. A deck costs about 25 of her 1,000 monthly credits, which is forty decks a month, and 40 pages is nowhere near the 200 MB per file limit.

Step four, the check nobody puts in a roundup. She opens the exported file and clicks each of the six charts to see what they are. Six checks, once, on the first deck, because zero of the eighteen vendor sites we opened on 2 November 2026 promises a chart stays editable. Two tools, two deliverables, four decisions, each read off a printed rule.

Build it: the deck from the report you already have

Six steps turn a finished report, or the spreadsheet behind it, into a deck you download as an editable PowerPoint. This is Create from file, free on a NOXI account with no card.

Prompt 1 · the brief that goes with the file

Build a [10]-slide summary for [our funder's steering group] from the attached [programme report]: the headline finding on slide one, then [three] results with their own numbers, then the risks and the response, then next quarter. Keep every number exactly as it appears in the file and follow the file's section order.

Prompt 2 · one slide, one change

On slide [4], turn the paragraph into a waterfall chart from the table on page [12] of the attached file, label every bar with its value and unit, and put the [net change] in the accent colour.

Prompt 3 · one pass over the whole deck

Across all slides, make every title a full-sentence finding rather than a label, keep the order and the slide count, and leave every number unchanged.

Step 1. Open Create from file

Open noxi.ai, create a free account, no card, and choose Create from file on Home.

Step 2. Attach the report or the spreadsheet

Attach the PDF, Word file, Excel workbook, CSV, PowerPoint file or image the deck comes from, up to 200 MB, and add the brief from Prompt 1.

Step 3. Let the structure come out of your file

NOXI reads the file, decides the structure and draws each slide on screen as it is built. Research and on-slide source lines are off by default for a deck started from an attached file, because the figures in your file are already yours.

Step 4. Fix anything by asking

Ask in the chat for one slide or the whole deck, as in Prompts 2 and 3, or click an element and say what to change. Twelve chart types are available and their numbers stay editable inside NOXI.

Step 5. Send it round, or edit it together

Invite colleagues by email or link as viewers or editors, edit at the same time, and restore an earlier version if a change goes wrong. On a phone, you edit by AI chat in your phone's browser.

Step 6. Download the editable PowerPoint

Download a .pptx with real text boxes and embedded fonts, or a PDF, then open it and click each chart once, because no page in this sweep says what a chart becomes after export.

If the deliverable has to arrive in another language too, the same attach-and-ask route runs through our scored ranking of AI for translation, where eleven tools are measured on whole documents, layout and right-to-left output.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best AI for reports?
On seven printed rules checked on 2 November 2026, ChatGPT scores highest with 86 of 100, then Claude 79, Julius AI 70, Perplexity 67 and NOXI 67 in fifth place of eleven. The rules reward a named document file, spreadsheet input, named chart kinds, citations in the output, slides, free export and where it runs.
What is the best AI for report writing?
ChatGPT, on these rules, because its deep research article says reports download "in multiple formats, including Markdown, Word, and PDF" with citations inside them. Claude is second at 79 and the better answer if you will not pay, since file creation sits on its free plan. Both pages read 2 November 2026.
What is the best AI to write a report?
Claude, if the report has to cost nothing: it is the only one of eleven rows scoring full marks on both the written-document rule and free export, at 79 of 100 on 2 November 2026. Its page names "Excel spreadsheets (.xlsx), PowerPoint presentations (.pptx), Word documents (.docx), and PDF files".
What is the best AI for report generation from a spreadsheet?
Julius AI, at 70 of 100, for a report built on the data itself: its page names "spreadsheets (.xls, .xlsx, .csv), Google Sheets, images" and says "This works on the free plan too." If the numbers live in a governed Power BI model, Copilot for Power BI needs a paid F2 capacity.
Is there a free AI that writes reports?
Yes. Three of eleven score full marks on free export as of 2 November 2026: Claude, Julius AI and NOXI. Gamma scores eight because its help page puts a "Made by Gamma" badge on PDF and PPTX exports from a free workspace. ChatGPT and Perplexity score zero, since neither documents a free export.
Which AI puts sources in the report itself?
Perplexity states it most plainly: "Every document automatically includes Perplexity-grade citations and research", in DOCX or PDF. ChatGPT's deep research reports carry citations and download as Word or PDF. In NOXI a data slide carries a source line with the organisation and year, for decks started from a prompt.
What is the best AI for financial reports?
It depends where the numbers live. For a written file from your own spreadsheet, ChatGPT at 86 and Claude at 79 both name the formats they produce. For a governed model, Copilot for Power BI fits, and Microsoft requires "Paid Fabric capacity (F2 or higher) or Power BI Premium (P1 or higher)".
What is the best AI for research reports?
Perplexity at 67 and ChatGPT at 86, because both document citations travelling inside the file they hand you. Gemini Notebook also documents "providing citations for verification", but its support page names no export format on 2 November 2026 and the only outward action is "Copy link to Report", so it scores zero on free export.
Do charts stay editable after export?
No vendor says so. Across eighteen vendor sites opened on 2 November 2026 none states that a chart stays editable once exported, and Gamma says the opposite: "Charts imported from Google Sheets export to PowerPoint and Google Slides as static images". Several promise an editable file or editable slides, which is a claim about the container.
How do I turn a report into slides?
Attach the finished report instead of retyping it. In NOXI, Create from file takes a PDF, Word file, spreadsheet, CSV or PowerPoint file up to 200 MB and builds the deck from what is in it. Fix any slide by asking in the chat, then download an editable PowerPoint. Research stays off for file-started decks.

Sources & methodology

Every vendor page below was opened on 2 November 2026, signed out, with no cookie banner accepted and nothing bought. Opening times in the tables above are local, Gulf Standard Time. Prices appear only in the currency the page printed that day, which is why no Perplexity figure appears here: its pricing page is a 404. Elena Marchetti and her programme are fictional. The seven rules are new for this ranking, they total 105 points, and the score printed everywhere is that total as a percentage.
