Document to presentation AI tools ranking, October 2026 — NOXI guide cover: twelve tools scored on seven criteria for turning PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint files into presentations

Disclosure: NOXI publishes this ranking and is one of the tools in it. Every tool, NOXI included, is scored on the same seven criteria from facts on its own official pages, and the method below lets you re-run the scores yourself.

Quick answer: For turning a PDF, Word, Excel or PowerPoint file into a presentation, the October 2026 edition of this ranking scores NOXI highest (4.50 of 5) on documented capability: it accepts all four document types plus images up to 200 MB, rebuilds tables and builds charts from the data (editable in the app), matches an uploaded template, and exports an editable PowerPoint free of charge. Gamma (4.20) follows with the widest input list, including web links, and Presentations.AI (3.90), ChatGPT (3.85) and Manus (3.80) complete the top five. If your document must stay inside Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, Copilot in PowerPoint and Gemini in Slides are the native options, ranked lower here only because they are paid add-ons with few published limits.

"Convert PDF to presentation" is one of the most-searched phrases in this category, and most answers to it are either page converters that paste each page onto a slide or listicles that never say which file types a tool actually reads. This is the ranked buyer's guide across all document types: twelve tools scored on seven weighted criteria, an input matrix (tool by file type), the size limits each vendor publishes, whether charts are rebuilt from data, whether your style survives, what the export keeps, and what the free tier really allows. It is a monthly edition on a permanent address; October 2026 is the first.

In short

  • Top fiveNOXI 4.50 · Gamma 4.20 · Presentations.AI 3.90 · ChatGPT 3.85 · Manus 3.80 (weighted score out of 5).
  • MethodDocumented capability, verified on official pricing and help pages on 11 October 2026. Not a new hands-on test; our published tests are linked below.
  • InputsOnly Gamma, Gemini Notebook and Presentations.AI document a web link as an input; only NOXI, ChatGPT and Presentations.AI document PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint together with no workaround.
  • DataCharts rebuilt from your spreadsheet as editable PowerPoint objects are documented by Manus and Presentations.AI; NOXI builds charts from the data, and the numbers can be edited inside NOXI.
  • FreeFree paths that include upload and PowerPoint export: NOXI, Canva, Claude Slides, ChatGPT (3 uploads a day), Gamma (400 one-time credits, badge on exports).
  • Two jobsA page converter keeps the look; an AI rebuild keeps the argument. Decide which you need before you choose a tool.

Converting a document and rebuilding it are two different jobs

A document-to-presentation tool does one of two things: it converts pages into slides, keeping the layout and losing the argument, or it reads the document and rebuilds it as a deck with one point per slide, real tables and charts drawn from the numbers. This ranking scores the second job. If you only need the first, a converter such as Canva's PDF import or Adobe Acrobat's PDF-to-PowerPoint will do it faster and more faithfully.

Three-column diagram. Left, five parts of a document: section headings, paragraphs of argument, a table of options, numbers inside sentences, the brand style. Middle, what a page converter makes of each: one page becomes one slide, text is pasted as it was, the table looks like a table but is often a picture, numbers stay buried in the text, the style is kept exactly though fonts may swap. Right, what an AI rebuild makes: slide titles that state the point, one idea per slide, a real editable table, a chart built from the data, and a style that is matched or taken from your own template.
The same five parts of a document end up in very different places. Scores in this guide reward the right-hand column.

The distinction matters for the searcher who types "PDF to PPT free". A 14-page proposal converted page by page becomes 14 slides nobody can present; rebuilt, it becomes eight slides with a recommendation on the first one. Our how-to guides cover each route in depth: PDF to presentation with AI, Word to PowerPoint with AI and Excel data to PowerPoint. This page is the comparison across all of them.

How we ranked: seven criteria, weights and the 1 to 5 scale

Every tool was scored on documented capability: what its own pricing page, help centre or official blog said on 11 October 2026. No listicle, review site or memory was used, and no new hands-on test was run. Our two published hands-on tests are the June 2026 test of 12 AI presentation makers and the September 2026 Arabic brief test; where this guide quotes them, it says so.

The seven criteria and weights reflect what the document-to-deck job needs. Inputs and export carry the most weight because a tool that cannot read your file, or hands back a deck you cannot edit, fails the job whatever else it does.

CriterionWeightWhat a 5 meansWhat a 1 means
1. Inputs20%All six documented: PDF, Word, Excel or CSV, PowerPoint, images, web linkOne format, or only pasted text
2. Limits10%200 MB or more per file, or no page limit, stated on the pageNo size or length limit published
3. Data15%Charts built from the file's data and editable as chart objects in the outputCharts ignored or exported as pictures
4. Style15%Keeps the source layouts, or uses your own PowerPoint template as the masterNo way to bring your look
5. Export20%Works inside PowerPoint or Slides, or writes an editable PPTX with embedded fonts, no paywall or badgeNo PowerPoint file
6. Free tier10%Upload, generate and export free, no watermarkNo free plan; trial only
7. Editing10%AI edits for the whole deck, one slide and one element, plus manual editingRegenerate the whole deck or nothing

Intermediate scores: a 4 is five of six inputs, 100 to 199 MB, charts from data that are editable in the tool but not as native objects in the file, a style transfer from an uploaded file, an editable PPTX with a documented caveat (a badge, fonts to install), a free plan with a credit cap or badge, or slide and element edits without whole-deck edits. A 3 is three or four inputs, limits stated only as counts or guidelines, editable tables with manual chart data, brand colours and fonts only, a PPTX whose editability is not documented, a free plan with uploads or export gated, or slide-level AI edits only. A 2 is two inputs, limits under 24 MB, data handling not documented, theme choice only, export paid-only, a trial or a paid-suite add-on, or whole-deck regeneration only. Where a vendor publishes nothing, the score is the lowest band: this is a ranking of what you can verify before you pay.

The score is the weighted mean. Ties are broken on Inputs, then Export, then Data. To re-run it, open the pages listed under Sources, fill the seven cells for each tool, and multiply by the weights; a tool's score changes only when its official pages change.

Definition What is a documented-capability score? A documented-capability score rates a product on what its vendor states on official pages (pricing, help centre, release notes) on a given date, rather than on a test run by the reviewer. It answers "what does the vendor commit to in writing?", which is the question a buyer can check, and it is explicit that quality in use is not measured.

Input matrix: which tool reads which file

Three tools document PDF, Word, Excel or CSV and PowerPoint as inputs with no workaround: NOXI, ChatGPT and Presentations.AI. Gamma and Gemini Notebook add web links but take spreadsheets only as CSV. Copilot in PowerPoint and Gemini in Slides name the fewest file types on their pages, because both expect the file to come from your Microsoft or Google storage.

Matrix of twelve tools against six input types with ticks for documented, half circles for partial or workaround, and crosses for not documented. NOXI: PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and images documented, web link not. Gamma: everything documented except Excel, which is partial via CSV. Presentations.AI: all documented except images. ChatGPT: all documented except web link. Manus: PDF, Excel and web link documented, PowerPoint partial as a template, Word and images not documented. Claude: PDF, Word, Excel and images documented, PowerPoint partial. Canva: PDF, PowerPoint and images documented, Word and Excel partial. Plus AI: PDF, Word, PowerPoint documented, Excel partial. Copilot: Word documented, PDF and PowerPoint partial. Gemini Notebook: all documented except Excel partial via CSV. Gemini in Slides: four partials via Drive. Beautiful.ai: PDF and web link documented, Word, Excel and PowerPoint partial.
A half circle means the page documents a workaround (CSV instead of Excel, a file as a template rather than a source, a Drive file of unnamed type). A cross means the official pages say nothing; the tool may still accept the file.

The published size limits are as uneven as the input lists. The table shows the largest per-file figure on each vendor's pages; a dash means no limit is published.

The ranking: twelve tools scored

NOXI leads at 4.50 because it scores 5 on the two heaviest criteria that most tools split: export (an editable PowerPoint with embedded fonts, free) and the free tier, while losing a point on inputs for not documenting web links. Gamma scores 4.20 with the broadest inputs and Gamma 5's layout-preserving import, held back by one-time free credits and manual chart data. The native suite tools, Copilot and Gemini in Slides, score 5 on export and lower on inputs and limits because their pages publish so few.

The 12 tools, ranked, with what their pages document

1. NOXI 4.50

Best when: the document is a report, proposal or spreadsheet and you need a deck someone will present, in your template, as an editable PowerPoint, without a paid plan.

NOXI's "Create from file" accepts PDF, Word (DOC, DOCX, RTF, ODT), PowerPoint (PPT, PPTX, ODP), spreadsheets (XLS, XLSX, ODS, CSV, TSV), text formats and images, up to 200 MB per file, and turns them into a structured deck: slide titles that state the point, tables as tables and twelve chart types built from the data, with the numbers editable in a chart data editor. Upload a PowerPoint, PDF or even a screenshot as a reference and the new deck is designed in that style: colours, typography, layouts and visual rhythm. You can review the outline first or generate straight away.

Editing works at every level: ask for a change to one slide or the whole deck in English or Arabic, click an element and tell the AI what to change, or sketch on the slide (desktop). The export is where the score is earned: NOXI's own engine writes an editable PowerPoint with real text boxes and embedded fonts, Arabic included, so the file opens with your typography; PDF, a view or edit share link and a full-screen present mode are also there. Uploading and exporting need a free account. NOXI is free, with no card and no watermark: each account gets a monthly allowance of 1,000 credits, and a full deck uses about 25.

Scores: inputs 4 (web links are not listed as an input; paste the text or attach the page as a PDF), limits 5, data 4, style 4, export 5, free 5, editing 5. In depth: AI presentations with your own template.

2. Gamma 4.20

Best when: your source is a PowerPoint or PDF whose layouts you want to keep, or a web page, and you share decks as links as often as files.

Gamma's import page lists PowerPoint and Word files up to 200 MB, PDFs up to 100 MB, pasted links and text, Google Drive through a connector and images for illustration; Excel "can't be imported directly" (save as CSV for the Agent). In Gamma 5, launched on 6 October 2026, PowerPoint and PDF imports "keep your original layouts, design, and structure", and a custom theme can be read from a PPTX. Charts are entered in a chart editor or synced one way from Google Sheets; the help centre tells users to pass finished figures rather than ask Gamma to calculate. Exports go to PDF, PNG and PPTX (Google Slides by uploading the PPTX), with tables exported as editable tables on all plans and fonts embedded; the same page notes that exports mirror Present Mode, that slide masters arrive blank and that some gradients flatten. AI editing covers one element, one slide or all slides, and right-to-left languages including Arabic are supported.

Free accounts get 400 credits at sign-up that do not refresh, up to 10 slides per prompt and a "Made by Gamma" badge on exports. Plus is $9, Pro $18 and Ultra $90 per seat a month billed annually; Business is $40 per member a month annually.

Scores: inputs 5, limits 4, data 3, style 5, export 4, free 3, editing 5. Compare: Gamma alternatives.

3. Presentations.AI 3.90

Best when: the source is a spreadsheet and you want native PowerPoint chart objects, or a scanned PDF that needs OCR.

Presentations.AI's tool pages list PDF (including scanned, with built-in OCR), Word (DOC, DOCX, RTF), Excel (XLS, XLSX, CSV), an existing PowerPoint, a URL, a Google Doc and Notion or Markdown content as inputs. Its Excel page states that "every chart output is a native PowerPoint object, not a static image" and that each sheet can become its own section; its PDF page says charts stay charts and tables stay tables. Brand Sync pulls logo, fonts and colours from a website URL. Published limits: PDFs to 100 MB on the free plan and 200 MB on Pro; spreadsheets 50 MB on one page and 100 MB on another. Output is a native PPTX "with editable text, shapes, and layouts", plus PDF and a shareable link; the FAQ advises reviewing the file before a high-stakes meeting.

The Starter plan is $0 with 100 credits and decks of up to 20 slides; the pricing table ticks PowerPoint and PDF export for Starter while the FAQ says paid plans unlock PowerPoint export, a conflict we could not resolve from the pages. Pro is $20 a month billed annually and Gold $50. Languages: "more than 14", Arabic not named in the visible text.

Scores: inputs 4, limits 4, data 5, style 3, export 4, free 3, editing 4.

4. ChatGPT, with the PowerPoint app 3.85

Best when: you already work in ChatGPT, the document is large, and you will finish the deck inside PowerPoint yourself.

ChatGPT's upload page lists DOCX, PDF and TXT documents, XLSX, XLS, CSV and TSV spreadsheets, PPTX presentations and images, with a 512 MB and 2-million-token limit per document and roughly 50 MB for spreadsheets; free users get three uploads a day. The ChatGPT for PowerPoint add-in works inside PowerPoint on every plan, Free included, "preserving editable slide structure", and is designed to work within existing templates "where possible" but may not always match them; chart support "may be limited or still in development", and data analysis in chat produces static chart images. Slide-level edits by prompt ("tighten slides 5 to 8") are documented. Plus is $20 a month, billed monthly only.

Scores: inputs 4, limits 5, data 2, style 3, export 5, free 4, editing 4. Compare: NOXI vs ChatGPT.

5. Manus 3.80

Best when: the deck must be built on your own .pptx master and the numbers live in Excel, CSV or Google Sheets, and you are on a paid plan.

Manus's slides documentation names a .pptx template, CSV and Excel files as inputs, and its PowerPoint-mode announcement (14 July 2026) adds uploaded PDFs and reports, web pages, pasted notes and a Google Sheets connector. In that mode Manus generates the PowerPoint file directly, with charts "backed by data tables you can click into and edit", tables with real cells and layouts that follow standard slide masters; an uploaded template supplies layouts, colours and fonts. Exports are PPTX, PDF and web slides. Nothing on the pages gives a file size limit or lists Word as an input. The Free plan ($0, 300 daily credits capped at 1,500 a month) lists chat and a lite agent; slide generation is listed under Pro, from $20 a month. Manus 2.0 shipped on 28 September 2026.

Scores: inputs 3, limits 1, data 5, style 5, export 5, free 2, editing 4.

6. Claude: Slides and Claude for PowerPoint 3.75

Best when: you want to draft a deck from a long PDF or Word file on a free plan and keep the conversation and the deck together.

Claude's upload page lists PDF, DOCX, CSV, TXT, HTML, RTF, EPUB, JSON and XLSX (with code execution on) plus images, at up to 500 MB per file, 20 files per chat and PDFs of up to 1,000 pages; files Claude creates are capped at 30 MB. Claude Slides, out of beta on 8 October 2026 and available on every plan including Free, drafts a deck from a shared file or the conversation, lets you edit any slide directly and exports to PowerPoint, PDF or Google Slides as editable files; a design system can carry your colours and fonts. The separate Claude for PowerPoint add-in reads the slide master, builds on corporate templates and produces editable native charts, but is for Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. Pro is $17 a month billed annually or $20 monthly.

Scores: inputs 3 (PowerPoint import is documented for Claude Design, not Slides; web links are not listed), limits 5, data 3, style 4, export 4, free 4, editing 4. Compare: NOXI vs Claude.

7. Canva 3.60

Best when: you want the PDF or PowerPoint to look exactly as it did, with every element editable in a free design editor.

Canva is the converter in this list. Its PDF import keeps "the original layout as closely as possible" and separates text and images into editable elements, for files up to 300 MB and 500 pages; PowerPoint import takes PPT and PPTX up to 300 MB and 300 slides, but "charts, SmartArt, 3D objects, and WordArt" are ignored. Word files become Canva Docs and spreadsheets become Sheets, and the Docs to Decks conversion "is no longer available". Presentations download as PPTX on any plan, with a note to install the fonts you used and that animations do not carry over. Canva Free includes up to 20 AI uses; Pro is US$144 a year and Business US$250 per person a year. Canva AI supports Arabic.

Scores: inputs 3, limits 5, data 1, style 5, export 4, free 5, editing 3. Compare: NOXI vs Canva.

8. Plus AI 3.55

Best when: your team lives in Google Slides or PowerPoint and wants the deck created natively there, and a paid seat is acceptable.

Plus AI uploads PDF, Word (.docx), PowerPoint (.pptx) and text files, or Google Drive files, up to 10 reference files per generation, on the Pro plan and above; its help page states it "cannot extract images, diagrams, or charts from your document", and output is capped at 30 slides per generation. Because it runs as an add-in, the deck is a native Slides or PowerPoint file. AI charts come from pasted data; Rewrite and Remix work on one text element, one slide or the whole deck. Custom branding (colours, fonts, logo) is on Team; uploading your own company template is Enterprise, with a beta for simple templates of up to 25 slides. There is no free plan: a 7-day trial needs a card; Basic is $10, Pro $20 and Team $30 per user a month billed annually. Eighty-plus languages are listed, Arabic among them.

Scores: inputs 3, limits 3, data 3, style 4, export 5, free 1, editing 5. More add-ins: the best AI PowerPoint add-ins.

9. Microsoft Copilot in PowerPoint 3.55

Best when: the document is a Word file in your tenant, the deck must use the company template, and you hold a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence.

Copilot creates a presentation from a Word document, and work-licensed users can also start from a PDF; it processes one file at a time and "works best with Word documents that are smaller than 24 MB". Starting from your template or opening an existing deck keeps its theme, and using your organisation's branding needs a Copilot licence. The output is a native PowerPoint file. The pages say nothing about Excel as a source, nor about how charts in the document are handled. Editing is by chat: an outline you can change before generation, add or remove slides afterwards, and Rewrite on whole text boxes. Microsoft 365 Copilot is $30 per user a month paid yearly for enterprises; the Business add-on is $18 under a first-year promotion through December 2026 (list $21). Arabic is on the supported-language list. Custom skills in Copilot in PowerPoint arrived on the web on 23 September and on Windows on 6 October 2026.

Scores: inputs 3, limits 3, data 2, style 5, export 5, free 2, editing 4. In depth: Copilot vs Gemini vs ChatGPT.

10. Google Gemini Notebook (formerly NotebookLM) 3.45

Best when: you have many sources and want a grounded summary deck quickly, and the slides will be shown rather than edited.

Gemini Notebook, renamed from NotebookLM on 16 July 2026, has the broadest documented source list: PDF, Word, text, Markdown, CSV and PowerPoint files, images, web and YouTube URLs, Google Docs, Slides and Sheets and pasted text, each up to 500,000 words or 200 MB with no page limit, and 50 sources per notebook on the free plan. Its Slide Deck output takes a prompt for audience, style and outline, comes as a detailed deck or presenter slides, and downloads as PDF or PPTX. Revisions create "an entirely new slide deck", and the pages do not say whether exported slides are editable text; our guide to getting NotebookLM slides into PowerPoint covers what to do about it. Slide Decks are available to all users over 18 on the free plan; Google AI Pro is valued by Google at $19.99 a month.

Scores: inputs 5, limits 5, data 2, style 3, export 3, free 4, editing 2.

11. Google Gemini in Google Slides 2.90

Best when: your organisation runs on Google Workspace Business Standard or above and the sources are already in Drive.

Since 30 June 2026 Gemini can generate a full, fully editable presentation in Google Slides from a prompt, with Drive files added as sources and an existing deck uploaded to match its style; it can also ground in web, Drive, Chat and Gmail content. The help pages do not name file types, file sizes or slide limits, and the feature is in English only on desktop. Refinement is one slide at a time, and anything can be edited by hand because the output is native Slides, which also downloads as PPTX. It requires an eligible Workspace or Google AI plan, so there is no free route for personal accounts; Google's pricing page is served per country, so check it for your currency.

Scores: inputs 2, limits 1, data 2, style 4, export 5, free 2, editing 3. In depth: Google Slides AI.

12. Beautiful.ai 2.80

Best when: consistency across a team's decks matters more than the source document, and the team already pays per seat.

Beautiful.ai's Create with AI takes a prompt plus attached "documents, PDFs, or links", drafts a text-only outline first, lets you choose the presentation language, and then designs the slides; its PDF page is explicit that it "does not trace your PDF pixel for pixel" but rebuilds the content. PowerPoint import brings selected slides into a deck, and chart data can be imported from a file, Google Sheets, Box or Dropbox. Editable PowerPoint export, with every element and the notes editable, is on Pro, Team and Enterprise; there is no free plan, only a 14-day trial with a card. Pro is $14.50 a month billed annually and Team $40 per user. The updated Create with AI workflow was announced on 9 October 2026. No file size limits are published.

Scores: inputs 3, limits 1, data 3, style 3, export 4, free 1, editing 3. Compare: Beautiful.ai alternatives.

The workflow that works: a brief plus the source file

Whatever tool you choose, the result improves more from a one-paragraph brief than from a better model: say who the audience is, what decision the deck supports, how many slides you want, and which tables and figures must appear. Tools rebuild what you point at; left alone they summarise evenly, and the recommendation on page three ends up on slide nine.

Example Harrowgate Logistics is a fictional regional parcel carrier. Its three-page brief proposes a 12-week warehouse automation pilot at its Leeds hub: £184,000 one-off cost, £20,500 saving a month, payback 184,000 ÷ 20,500 = 9.0 months. Page two holds a table of three options; page three states the cost per parcel in a paragraph: £0.45 today, £0.30 with a leased sorter, £0.24 with a purchased one. The arithmetic is real, the company is not.

Run through a rebuild tool with the brief "eight slides for the operations director and finance lead, decision first, keep the options table as a table, chart the cost per parcel, source line on every data slide", the document becomes a deck in this shape:

SlideTitle (the finding)From the brief
1Approve a 12-week sortation pilot at Leeds: £184,000 cost, 9-month paybackRecommendation, moved from page 3 to slide 1
2Manual sortation at Leeds costs £61,200 a month and errors are risingProblem paragraph, page 1; mis-sort rate 1.9% to 2.8%
3Three options were costed; the leased sorter pays back fastestThe options table, page 2, rebuilt as an editable table with the recommended row highlighted
4Sortation cost per parcel falls from £0.45 to £0.30 with the leased sorterThree numbers from a paragraph on page 3, now a bar chart from zero
5The pilot runs 12 weeks from 2 November with three checkpointsDates scattered through the brief, now a timeline
6Success means mis-sorts under 1.5% and savings of at least £18,000 a monthTargets, page 3, as a today-versus-target table
7Two risks need owners before go-liveRisk paragraph with owners added
8Decision: approve the £184,000 pilot today; purchase decision follows the read-outThe ask, with the next step and date

Two checks apply to every tool after the rebuild. First, open the options table and confirm it is a table, not a picture of one, and that the payback figures still divide correctly (£612,000 ÷ £27,900 = 21.9 months). Second, click the chart and confirm the three values; a chart built from numbers in prose is the step most likely to go wrong. For the structure of the deck itself, see how to structure a presentation, and for the data slides how to present data.

What the workflow produces: NOXI rebuilt a fictional three-page pilot brief as a deck, exported to PDF without manual edits. The brief's options paragraph became a real table with the recommended row highlighted.

NOXI slide: The 184,000 pound leased pilot pays back in 9.0 months, fastest of three options, a table of three options with one-off cost, monthly saving and payback, the leased sorter row marked recommended
A table from a paragraph: three options, the same three columns, the recommended row marked, and the payback rule in the footnote. Harrowgate Logistics is fictional.

Definitions: converter, rebuild, editable PPTX

Definition What is a document-to-presentation AI tool? A document-to-presentation AI tool reads an uploaded file (PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or an image) and generates a slide deck from its content: it selects and reorders the material, writes slide titles, lays out tables and charts and applies a design. It differs from a file converter, which maps each page of the document to a slide without interpreting it.
Definition What is a PDF to PPT converter? A PDF to PPT converter turns each page of a PDF into one PowerPoint slide, reproducing the page's layout. Depending on the converter, text and images arrive as separate editable objects or as a flattened picture; charts and tables usually keep their appearance but lose their data. It is the right tool when the document must look unchanged and the wrong one when it must become a presentation.
Definition What is an editable PPTX? An editable PPTX is a PowerPoint file in which text sits in text boxes you can retype, tables have cells, and shapes can be moved and recoloured, as opposed to a file whose slides are images of slides. Charts count as editable only when PowerPoint opens their underlying data; a chart drawn as a picture is editable only as a picture. Vendors use "editable" for both, so check the file.

3 AI prompts for turning a document into a deck

Each prompt names the audience, the decision, the slide count and the elements that must survive. Replace the brackets.

Prompt 1 · Report or proposal to a decision deck

Turn the attached [report] into a [8]-slide deck for [the operations director and finance lead] who must decide [whether to approve the pilot]. Put the recommendation on slide 1 with its cost and payback. Write every title as a one-sentence finding with its number. Keep the [options table on page 2] as an editable table and highlight the recommended row. Build a chart from the [cost-per-parcel figures on page 3], axis from zero. Add a source line "Source: [document name], [month year]" to every data slide. Use only numbers in the document and change none of them.

Prompt 2 · Spreadsheet to a briefing

From the attached [Excel file], sheet [Q3 summary], create a [6]-slide briefing for [the leadership team]. One question per slide: [did we hit plan, which region drove the gap, what changed by month]. Choose the chart from the question (bars to compare, a line over time, a waterfall from plan to actual) and keep the values editable. State units and periods in a subtitle on each data slide. Do not calculate new figures; if a comparison needs a number the sheet does not contain, say so on the slide.

Prompt 3 · Fix what the conversion lost

On slide [3], the table from the document arrived as [a picture / one text block]. Rebuild it as a real table with columns [Option, One-off cost, Monthly saving, Payback], right-align the numbers and keep the values exactly: [row values]. On slide [4], the chart should show [three bars: £0.45, £0.30, £0.24] with direct labels and no legend. Keep the rest of the deck unchanged.

How to turn a document into a deck in NOXI

The six steps below follow the workflow above in NOXI, with a free account.

Step 1 — Prepare the file

Make sure section titles use heading styles, tables are real tables rather than screenshots, and any figures you want charted sit in a sheet or a clearly labelled table. If the numbers are spread through the text, add a one-page summary table at the end; every tool reads a table more reliably than prose.

Step 2 — Create from file and write the brief

Choose Create from file and upload the PDF, Word, Excel or CSV file, PowerPoint or image (up to 200 MB per file; a free account is needed to upload). In the prompt, write the brief: audience, the decision the deck supports, the slide count, and the tables and figures that must appear.

Step 3 — Match your template

Upload your company PowerPoint template, a previous deck, a PDF or a screenshot as the reference. NOXI designs the new deck in that style: colours, typography, layouts and visual rhythm.

Step 4 — Review the outline first

Pick the mode that shows the outline before generation. Check that the recommendation is on slide 1, that each slide carries one finding, and that the options table and the chart each have their own slide. Reorder or cut before the slides are drawn; then watch each slide being built.

Step 5 — Check tables and charts against the source

Open the rebuilt table and compare it cell by cell with the document. Click the chart and check the values in the chart data editor, correcting any number there. For wording, ask the AI to change one slide or the whole deck, or click an element and say what to change.

Step 6 — Export and share

Download the deck as an editable PowerPoint with real text boxes and embedded fonts, Arabic included, or as a PDF; both are free and carry no watermark. Share a view-only or edit link with reviewers, invite colleagues by email to edit together, and present full-screen from NOXI when the meeting starts.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best free way to convert a PDF to a presentation?
It depends on the job. To keep the PDF's look and make its elements editable, Canva's free PDF import handles files up to 300 MB and 500 pages. To rebuild the PDF as a presentable deck and get an editable PowerPoint without paying, NOXI, Claude Slides and ChatGPT's PowerPoint app all accept PDFs on their free plans; NOXI also matches your template and exports with embedded fonts and no watermark.
Should I use a PDF to PPT converter or an AI tool?
Use a converter when the document must stay as it is, for example a signed report that will be shown page by page. Use an AI rebuild when the document must become a presentation: a converter gives you one slide per page with the text pasted as written, while a rebuild writes one point per slide, turns tables into tables and numbers into charts. Most "PDF to presentation" searches want the second.
Can AI turn an Excel file into PowerPoint charts I can edit?
Yes, with a narrowing set of tools. Manus and Presentations.AI state on their pages that charts built from uploaded Excel or CSV data are native PowerPoint objects with editable data. NOXI builds twelve chart types from the data and lets you edit the numbers inside the app before you export. Gamma, Plus AI and Beautiful.ai take chart data by pasting or importing it into a chart editor rather than from the document itself.
Can Copilot make a presentation from a PDF?
Yes for work accounts: Microsoft's FAQ says users licensed with Microsoft 365 Copilot can create a presentation from a PDF as well as a Word document, one file at a time, and that Copilot works best with files under 24 MB. The output is a native PowerPoint deck in your template. The pages do not describe Excel files as a source or how charts inside the document are handled.
Does Gamma import Word and Excel files?
Gamma imports Word and PowerPoint files up to 200 MB and PDFs up to 100 MB, and in Gamma 5 the PowerPoint and PDF imports keep the original layouts. Excel files cannot be imported directly; the help centre suggests saving the sheet as CSV for the Agent or connecting Google Sheets. Free accounts can import and export, with a Made by Gamma badge on exports and 400 one-time credits.
Is the exported PowerPoint really editable?
Check three things in the file: retype a title (text in boxes), click a table cell (a real table) and click a chart (does PowerPoint open its data?). Tools that work inside PowerPoint or Slides, such as Copilot, Gemini in Slides, Plus AI and the ChatGPT and Claude add-ins, produce native files. NOXI's own engine writes editable text boxes and embeds the fonts. Gamma documents editable tables but blank slide masters; Gemini Notebook's pages do not say whether its PPTX slides are editable text.
How large a document can these tools take?
Published per-file limits range from ChatGPT's 512 MB and Claude's 500 MB, through Canva's 300 MB, NOXI's, Gamma's and Gemini Notebook's 200 MB, to Copilot's guideline of under 24 MB. Manus, Plus AI, Gemini in Slides and Beautiful.ai publish no size limit. Large files are not always better: tools summarise long documents more evenly, so a one-page brief with the file gives a better deck than the file alone.
Will the deck match my company template?
Three approaches exist. Copilot, Manus and Claude for PowerPoint build on your .pptx template as the slide master. NOXI and Gemini in Slides match the style of an uploaded deck or document (NOXI also accepts a PDF or a screenshot). Gamma, Plus AI, Beautiful.ai and Presentations.AI apply brand colours, fonts and a logo from a theme, brand kit or website. Only the first group reproduces your layouts exactly; the others design in your look.
