Disclosure: NOXI publishes this guide and is one of the tools it mentions, as one of several presentation plugins in ChatGPT and in the last step of the worked example. The six routes work without NOXI. Every route, plan and date below is quoted from OpenAI's help centre, release notes and pricing page, read on 27 October 2026. Marcus Chen in the worked example is fictional.
Quick answer: there is no single "make PowerPoint" button in ChatGPT. There are six routes, and your plan decides which ones you have. On Pro, Business or Enterprise, use ChatGPT Slides and export to PowerPoint. On any plan with PowerPoint installed, use the ChatGPT for PowerPoint add-in (limited on Free and Go). On Free, a presentation plugin is the route that returns a designed deck. Checked 27 October 2026.
Most guides to making a PowerPoint in ChatGPT were written for a product that no longer exists. They tell you to switch on agent mode, which OpenAI has retired, or to ask the chat for a file and hope it opens. Since July 2026 ChatGPT has gained a PowerPoint add-in, a plugin directory and, on 16 October 2026, its own Slides. This guide compares all six routes by plan, with the exact clicks and what the file looks like at the end. If you want the wording of the request itself, our ChatGPT prompts for presentations cover it. For how ChatGPT's slides compare with a dedicated deck tool, see NOXI vs ChatGPT for presentations. For add-ins that work inside PowerPoint, see our ranking of AI add-ins for PowerPoint.

Key numbers
Which route fits your ChatGPT plan?
Your plan decides the route: Free and Go users get the add-in with limited use, limited Work in the desktop app and plugins; Plus adds full Work on desktop, web and mobile; Pro, Business and Enterprise add ChatGPT Slides. Read your row, then jump to the route.
| Your plan (US price) | Documented routes to a deck | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Free, $0 | A presentation plugin (route 6) or the add-in with limited use (route 2); Work is "Limited (desktop app)" (route 4) | "Free users are limited to 3 file uploads per day" [8] |
| Go, $8 a month | The same as Free: plugins, the add-in with limited use, limited Work in the desktop app | "This plan may include ads" [12] |
| Plus, $20 a month | The add-in (route 2), Work on "Desktop, web, and mobile" (route 4), plugins (route 6) | Slides is not included: the pricing table shows ChatGPT Space as No on Plus [12] |
| Pro, from $100 a month | ChatGPT Slides (route 1), plus every other route | "Your choice of 3 usage tiers"; OpenAI's Work page names Pro $100, Pro $200 and Pro $500 [4][12] |
| Business, from $20 a seat a month billed annually ($25 monthly) | Slides, the add-in, Google Slides through Work | Admins decide which plugins and apps members can use [9] |
Prices are as shown on chatgpt.com/pricing for the United States on 27 October 2026; your country's page may show a different currency. Enterprise and Edu are priced through sales and run Slides, the add-in and Work under their administrators' settings [1][2][4].

Can ChatGPT make a PowerPoint?
Yes. In four of the six routes ChatGPT itself produces or edits a PowerPoint file; in route 5 it writes a Google Slides file, and in route 6 a connected service builds the deck. What changes between them is the plan you need, how designed the result is, and whether you edit it inside PowerPoint, inside ChatGPT or in another tool. The table below lists all six with OpenAI's own wording. For a hands-on comparison of ChatGPT's slides with a dedicated deck tool on the same brief, see NOXI vs ChatGPT.
Two words cause most of the confusion. Chat and Work are the two modes of ChatGPT: OpenAI describes Chat as "fast, conversational assistance" and Work as "an agent designed for longer, multi-step work and finished deliverables" [4]. Most deck-making features now live in Work. And there is no separate "ChatGPT PPT maker" app: when a page offers one, it is either one of the routes below or a third-party site.
The six routes at a glance
The six ways to get a PowerPoint out of ChatGPT are ChatGPT Slides, the ChatGPT for PowerPoint add-in, a .pptx requested in the chat, ChatGPT Work, Google Slides through Work, and a presentation plugin. Each row quotes the OpenAI page that documents it, read on 27 October 2026.
| # | Route | Plans | What you get | OpenAI's words |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | ChatGPT Slides (Work, or Space > Create > Slide) | Pro, Business, Enterprise "with Space access"; rolling out | A shared, editable deck in ChatGPT; web export to PowerPoint, PDF or Google Slides | "Slides is rolling out to eligible accounts." [1] |
| 2 | ChatGPT for PowerPoint (add-in) | Free, Go, Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, Edu, K-12 | Edits inside your own .pptx, in a PowerPoint sidebar | "Free and Go include limited usage access." [2] |
| 3 | Ask for a .pptx in the chat | No OpenAI page ties it to a plan | A file saved to your Library; usually a plain design | "If prompted directly, ChatGPT will provide a PowerPoint or Google Slides presentation." (Work context) [1] |
| 4 | ChatGPT Work (replaced agent mode) | Free and Go "Limited (desktop app)"; Plus and Pro "Desktop, web, and mobile" | Finished files, presentations included | "create a document, spreadsheet, presentation, report, or Site" [4][12] |
| 5 | Google Slides through Work | Where the Google Workspace app is enabled | A real Google Slides file in your Drive | "ChatGPT Work supports native Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides" [5] |
| 6 | A presentation plugin (Canva, Gamma, Figma, NOXI and others) | Directory on every plan; each plugin has its own limits | The vendor's designed deck; .pptx by the vendor's export rules | "The plugin directory is available across ChatGPT plans." [9] |
A seventh method circulates in tutorials: asking ChatGPT for VBA or Python code that builds slides. It is not an OpenAI route, and you run the code yourself; it has its own section below.

Route 1: ChatGPT Slides, step by step
ChatGPT Slides is OpenAI's own presentation editor, launched on 16 October 2026 for Pro, Business and Enterprise plans with Space access; you create the deck from Work or from Space, edit it in ChatGPT and export it to PowerPoint on the web [1][3]. OpenAI's page, updated on 27 October 2026, adds that "Slides is rolling out to eligible accounts. If you don't see it yet, it may not be available for your account" [1].
How to create ChatGPT slides
- Open Work and ask ChatGPT to "create ChatGPT slides". OpenAI's advice: "Describe the topic, audience, and material it should cover" [1].
- Give it material. "You can use an existing conversation or attach source files" [1]. ChatGPT allows "up to 80 files every 3 hours", and Free is limited to 3 uploads a day [8].
- Or start in Space: select Create > Slide, then "Start with a blank slide or choose a template" [1].
- Guide the look with an example. "Share an example deck with ChatGPT to guide the style and layout" [1].
- Edit. You can edit "text, images, shapes, tables, and charts directly". To change one element, "select the element, then select Request edits and describe the change" [1].
- Export. On the web, export to PowerPoint "to continue editing a .pptx file", to PDF, or to Google Slides [1].
What to watch for in Slides
- Windows desktop. On Windows devices without the required MXC component, the desktop app uses PowerPoint (.pptx) files instead of collaborative Slides, and "Windows 10 does not support this component" [1]. Use ChatGPT on the web instead.
- Fonts. "On the web, the font picker shows fonts available in your browser"; on desktop, ChatGPT can use the system fonts on your computer [1]. If your exported .pptx will be opened on another machine, read our guide to embedding fonts in PowerPoint first.
- Collaboration. People with edit access can edit at the same time and use shared comments; "Comment-only access isn't available at launch" [1].
- Review. OpenAI asks you to "check its content and formatting" after export [1].
If you are on Pro or Business, Slides is the most complete route, because the deck stays editable in ChatGPT and leaves as a .pptx. On every other plan, the pricing table lists ChatGPT Space as No, and Slides needs Space [12].
Route 2: the ChatGPT for PowerPoint add-in
ChatGPT for PowerPoint is an add-in from Microsoft Marketplace that puts ChatGPT in a sidebar inside PowerPoint; it is "available globally to Free, Go, Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, ChatGPT Edu, and K-12 users", and "Free and Go include limited usage access" [2]. It became generally available on 6 July 2026 [3]. It is the one route that works on your own file, in your own template, on every plan.
How to install it
OpenAI's steps, from its help page updated on 21 October 2026 [2]:
- Open Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Go to Home, then Add-ins.
- Search for ChatGPT.
- Add it, then open ChatGPT from the ribbon.
- Sign in with the ChatGPT account that has access.
In a company, a Microsoft 365 admin can deploy it with a manifest file under Integrated apps > Deploy Add-in [2]. OpenAI's page does not list which PowerPoint versions (Windows, Mac or web) it supports, so check the Marketplace listing for your setup.
What it does well, and its stated limits
OpenAI's examples are practical: "Build a 10-slide board update from these notes and KPIs", "Add a risks slide after the market overview", "Tighten this deck for an executive audience" [2]. Its tips: say what to change and what to keep, and "Ask for a plan first when you are making larger edits" [2].
The page lists its own limits plainly. Generated slides "may not always match a preferred style perfectly", and "Some advanced PowerPoint editing, chart, shape, formatting, and slide-management capabilities may be limited or still in development" [2]. Usage on Plus, Pro and Business is "subject to your plan's agentic usage limit", and larger decks "may use more of your plan's available usage" [2]. On Free, that limited allowance is best kept for the last edits rather than for drafting a whole deck.
Where supported, the add-in can also use plugins and skills: click + in the sidebar for Skills and apps, or use @ in your prompt [2]. For other AI add-ins that work inside PowerPoint, our add-ins ranking compares them.
Route 3: asking for a .pptx in the chat, and why it looks plain
You can ask ChatGPT to turn an outline into a .pptx file and download it, but no OpenAI help page ties this to a plan, and the result is usually a plain design: white slides with titles and bullets. OpenAI's Slides page states the behaviour in a Work context: "If prompted directly, ChatGPT will provide a PowerPoint or Google Slides presentation" [1].
Where the file goes is documented. "The files you upload to and create in ChatGPT are saved to your Library", which is available on Free, Go, Plus, Pro and Business, including the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the United Kingdom [7]. Library "is available on web", and if your account has Space, "Space takes the place of Library" [7]. Free accounts get up to 500 MB of Library storage [7].
OpenAI's data-analysis help page, which older guides cite for this route, does not mention PowerPoint today. So treat this route as useful but undocumented: it works best for a first draft whose structure you will keep and whose design you will replace.
Turn the outline above into a downloadable PowerPoint file (.pptx) with [12] slides. One slide per outline point, the slide title as a full-sentence takeaway, at most 3 bullets of 12 words per slide. Use only facts from my material; mark anything you are unsure of with [check]. Give me the download link when the file is ready.
How to download the PPT from ChatGPT
When ChatGPT creates a file, it appears in the reply as a download, and a copy is saved to your Library on the web [7]. In Slides (route 1), use the export option instead: on the web you choose PowerPoint, PDF or Google Slides [1]. If a reply gives you text instead of a file, ask again for "a downloadable .pptx file"; if it still returns text, paste the outline into PowerPoint or move to route 2 or 6.
Why the file looks plain
A chat reply that produces a file has no slide master, brand colours or image plan unless you give it one, so it falls back to the simplest layout. Three things help: attach a reference .pptx and ask ChatGPT to follow its layout, ask for one idea and one visual suggestion per slide, or redesign the finished file in a design tool. Our guide to making a PowerPoint look better with AI compares the tools for that last step.
Route 4: ChatGPT Work, and what happened to agent mode
Agent mode is gone: OpenAI's help page now opens with "ChatGPT agent is no longer available. Use ChatGPT Work for longer, multi-step tasks and finished deliverables" [6]. Work arrived on 9 July 2026 and can "create a document, spreadsheet, presentation, report, or Site" [3][4]. Every guide that tells you to pick agent mode from the tools menu describes a feature that has been retired.
Where you can use Work depends on the plan. OpenAI's Work page says "Work is available on ChatGPT web and mobile for eligible paid plans", and in the desktop app "when included for your plan and workspace" [4]. The pricing table is more specific: Free and Go show ChatGPT Work as "Limited (desktop app)", and Plus and Pro as "Desktop, web, and mobile" [12]. So a Free user can try Work for a presentation, in the ChatGPT desktop app, within a limited allowance.
Two details matter for PowerPoint users. In the desktop app, "PowerPoint is not included in this Work desktop flow at launch", so Work does not drive PowerPoint the way the add-in does [5]. And Work can start from a template: OpenAI suggests prompts such as "Use this presentation's master slides and section order, but replace the content with the attached customer research" [5]. That is the closest a ChatGPT route comes to keeping your own template without the add-in.
Work on Pro, Business and Enterprise is also where Slides starts: you ask Work to "create ChatGPT slides" [1]. Plus has no Space, so Slides is not available there [12]; Work on Plus can still "create a document, spreadsheet, presentation, report, or Site" [4].
Route 5: ChatGPT for Google Slides
ChatGPT makes Google Slides in two documented ways: ChatGPT Work creates or edits native Google Slides when the Google Workspace app is connected, and ChatGPT Slides on the web exports a finished deck to Google Slides [1][5]. OpenAI's wording: "ChatGPT Work supports native Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides when the relevant Google Workspace app is enabled" [5].
The steps on OpenAI's page are three: connect the Google Workspace app in ChatGPT, open Work and "ask ChatGPT to create or edit a Google Doc, Sheet, or Slide", then review the file in Google Workspace [5]. Since 25 March 2026, Google's file connectors are unified under one Google Drive app, so you connect once for Drive, Docs, Sheets and Slides [3]. Google Drive inside Library "is rolling out to Plus, Pro, Enterprise, Edu, Healthcare and Business users on the web" [7].
You can also start from an existing Google Slides deck as a template: Work accepts "a link to a Google Doc, Sheet, or Slides presentation", and "Creating a template doesn't change the original Google file" [5]. Before sharing a new file, OpenAI advises checking "its location and sharing settings" [5]. For Google's own AI inside Slides, and other add-ons, see our guide to the best AI for Google Slides.
Route 6: presentation plugins in ChatGPT
A presentation plugin connects ChatGPT to a deck-making service such as Canva, Gamma, Figma or NOXI, which builds a designed deck and returns it to the chat; the plugin directory "is available across ChatGPT plans", and the pricing table marks "Discover & use Plugins" as Yes on Free, Go, Plus and Pro [9][12]. On a Free plan, this is the documented route that returns a designed deck rather than plain slides.
How to add and use a plugin
- "Go to Plugins on the sidebar on ChatGPT web, desktop, or mobile" [9].
- Search for the service and open its listing; "The directory shows plugins available to your plan and workspace" [9].
- "Select Install plugin if shown", then "select Connect for an app that requires account authorization" [9].
- In a chat, "select a plugin directly with an @ mention, select + and enter its name, or select Plugins in the composer" [9]. ChatGPT also "automatically uses your installed plugins when they're relevant" [9].
Two limits apply to every plugin. "Installing or using an individual plugin depends on your plan, workspace, role, region, and its included capabilities" [9], and "App use may count toward your ChatGPT plan limits" [10]. You manage or disconnect plugins under Settings > Plugins [10].
Which presentation plugins, and what to check
The ChatGPT plugin directory lists many presentation makers. Before you pick one, check three things on the vendor's own pages: whether the free plan exports .pptx, whether there is a watermark or badge, and how many credits a deck uses. Five examples, from the vendors' pages read on 27 October 2026:
| Plugin | Free plan, in the vendor's words | PowerPoint file |
|---|---|---|
| Canva | The ChatGPT connection is "available for all Canva accounts, including Canva Free" [15] | Downloads as PPTX "may look different when opened in Microsoft Powerpoint" [15] |
| Gamma | "Each new Free user receives 400 credits"; "credits do not refresh" [16] | PPTX export; on Free, exports carry a "Made by Gamma" badge [16] |
| Figma | The route is "Available on any Figma plan"; a ChatGPT deck uses "28-72+" credits [17] | "Import/Export to Powerpoint" listed on Starter; the ChatGPT feature is "currently not available in the EU" [17] |
| Presentations.AI | Starter is $0 with "200 credits" and "Up to 20 Slides" [18] | "PowerPoint / PDF Export" ticked on Starter [18] |
| NOXI | Uses your free NOXI credits: a deck about 25 of 1,000 a month; exports are free [20] | PDF, PowerPoint (.pptx) and HTML files returned in the chat [19] |
Our ranking of ChatGPT plugins for presentations scores ten of them on the same printed rules. One of them is ours: NOXI is published in ChatGPT's plugin directory, approved and published on 26 October 2026. In OpenAI's steps, open Plugins in the sidebar, search for NOXI, select Install plugin, then Connect and sign in to NOXI; in a chat, use @NOXI or select + and choose NOXI [9]. As with every plugin, installing it "depends on your plan, workspace, role, region" [9]. NOXI creates a designed deck from your request or outline, edits it, exports PDF, PowerPoint or HTML, and lists your decks and templates; the results come back in the chat with preview images and files [19]. It uses your free NOXI credits: a deck uses about 25 of the 1,000 a month, and exports are free [20]. The NOXI plugin announcement has the details.
How to make a PPT using ChatGPT and Canva
Canva was one of OpenAI's pilot partners when apps launched on 6 October 2025, and OpenAI's own example was to "start with an outline and ask Canva to transform it into a slide deck" [13]. Today it works as a plugin: install Canva from Plugins, connect your Canva account, then write the outline in ChatGPT and ask @Canva to make it a presentation. Open the result in Canva to keep editing, and download it as PPTX if you need PowerPoint [15].
Region and the end of custom GPTs
When OpenAI launched apps on 6 October 2025, they were available "outside of the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom", with EU users expected "soon" [13]. We found no OpenAI page that lifts the limit, so if you are in those markets, check the directory from your own account. Figma's help page says its ChatGPT feature is "currently not available in the EU" [17].
Older guides also recommend "presentation GPTs". OpenAI says "Custom GPTs are scheduled to retire on Dec 11, 2026" and is moving creators to plugins [11]. A workflow you build today should use a plugin, not a GPT.
How to make a PPT using ChatGPT on mobile
On a phone, the documented routes are plugins, which OpenAI lists for "web, desktop, or mobile", and ChatGPT Work, which runs on mobile for eligible paid plans; ChatGPT Slides rolled out on the web and in the desktop app, and its export to PowerPoint is a web feature [1][3][4][9].
- Plugins on mobile. The Plugins section is in the sidebar on mobile too, but OpenAI warns that "Some tools, interactive views, or apps may be available only on desktop, web, or mobile" [9]. A plugin's result card may look different on a phone, so open the deck on a computer before you present it.
- Work on mobile. Work runs "on ChatGPT web and mobile for eligible paid plans", and Voice in Work lets you "create documents, presentations, and spreadsheets" by speaking [4]. Free and Go get Work only in the desktop app [12].
- Uploads on mobile. Document, spreadsheet and presentation uploads work "on the web and in supported mobile apps", within the same plan limits [8].
- Files. Library is a web feature, so downloads you created on a phone are easiest to find later on the web [7].
A practical rule for phones: draft the outline in the mobile app, then build and export the deck on a computer, where every route is available.
VBA and Python code from ChatGPT: it can work, but you run it
Asking ChatGPT to write VBA macro code or a Python script that generates slides is not an OpenAI route: no OpenAI help page documents it, and you run the code yourself, in PowerPoint's macro editor or in your own Python environment. It still appears in many tutorials because it worked before the add-in existed.
It can make sense for one narrow job: generating many identical slides from a list, such as 40 product cards from a spreadsheet. For an ordinary deck it adds risk without adding design. Four rules if you try it:
- Read the code before running it.Pass: you can say what each block does; nothing deletes, saves over or uploads files.
- Work on a copy.Pass: the macro runs on a duplicate of your deck, as OpenAI also advises for the add-in ("duplicate the file first") [2].
- Keep macros out of shared files.Pass: the file you send is a normal .pptx, not a macro-enabled file.
- Check the output like any draft.Pass: every number on the slides matches your source.
If the goal is simply a deck, routes 2, 3 and 6 reach the same place with fewer steps.
Is ChatGPT good at making presentations?
ChatGPT is good at the thinking part of a presentation: the storyline, the slide titles, a draft of the text and a first structure from your documents. Its built-in routes are weaker on design, and OpenAI's own pages say so: the add-in's slides "may not always match a preferred style perfectly", and every route asks you to review the output [1][2].
Three checks make any ChatGPT deck safer to present:
- Figures. The add-in page says "Outputs may be incomplete or incorrect. Review claims, numbers, citations where available" [2]. In Work you can "highlight a claim and ask for its source" [5]. Check every number against your own material before a meeting.
- Design. A file requested in the chat is plain by default. Slides on Pro and Business, a template in Work, or a presentation plugin give a designed result.
- Format. Open the exported .pptx in PowerPoint on the machine you will present from, and check fonts, charts and layout. OpenAI asks the same after a Slides export [1].
With those checks, ChatGPT is a fast way to go from a document to a deck. Without them, it is a fast way to present an invented number.
Worked example: a 12-slide seminar deck on ChatGPT Free
A student on ChatGPT Free can produce an editable, designed 12-slide deck from a 30-page PDF for $0, by combining the routes his plan allows instead of paying for Pro. Here is the plan, with the arithmetic.
Step 1: which routes his plan allows
| Route | On Marcus's Free plan | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| 1 · Slides | Needs Pro: $100 a month × 12 = $1,200 a year | No |
| 2 · Add-in | Works on Free with limited use, inside PowerPoint | Yes, for last edits |
| 3 · .pptx in chat | No page promises it on Free; the result is plain | Yes, as a draft |
| 4 · Work | "Limited (desktop app)" on Free | Backup if the chat gives text only |
| 6 · Plugin | The directory is open on Free; each vendor sets its own limits | The alternative to steps 3 to 4 below |
Step 2: the outline, inside the upload limit
Free allows 3 file uploads a day [8]. Marcus uses 1 for the 30-page PDF (well under the 512 MB limit) and asks Chat for a 12-slide outline with an action title per slide. That is 30 ÷ 12 = 2.5 pages of paper per slide, so he asks ChatGPT to follow the paper's argument rather than its section order and to give the page number behind each point. He keeps 2 uploads in reserve.
Step 3: the plain draft
He asks Chat to turn the outline into a 12-slide .pptx (route 3). No OpenAI page promises this on Free, so he treats it as a try. In this example the file comes back plain: white slides, titles and bullets, no images. If it had come back as text only, his fallback was limited Work in the desktop app.
Step 4: the design
He uploads the plain file to NOXI and uses Beautify my deck, which keeps every slide's content, slide count and order, facts and numbers and improves layout, hierarchy, typography, spacing, colour and imagery. He downloads the result as an editable .pptx. One NOXI deck uses about 25 of the 1,000 free monthly credits, which is 25 ÷ 1,000 = 2.5% of his allowance [20].
Step 5: the last edits, in PowerPoint
He opens the file in PowerPoint and uses the ChatGPT for PowerPoint add-in, within Free's limited use, for two targeted changes: "Add a risks slide after the method slide" and "Tighten slide 9 for an examiner". He checks every figure against the PDF before sending the file.
The cost
| Option | Cost for a year | Slides included? |
|---|---|---|
| Pro | $100 × 12 = $1,200 | Yes |
| Plus | $20 × 12 = $240 | No |
| Marcus's Free mix | $0 | Not needed |
Against Pro, his mix saves $1,200 a year; against Plus, $240, and Plus would not have given him Slides anyway. The single route that would have replaced steps 3 and 4 is a presentation plugin (route 6), which returns a designed deck in the chat.

Here are three slides from the deck NOXI built for this article's worked example, unedited.

Three prompts for the NOXI step
If you take the plain .pptx from ChatGPT into NOXI, these three prompts cover the common cases. The first goes with Beautify my deck; the other two are follow-up edits in NOXI's chat.
This [12]-slide deck was drafted in ChatGPT for [a university seminar / a client meeting]. Keep every slide's text, the slide order and every number exactly as they are. Give it a clean, [academic / corporate] look with one clear visual per slide, and use [navy and white] as the main colours.
Slides [4], [7] and [9] are still bullet lists. Turn slide [4] into a three-step process, slide [7] into a comparison table with the same figures, and slide [9] into a timeline from [2024] to [2027]. Do not change any number.
Create an Arabic version of this deck for [a Gulf client]. Keep the names, numbers and slide order, write the slides right to left, and keep product names in Latin letters as their companies write them.
Build it in NOXI: turn a plain ChatGPT .pptx into a designed deck
To redesign the plain PowerPoint that ChatGPT gave you, use NOXI's Beautify my deck: attach the file, and NOXI keeps the content, slide count and order, facts and numbers while improving the design, then exports an editable .pptx or PDF. Six steps:
Step 1: Download the .pptx from ChatGPT
Save the file ChatGPT created from your outline, from the reply or from your Library on the web. Open it once to check that every slide has its title and text.
Step 2: Open NOXI and choose Beautify my deck
Sign in to NOXI with a free account and choose Beautify my deck on the Home screen. Uploading a file needs a free account; there is no card and no watermark.
Step 3: Attach your deck and say what to keep
Attach the .pptx and add a short brief: the audience, the look you want and anything that must stay exactly as written. Prompt 1 above is a ready brief.
Step 4: Let NOXI redesign every slide
NOXI keeps every slide's content, slide count and order, facts and numbers, and improves layout, hierarchy, typography, spacing, colour and imagery. You can watch each slide being built.
Step 5: Edit by chat or on the slide
Ask the AI to change one slide or the whole deck in plain words, click any element and say what to change, or edit text, tables and chart numbers directly on the slide.
Step 6: Export an editable PowerPoint or PDF
Download the deck as an editable PowerPoint (.pptx) with real text boxes and embedded fonts, Arabic included, or as a PDF. A full deck uses about 25 of your 1,000 free monthly credits.
If your supervisor or client has a template you must follow, NOXI's Match reference action, a separate option on the Home screen, builds a deck in the style of a file you upload.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I make a PowerPoint in ChatGPT?
- Pick the route your plan allows. On Pro, Business or Enterprise, ask Work to create ChatGPT slides and export to PowerPoint on the web. On any plan, install the ChatGPT for PowerPoint add-in. On Free, a presentation plugin returns a designed deck. You can also ask the chat for a .pptx, which usually comes out plain.
- Can ChatGPT Free make a PowerPoint?
- Yes. The ChatGPT for PowerPoint add-in works on Free with limited use, presentation plugins are included on Free, and Free has limited ChatGPT Work in the desktop app. ChatGPT Slides is not on Free, and no OpenAI page promises a .pptx from the chat on Free. Free allows 3 uploads a day.
- Which ChatGPT plan has Slides?
- ChatGPT Slides is available on Pro, Business and Enterprise plans with Space access, according to OpenAI's help page on 27 October 2026, and it is still rolling out to eligible accounts. The cheapest individual plan with Slides is Pro, from $100 a month. Free, Go and Plus show ChatGPT Space as not included.
- How do I download a PPT from ChatGPT?
- If ChatGPT creates a .pptx in the chat, download it from the reply; a copy is also saved to your Library on the web. In ChatGPT Slides, use the export option on the web and choose PowerPoint, PDF or Google Slides. With the add-in, the slides are already in your PowerPoint file, so you simply save it.
- Why does my ChatGPT PowerPoint look plain?
- A .pptx requested in the chat has no slide master, brand colours or image plan unless you supply them, so it uses the simplest layout. Attach a reference deck and ask ChatGPT to follow its layout, use a template in Work, use Slides on a paid plan, or redesign the finished file in a design tool.
- Can ChatGPT make Google Slides?
- Yes. ChatGPT Work creates and edits native Google Slides when the Google Workspace app is connected, according to OpenAI's help centre. On Pro, Business and Enterprise, ChatGPT Slides can also export a finished deck to Google Slides on the web. Since 25 March 2026, one Google Drive app covers Drive, Docs, Sheets and Slides.
- Is ChatGPT agent mode gone?
- Yes. OpenAI's help page says ChatGPT agent is no longer available and points users to ChatGPT Work for longer, multi-step tasks and finished deliverables. Work launched on 9 July 2026 and can create documents, spreadsheets, presentations, reports and Sites. Guides that tell you to select agent mode from the tools menu are out of date.
- Can I make slides in the ChatGPT phone app?
- Partly. Plugins are available on web, desktop and mobile, and ChatGPT Work runs on mobile for eligible paid plans, including by voice. ChatGPT Slides rolled out on the web and in the desktop app, and its PowerPoint export is a web feature. Draft on the phone, then build and export the deck on a computer.
- Should I use VBA code from ChatGPT to make slides?
- Only for narrow, repetitive jobs, such as many identical slides from a list. No OpenAI page documents it as a route, and you run the code yourself. Read the code first, run it on a copy of your deck, and send a normal .pptx rather than a macro-enabled file. For an ordinary deck, the add-in or a plugin is simpler.
- Can I make a PowerPoint in ChatGPT with a plugin?
- Yes. Open Plugins in the ChatGPT sidebar, search for a presentation maker such as Canva, Gamma, Figma or NOXI, select Install plugin and Connect, then mention it with @ in a chat. The plugin builds a designed deck and returns it to the chat. Each plugin has its own plan, region and export rules.
Sources & methodology
How this page was made: every OpenAI page was read in a browser on 27 October 2026; where a help page shows a relative date ("Updated: 6 days ago"), we give the calendar date it implies. Vendor plugin facts come from each vendor's own help and pricing pages, read the same day. No plan was bought and no plugin was installed for this guide; the worked example is fictional, with its arithmetic shown. All sources checked 27 October 2026.
