Quick answer: Choose ChatGPT if you start from an existing PowerPoint file or need the PowerPoint add-in on a free plan. Choose Claude if you work inside PowerPoint on a paid plan and want your company template's slide master respected. On seven printed rules ChatGPT scores 90 and Claude 87 (27 October 2026); the whole gap is PowerPoint uploads.
ChatGPT and Claude can both make PowerPoint decks in October 2026, but they do it in different places and on different plans. Each now has an add-in that works inside PowerPoint, a deck maker of its own, and an export to .pptx. For PowerPoint work the two differ less on "quality" than on three plain facts: which plan unlocks which route, which files each accepts, and whether the deck is built inside your file or outside it. The pages ranking for this comparison on 27 October 2026 disagree on basic facts, such as whether Claude exports PowerPoint at all, and none prints today's plans. This page reads OpenAI's and Anthropic's own pages on one day, scores both on the seven printed rules of our presentation ranking, and only then adds a dedicated deck tool as a third option. For the general assistant comparison (writing, coding, plans and privacy), see ChatGPT vs Claude. Our head-to-head of NOXI and ChatGPT is linked in the third-option section below.
In short
- Two-way resultChatGPT 90, Claude 87 on seven documented-capability rules, checked on 27 October 2026. The 3-point gap is all file import: ChatGPT takes PowerPoint uploads, Claude does not.
- Inside PowerPointChatGPT's add-in is on every plan, Free and Go with limited use; Claude's add-in starts with Pro ($17 a month billed annually).
- Own deck makerChatGPT Slides is on Pro, Business and Enterprise (rolling out); Claude's Slides templates are on every plan, Free included.
- Your old .pptxChatGPT accepts PowerPoint uploads in the chat; Claude's upload list has no PPTX, though its add-in works on a deck you have open.
- The third optionNOXI, a dedicated deck tool, scores 98 on the same rules: our pick for free, editable PowerPoint decks, including right-to-left Arabic.
- Not scoredWriting quality, design taste, speed and accuracy. They get their own section below.
Key numbers
Anthropic publishes no comparable user count for Claude, so none is printed here. None of these numbers is part of the score: no rule rewards size.
How we compared ChatGPT, Claude and NOXI for PowerPoint
All three products were scored on documented capability: seven criteria, one written rule each, applied the same way to every row. We re-applied the rules of our AI presentation tools ranking on 27 October 2026; the criteria, anchors and weights are the ones printed in the ranking's method section.
| Code | Criterion | Weight | The rule (identical for every row) |
|---|---|---|---|
| P1 | Editable PPTX export | 20 | 5 = an editable .pptx with real text boxes on the free plan with no badge, or the tool edits the native PowerPoint or Google Slides file; 4 = same export on paid plans only, or free with a badge; 3 = the vendor documents visible differences, substituted fonts or elements that become images; 2 = PDF or images only; 1 = no file export. |
| P2 | Editing depth | 20 | 5 = four AI levels documented: whole deck, one slide, one selected element, your own template or brand kit as the style; 4 = three; 3 = two; 1 = regeneration or manual editing only. |
| P3 | Research with sources | 15 | 5 = web research and the source shown on the slide; 4 = cited research, placement not stated; 3 = research or citations in the chat only; 2 = grounds on uploads, no sources shown; 1 = none. |
| P4 | Import | 15 | 5 = PDF, Word, Excel or CSV, PowerPoint and images all accepted to create a deck, with a stated size limit; 4 = four of five, or all five with no limit; 3 = two or three types; 2 = one; 1 = text prompt only. |
| P5 | Languages incl. RTL | 10 | 5 = right-to-left layout documented; 4 = a language list naming Arabic; 3 = "many languages" without a list; 2 = no list; 1 = English only. |
| P6 | Free plan reality | 10 | 5 = free generation and editable export, no card, no watermark, stated monthly allowance; 4 = free generation with a badged export or a small one-time pool (also used where no allowance is stated); 3 = free generation without PowerPoint export; 2 = time-limited trial only; 1 = no free use. |
| P7 | Where it runs | 10 | 5 = web plus inside PowerPoint or Google Slides plus an API, MCP server or connectors; 4 = web plus one of those; 3 = web plus desktop or mobile apps; 2 = web only, or a single host app. |
Two Claude cells changed since our 25 October edition. Languages (P5) moved from 3 to 4, because Anthropic's multilingual documentation names Arabic in a per-language table [15], the same class of evidence that gives ChatGPT its 4. Editing depth (P2) moved from 4 to 5 when we re-read Anthropic's PowerPoint page on 27 October: next to whole-deck restructuring, single-slide edits and your corporate template, it now says "Claude can target individual slides or elements" [10], which completes the four levels the rule asks for. With P2 at 4 Claude scores 83; on the 25 October edition it scored 81 and the gap was 9 points. Both earlier readings are printed below.
The scored table: ChatGPT 90, Claude 87, NOXI 98
ChatGPT scores 90 out of 100 and Claude 87 on the seven rules. The whole 3-point gap comes from one criterion: ChatGPT accepts PowerPoint files as uploads and Claude does not (+3). The two are level on export, editing depth, research, languages, the free plan and where they run. NOXI, scored by the same rules as a third option, totals 98.

| Criterion | ChatGPT: rating and reason | Claude: rating and reason | NOXI: rating and reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| P1 Export (20) | 5. The PowerPoint add-in works "while preserving editable slide structure", on every plan [4] | 5. "Decks export to PowerPoint and PDF, or go straight to Google Slides as editable files"; add-in in PowerPoint [11][10] | 5. Editable .pptx with real text boxes and embedded fonts, on the free plan, no watermark [21] |
| P2 Editing (20) | 5. Whole deck by prompt, "select the element, then select Request edits", "Share an example deck" to guide the style [3] | 5. Full decks and restructuring, "pinpoint edits to specific slides", "Claude can target individual slides or elements", "existing client or corporate templates" [10] | 5. Whole deck or one slide by chat, a selected element, Match reference with your PowerPoint or PDF as the style [21] |
| P3 Research (15) | 3. "Review claims, numbers, citations where available": in the chat, not on the slide [4] | 3. "Every response includes citations": in the response, not on the slide [13] | 5. Prompt-started decks research the web; slides with figures carry a source line [21] |
| P4 Import (15) | 5. DOCX, PDF, XLSX and CSV, PPTX and images; 512 MB per document or presentation [5] | 4. PDF, DOCX, CSV, XLSX and images, 500 MB per file; PPTX not listed [12] | 5. PDF, Word, Excel or CSV, PowerPoint and images, up to 200 MB per file [21] |
| P5 Languages (10) | 4. Language list names Arabic; no right-to-left slide statement [6] | 4. Anthropic's language table names Arabic; no right-to-left statement [15] | 5. Right-to-left slides; timelines and tables run right to left [21] |
| P6 Free plan (10) | 4. "Free and Go include limited usage access"; no stated monthly allowance [4] | 4. Free lists "Claude Design, Slides, Docs"; no stated allowance [9] | 5. 1,000 credits a month, a deck about 25; no card, no watermark [21] |
| P7 Where it runs (10) | 5. Web, the PowerPoint add-in, and "native Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides" through ChatGPT Work [4][7] | 5. Web, the PowerPoint add-in, and a Google Slides add-on in public beta on paid plans [10][16] | 4. Web plus an MCP connector at mcp.noxi.ai/mcp and a ChatGPT plugin; no PowerPoint add-in [18][19] |
The arithmetic, row by row
Each weighted score is the rating divided by 5, times the criterion's weight; totals are the sums of the seven.
| Criterion | ChatGPT | Claude | NOXI |
|---|---|---|---|
| P1 (20) | 5 ÷ 5 × 20 = 20 | 5 ÷ 5 × 20 = 20 | 5 ÷ 5 × 20 = 20 |
| P2 (20) | 5 ÷ 5 × 20 = 20 | 5 ÷ 5 × 20 = 20 | 20 |
| P3 (15) | 3 ÷ 5 × 15 = 9 | 3 ÷ 5 × 15 = 9 | 5 ÷ 5 × 15 = 15 |
| P4 (15) | 5 ÷ 5 × 15 = 15 | 4 ÷ 5 × 15 = 12 | 15 |
| P5 (10) | 4 ÷ 5 × 10 = 8 | 4 ÷ 5 × 10 = 8 | 10 |
| P6 (10) | 4 ÷ 5 × 10 = 8 | 4 ÷ 5 × 10 = 8 | 10 |
| P7 (10) | 5 ÷ 5 × 10 = 10 | 5 ÷ 5 × 10 = 10 | 4 ÷ 5 × 10 = 8 |
| Total | 20 + 20 + 9 + 15 + 8 + 8 + 10 = 90 | 20 + 20 + 9 + 12 + 8 + 8 + 10 = 87 | 20 + 20 + 15 + 15 + 10 + 10 + 8 = 98 |
The three gaps, explained
- ChatGPT minus Claude = 3. ChatGPT gains on P4 (+3: PowerPoint files are accepted as uploads). 3 = 90 − 87. P1, P2, P3, P5, P6 and P7 are level. With Claude's editing depth at 4 the gap is 7; on the 25 October edition it was 9.
- NOXI minus ChatGPT = 8. NOXI gains on P3 (+6), P5 (+2) and P6 (+2) = 10; ChatGPT leads NOXI on P7 (+2), because it runs inside PowerPoint. 10 − 2 = 8 = 98 − 90.
- NOXI minus Claude = 11. NOXI gains on P3 (+6), P4 (+3), P5 (+2) and P6 (+2) = 13; Claude leads NOXI on P7 (+2). 13 − 2 = 11 = 98 − 87.
What would change the result
- ChatGPT 86 if the add-in's own note that "Advanced presentation edits … may be limited" is read against P1 (P1 = 4), which puts Claude 87 above it.
- ChatGPT 86 if ChatGPT Slides, which is on Pro, Business and Enterprise only, is not counted for P2 (P2 = 4); Claude 87 is again above it.
- ChatGPT 82 with both readings, five points behind Claude 87. If you are on Free or Plus and never plan to buy Pro, this is the reading closest to what you can use.
- Claude 83 if "target individual slides or elements" is not read as an element-level AI edit (P2 = 4, the reading before our 27 October re-check).
- Claude 85 if only the claude.ai interface-language page counts for P5 (P5 = 3, the 25 October reading).
- Claude 89 and ChatGPT 92 if a free plan without a stated monthly allowance may get P6 = 5. The gap stays 3.
- NOXI 89 for a deck started from an attached file, where research and source lines are off by default (P3 = 2); NOXI 94 without the connector (P7 = 2).
ChatGPT stays first on the base scores and on every Claude or free-plan reading; on any of the three ChatGPT readings, Claude moves ahead. Read the 3 points as narrow, and let the plan you already pay for decide most of the rest.
Who gets what: ChatGPT and Claude PowerPoint features by plan
ChatGPT puts its PowerPoint add-in on every plan, Free included with limited use, but keeps ChatGPT Slides for Pro ($100 a month and up), Business and Enterprise. Claude does the opposite: its Slides templates are on Free, while its PowerPoint add-in starts with Pro at $17 a month on annual billing.
| Feature | ChatGPT | Claude |
|---|---|---|
| Inside PowerPoint | ChatGPT for PowerPoint: "available globally to Free, Go, Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, ChatGPT Edu, and K-12"; "Free and Go include limited usage access"; platforms not stated [4] | Claude for PowerPoint: "generally available to Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans"; PowerPoint on the web, Windows (build 16.0.13127.20296 or later) and Mac (16.46 or later); not on Free [10][9] |
| Its own deck maker | ChatGPT Slides: "Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans with Space access", rolling out; exports .pptx, PDF and Google Slides [3] | Claude Slides: "The Docs, Slides, and Design templates are available on all plans"; exports PowerPoint, PDF and Google Slides [11] |
| Google Slides | ChatGPT Work "supports native Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides" with the Google app connected [7] | Claude for Google Workspace add-on: "public beta on all paid Claude plans" (6 October 2026) [16] |
| Uploads | DOCX, PDF, TXT, XLSX, CSV, PPTX, images; 512 MB per document or presentation; "Free users are limited to 3 file uploads per day" [5] | PDF, DOCX, CSV, TXT, XLSX and more; 500 MB per file; up to 20 files per chat; no PPTX [12] |
| Your template | Slides: "Share an example deck" to guide the style and layout [3] | Add-in: builds slides "using your existing client or corporate templates", reading the slide master [10] |
| Citations | Add-in: "citations where available", in the chat [4] | "Every response includes citations", in the response [13] |
| Arabic | Language list names Arabic; no right-to-left slide statement [6] | Anthropic's language table names Arabic; no right-to-left statement [15] |
| Price (US) | Free $0 · Go $8 · Plus $20 · Pro from $100 · Business $20 a seat (annual) [8] | Free $0 · Pro $17 a month annual ($200 up front) or $20 monthly · Max from $100 · Team $20 a seat (annual) [9] |

Inside PowerPoint: the ChatGPT and Claude add-ins compared
Both add-ins work inside the PowerPoint file you already have, so both score 5 on export: there is nothing to convert. ChatGPT's reaches more people (every plan, Free and Go with limited use); Claude's documents more about templates, platforms and what it changes, down to individual elements.
- What each documents. OpenAI's page describes a "PowerPoint-native AI experience" where you review "claims, numbers, citations where available, and slide changes" [4]. Anthropic's page lists building slides from your template, "pinpoint edits to specific slides without regenerating entire decks", full decks from a description, diagrams and charts that stay chart objects in PowerPoint (in Anthropic's words, "native PowerPoint charts"), and deck restructuring such as "Reorder slides to lead with recommendations first"; its best-practice note adds that "Claude can target individual slides or elements" [10].
- Known limits. OpenAI says chart and advanced presentation edits "may be limited or still in development" [4]. Anthropic says the add-in is "not recommended for" final client deliverables without human review, and it does not run on PowerPoint 2016 or 2019 perpetual licences, iPad or Android [10].
- Across Office. Claude for PowerPoint "shares context with Claude for Excel, Word, and Outlook" [10]. OpenAI's one Microsoft add-in now also covers Excel and Word [2].
- For admins. Both can be deployed centrally through the Microsoft 365 admin centre with a manifest; Anthropic documents the steps on the same page [10][4].
For the wider field of PowerPoint add-ins, including Copilot and specialist tools, see our ranking of AI add-ins for PowerPoint.
Which works inside PowerPoint on a Mac?
Claude's does, by its own page: PowerPoint on Mac version 16.46 or later, PowerPoint on the web, and PowerPoint on Windows with a Microsoft 365 subscription (build 16.0.13127.20296 or later) [10]. OpenAI's add-in page names no platforms, so on 27 October 2026 a Mac user can only confirm ChatGPT's add-in by installing it.
Does Claude for PowerPoint work on Free?
No. Anthropic lists the add-in for "Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans", and Claude's pricing page marks Claude for Microsoft 365 as not included on Free [10][9]. On Free you can still build a deck with Claude's Slides templates and export it to PowerPoint.
Claude vs ChatGPT for slides: their own deck makers
Outside PowerPoint, each assistant now has a deck maker of its own, and both export to PowerPoint, PDF and Google Slides. ChatGPT Slides launched on 16 October 2026 for Pro, Business and Enterprise; Claude's Slides templates run on every plan, Free included.
- ChatGPT Slides. A collaborative deck inside ChatGPT, started from ChatGPT Work or a Space. You edit by prompt, or "select the element, then select Request edits"; you can "Share an example deck" to guide the style and layout; the web version exports to PowerPoint (.pptx), PDF and Google Slides [3]. OpenAI's help page says "Slides is rolling out to eligible accounts", and its release notes date the launch to 16 October 2026 on the web and in the desktop app [3][2].
- Claude Slides. A template inside Claude's artifacts: "Artifacts are available on Free, Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans", and the Slides template is on all plans. It needs the "Cloud code execution and file creation" setting turned on; decks "export to PowerPoint and PDF, or go straight to Google Slides as editable files" [11].
ChatGPT Slides vs Claude Slides
Choose by plan before features. On ChatGPT, Slides costs at least $100 a month for one person (Pro), because Plus does not include the Space access Slides needs [8][3]. On Claude, Slides costs nothing extra on any plan [9][11]. ChatGPT Slides documents element-level edits and real-time co-editing; Claude Slides documents a direct hand-off to Google Slides as editable files.
Does ChatGPT Plus include ChatGPT Slides?
No. OpenAI lists Slides for "Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans with Space access", and the pricing page shows ChatGPT Space as not included on Plus [3][8]. A Plus subscriber can still use the PowerPoint add-in, ChatGPT Work on desktop, web and mobile, and presentation plugins. For every route on every plan, see how to make a PowerPoint in ChatGPT.
Starting from a file: can Claude open a PPTX?
Not as a chat upload. Claude's file-upload list names PDF, DOCX, CSV, TXT, XLSX and more, up to 500 MB per file and 20 files per chat, but no PPTX [12]. ChatGPT's list includes PPTX, with a 512 MB limit per document or presentation [5]. That difference alone is 3 of the 7 points between them.
- The way round it on Claude. Open the deck in PowerPoint and use Claude for PowerPoint (Pro and up): the add-in works on the open file and reads its slide master [10]. Or export the old deck to PDF and upload the PDF.
- Limits worth knowing on ChatGPT. "Free users are limited to 3 file uploads per day", spreadsheets have a smaller limit than documents, and uploads are capped at 80 files every 3 hours [5].
- Long source documents. Claude accepts PDFs of up to 1,000 pages [12]; for a long report turned into a deck, that is the documented ceiling to plan around.
Which follows your company template better?
Claude, by what each vendor documents. Claude for PowerPoint "reads the slide master, layouts, fonts, and color scheme in your deck" and generates slides with "the correct layouts, fonts, and colors from the slide master" [10]. ChatGPT Slides takes an example deck to guide the style, which is a looser instruction, and it builds the deck in ChatGPT before you export it [3].
Two practical consequences. First, Anthropic's own advice is to "Start with your template already applied before asking Claude to generate content" [10]: open the template, then ask. Second, both add-ins edit your file in place, so a template rule that a team cares about (one-line bullets, an accent colour) can be written once: Claude for PowerPoint has an Instructions field in its settings for exactly that [10].
Which one cites sources on slides?
Neither, by its own pages. Both document citations in the conversation: Claude's web search says "Every response includes citations", and ChatGPT's add-in asks you to review "citations where available" [13][4]. Neither page says the source appears on the slide, so both score 3 out of 5 on research with sources.
In practice, ask either assistant to add a source line under each chart or figure and check each one against the original before you present. Numbers that came from a chat answer are the first thing a sceptical audience checks.
Do ChatGPT or Claude support Arabic slides?
Both write Arabic, but neither documents right-to-left slide layout. OpenAI's language list names Arabic [6]; Anthropic's model documentation names Arabic in a per-language table, while the claude.ai interface itself is offered in 11 languages without Arabic, adding "you can still chat with Claude in any language" [15][14]. Both score 4 on languages.
- What "right-to-left layout" means. Text that reads right to left is the start. A right-to-left slide also mirrors timelines, process arrows, table column order and the reading path. No ChatGPT or Claude page we opened describes that.
- What to check. Before you send an Arabic deck from either assistant, open the .pptx in PowerPoint and check paragraph direction, column order in tables, and numbers next to Arabic text.
For a full method to adapt an existing deck to another language, see how to translate a PowerPoint.
Can you make a PowerPoint with ChatGPT or Claude for free?
Yes, on both, by different routes. ChatGPT Free includes the PowerPoint add-in with "limited usage access" and up to 3 file uploads a day [4][5]. Claude Free includes the Slides template, which exports to PowerPoint, but not the PowerPoint add-in [11][9]. Neither states a monthly allowance, so both score 4 on the free plan.
| On a free plan | ChatGPT Free | Claude Free |
|---|---|---|
| Add-in in PowerPoint | Yes, limited use [4] | No [9][10] |
| Own deck maker | No (Slides is Pro and up) [3] | Yes, Slides template [11] |
| Upload your old .pptx | Yes, 3 uploads a day [5] | No PPTX uploads [12] |
| Stated monthly allowance | None stated [4] | None stated; "no fixed message count" [9] |
Claude or ChatGPT for PPT: which is better for your job?
Neither is better for every PowerPoint job. ChatGPT is the better documented fit when you start from an existing .pptx or need the add-in without paying; Claude fits a paid user who works inside a corporate template on a Mac or Windows, or anyone who wants a deck maker on a free plan.
| If you need… | Choose | The documented reason |
|---|---|---|
| To start from last quarter's .pptx | ChatGPT | PPTX is in its upload list; Claude's is not [5][12] |
| An add-in on a free plan | ChatGPT | Free and Go get limited use; Claude's add-in starts with Pro [4][10] |
| Your company slide master | Claude (Pro and up) | The add-in reads the slide master, layouts, fonts and colours [10] |
| A deck maker without paying | Claude | Slides template on Free; ChatGPT Slides is Pro and up [11][3] |
| Edit one element of a slide | Either (paid) | "Request edits" on a selected element in ChatGPT Slides (Pro and up); Claude for PowerPoint can "target individual slides or elements" (Pro and up) [3][10] |
| A documented Mac add-in | Claude | Mac 16.46 or later named; OpenAI names no platform [10][4] |
| Google Slides | Either | ChatGPT Work on native Slides; Claude's add-on in beta on paid plans [7][16] |
| Right-to-left Arabic slides | Neither documents it | Both list Arabic; no layout statement [6][15] |
Claude vs ChatGPT vs Gemini for PowerPoint presentations
On the same seven rules, scored on 25 October 2026 and not re-checked for this page, Google's three routes total 70 (Gemini Notebook), 66 (Gemini in Google Slides) and 64 (the Gemini app with Canvas): all below both ChatGPT and Claude. The Gemini details are on our Gemini for presentations page.
ChatGPT vs Claude for PowerPoint on Reddit: what to check
Many forum threads, Reddit included, predate ChatGPT Slides (16 October 2026), the general availability of ChatGPT for PowerPoint (6 July 2026) and Claude's Google Workspace add-on (6 October 2026). A thread that says "Claude can't export PowerPoint" or "ChatGPT has no PowerPoint add-in" describes an older product. Check the date of any thread against the vendor pages listed below.
What these rules don't measure
The seven rules measure documented capability, not the quality of the slides, so several real strengths of ChatGPT and Claude score nothing here. Read this list before you treat 90 or 87 as a verdict on your own work.
- ChatGPT: one assistant for research, writing and slides; the PowerPoint add-in on Free and Go; real-time co-editing in ChatGPT Slides on Pro, Business and Enterprise; Work's native Google Slides output [3][4][7].
- Claude: reads your slide master in the PowerPoint add-in; Claude Design design systems; strong reading of long documents (PDFs of up to 1,000 pages); one conversation shared across PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook [10][12].
- Not measured for anyone: writing quality, design taste, speed, how often a tool invents a figure, accessibility, comments and review workflows, image generation, team administration. NOXI's export notices, where complex graphics can be kept as pictures, are not scored either.
Where both assistants lead NOXI, in plain terms: they run inside PowerPoint itself through their add-ins. NOXI runs in the browser on desktop and phone and hands you an editable .pptx to open in PowerPoint.
Worked example: one product manager, one assistant or two?
For a product manager who already pays for ChatGPT Plus and makes six decks a month, two of them in Arabic, keeping Plus and adding a free deck tool costs $240 a year: $200 less than adding Claude Pro and $960 less than moving to ChatGPT Pro for Slides.
Step 1: what she makes
Amira makes 6 decks a month: 4 in English for internal reviews, built from product requirement documents (PDF) and last quarter's .pptx, and 2 in Arabic for a regional client. That is 6 × 12 = 72 decks a year. The Arabic decks must read right to left and arrive as editable PowerPoint files the client can change.
Step 2: what her current plan covers
- ChatGPT Plus ($20 a month): the PowerPoint add-in, ChatGPT Work, and uploads of her old .pptx files [4][5][8].
- Not covered: ChatGPT Slides, which needs Pro at $100 a month or more [3][8].
Step 3: the three options, priced for a year
| Option | Price used | Per year |
|---|---|---|
| A. Keep ChatGPT Plus | $20 a month | $20 × 12 = $240 |
| B. Plus and Claude Pro | $240 + Claude Pro "$200 billed up front" | $240 + $200 = $440 |
| C. Move to ChatGPT Pro | from $100 a month | $100 × 12 = $1,200 |
| NOXI for the Arabic decks | Free, 1,000 credits a month | $0 |
Per deck, option A costs $240 ÷ 72 = $3.33 and option C $1,200 ÷ 72 = $16.67. Claude Pro on monthly billing would cost $20 × 12 = $240 a year, $40 more than the annual $200.
Step 4: does the free allowance cover the Arabic decks?
Two decks a month at about 25 credits each use 2 × 25 = 50 credits, which is 50 ÷ 1,000 = 5% of the monthly allowance.
Step 5: the decision
Amira keeps ChatGPT Plus, because she already pays for it and it reads her old .pptx files. She builds the two Arabic decks in NOXI from the client brief, with right-to-left slides and embedded Arabic fonts in the PowerPoint file. She does not add a Claude subscription. Option A saves $440 − $240 = $200 a year against option B and $1,200 − $240 = $960 against option C ($80 × 12). She sets a review date of 1 February 2027, to check whether ChatGPT Slides has reached Plus or Claude's add-in has reached Free.

Here are three slides from the deck NOXI built for this article's worked example, unedited.

Where NOXI fits: the third option
NOXI is a dedicated presentation tool, not a general assistant, so it fits next to whichever assistant you keep. On these seven rules NOXI scores highest (98), and it is our pick for decks that must arrive as free, editable PowerPoint files, including right-to-left Arabic decks.
Describe your topic and NOXI builds the full deck; when you start from a prompt, it researches the topic on the web first, and slides with figures carry a source line. You can also upload a PDF, Word document, Excel or CSV file, PowerPoint or image, up to 200 MB per file, and NOXI turns it into a structured deck. Ask the AI to change one slide or the whole deck in plain language, in English or Arabic, click any element and say what to change, or use Match reference to design the deck in the style of your own PowerPoint or PDF.
NOXI offers a full Arabic interface and right-to-left slides, where timelines and tables run right to left, with four Arabic fonts. Download an editable PowerPoint (.pptx), free and with no watermark: NOXI's own export engine writes real, editable text boxes and embeds the fonts, Arabic included. Export a PDF, present full-screen or share a link. NOXI is free, with no card: each account gets a monthly allowance of 1,000 credits, and a full deck uses about 25. Your presentations, prompts and files are not used to train AI models.
If you already work in an assistant, you can also reach NOXI from there. It is published in ChatGPT's plugin directory (26 October 2026): install the plugin, connect your NOXI account and ask with @NOXI; whether you can install a plugin depends on your plan, workspace, role and region, in OpenAI's words [19][20]. Details are on NOXI in ChatGPT. Other assistants connect NOXI with the address on noxi.ai/connect [18]. For a direct head-to-head, see NOXI vs ChatGPT.
Three prompts for a deck from your own file
"Turn the attached PRD into a [number]-slide review deck for [audience]. Slide 2 states the decision we need. One slide per requirement group, a timeline slide, a risks table, and a last slide with owners and dates. Every title is a full-sentence finding."
"Create this deck in Arabic for [client], right to left, from the attached brief. Keep every number, product name and date exactly as in the file. Use a table for the plan comparison and end with next steps and a contact slide."
"On slide [number], turn the feature list into a two-column table, Before and After. Shorten every title to one line, keep the colours, then export the deck as PowerPoint."
Build it: a deck from your own file with Create from file
To turn a document you already have into a deck you can open in PowerPoint, use NOXI's Create from file: attach the PDF, Word file or PowerPoint, describe the deck, and download an editable .pptx. When you attach a file, NOXI builds from your content; web research and source lines are off by default then. One flow, six steps:
Step 1 — Sign in to NOXI with a free account
Open noxi.ai and sign in or create a free account; uploads and exports need one. No card is needed, and each account gets 1,000 credits a month.
Step 2 — Choose Create from file on Home
On NOXI Home, choose Create from file. It turns a document you already have into a structured deck.
Step 3 — Attach your PDF, Word file or PowerPoint
Attach the requirements document, report or last quarter's deck: PDF, Word, Excel or CSV, PowerPoint or an image, up to 200 MB per file.
Step 4 — Describe the deck you need
Say who it is for, how many slides, the language and the decision it supports, for example "8 slides in Arabic for the client review, right to left, ending with next steps". NOXI builds from your file's content.
Step 5 — Edit any slide or the whole deck by chat
Watch each slide being built. Then ask the AI to change one slide or the whole deck, click any element and say what to change, or edit text, tables and chart numbers on the slide.
Step 6 — Download an editable PowerPoint or a PDF
Download the deck as an editable PowerPoint (.pptx) with real text boxes and embedded fonts, Arabic included, free and with no watermark, or as a PDF. You can also present it full-screen or share a view-only or edit link.
ChatGPT vs Claude for PowerPoint: FAQ
- Is ChatGPT or Claude better for PowerPoint?
- On seven documented rules checked on 27 October 2026, ChatGPT scores 90 and Claude 87. The whole gap is file import: ChatGPT accepts PowerPoint uploads and Claude does not. Claude's add-in reads your slide master. If ChatGPT Slides or the add-in's limits are discounted, Claude moves ahead, 87 to 86.
- Can Claude make a PowerPoint for free?
- Yes, through Claude's Slides template, which is on every plan, Free included, and exports to PowerPoint, PDF or Google Slides. The Claude for PowerPoint add-in, which works inside PowerPoint itself, is not on Free: Anthropic lists it for Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans, from $17 a month billed annually.
- Does ChatGPT Plus include ChatGPT Slides?
- No. OpenAI lists ChatGPT Slides for Pro, Business and Enterprise plans with Space access, and it was still rolling out on 27 October 2026. Plus includes the ChatGPT for PowerPoint add-in, ChatGPT Work and presentation plugins. ChatGPT Pro starts at $100 a month in the US.
- Can Claude open my PowerPoint file?
- Not as a chat upload: Claude's upload list covers PDF, Word, CSV, Excel and text files, up to 500 MB each, but not PPTX. On Pro and higher plans, the Claude for PowerPoint add-in works on a deck you have open in PowerPoint. You can also save the deck as a PDF and upload that.
- Which works inside PowerPoint on a Mac?
- Claude for PowerPoint documents PowerPoint on Mac version 16.46 or later, as well as the web and Windows with a Microsoft 365 subscription. OpenAI's help page for ChatGPT for PowerPoint names no platforms, so on 27 October 2026 Mac support has to be confirmed by installing it from the Add-ins menu.
- Which follows my company template better?
- Claude, by the vendors' own pages. Claude for PowerPoint reads the slide master, layouts, fonts and colour scheme of your open deck and builds new slides with them. ChatGPT Slides takes an example deck to guide the style but builds in ChatGPT, so the result is exported rather than made inside your template.
- Which one cites sources on slides?
- Neither documents sources on the slide itself. Claude's web search says every response includes citations, and ChatGPT's add-in asks you to review citations where available, both in the conversation. Ask either one to add a source line under each figure, then check every number against the original before presenting.
- Do ChatGPT or Claude support Arabic slides?
- Both write Arabic: OpenAI's language list names it, and Anthropic's model documentation names it in a per-language table. Neither page documents right-to-left slide layout, such as mirrored timelines or table column order. Check paragraph direction, tables and numbers in PowerPoint before sending any Arabic deck from either assistant.
- Is Gemini better than both for slides?
- Not on these seven rules. Scored on 25 October 2026, Google's routes total 70 for Gemini Notebook, 66 for Gemini in Google Slides and 64 for the Gemini app with Canvas, below ChatGPT's 90 and Claude's 87. Gemini's advantage is being inside Google Slides, Drive and Gmail already.
- Where does NOXI fit?
- NOXI is a dedicated presentation tool that sits next to the assistant you keep. On the same seven rules it scores 98. It builds a deck from a prompt or your file, edits by chat in English or Arabic, makes right-to-left slides and exports a free, editable PowerPoint with no watermark.
