Disclosure: NOXI publishes this page and is one of the tools scored. That's why the rules, weights and the source of every cell are printed, along with where NOXI loses points.
Quick answer: Choose a vendor-hosted MCP server with OAuth sign-in if you want a finished, editable deck from one request; choose a local community server if you want low-level control of a .pptx and will run it yourself. On our six rules NOXI scores 96, Gamma 88, Presentations.AI 85 and Canva 84 (checked 27 October 2026).
Directories list dozens of PowerPoint MCP servers. If you work in Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or VS Code, the useful question is narrower: which server returns a whole deck you can open in PowerPoint, who hosts it, and what it costs. This page scores ten servers on exactly that, for the clients developers use; plugins installed from ChatGPT's own directory have their own top 10 of ChatGPT plugins for presentations.
In short
- Top 10NOXI 96, Gamma 88, Presentations.AI 85, Canva 84, PowerPoint MCP (ykuwai/ppt-mcp, community) 83, Plus AI 78, Figma 77, MagicSlides 76, Beautiful.ai 73, Pitch 73.
- Hosted or localNine of the ten are vendor-hosted remote servers you add by URL and sign in to in the browser (eight document OAuth); ppt-mcp runs on your own machine and drives a live PowerPoint.
- MicrosoftMicrosoft's Agent 365 tooling page (updated 8 October 2026) names no PowerPoint server; its Word server is part of a legacy experience.
Key numbers
How we scored: rubric M, six rules for MCP servers that make decks
Rubric M rates each server 1 to 5 on six criteria. It starts from the export and free-plan anchors of our AI presentation tools ranking and adds four rules that only matter for a server: who hosts it, which clients it documents, whether one call makes a whole deck, and which edit and export tools it exposes.
| Code | Criterion (weight) | The rule, identical for every server |
|---|---|---|
| M1 | Official hosted server (15) | 5 = vendor-hosted remote server with OAuth sign-in documented; 4 = vendor-hosted with an API key; 3 = the vendor's official local server; 2 = community or open-source server; 1 = none. |
| M2 | Clients documented (10) | 5 = vendor setup steps for 4 or more named clients; 4 = 3; 3 = 2; 2 = 1, or "any MCP client" only; 1 = none. A client counts only with setup steps. |
| M3 | Whole deck from one request (20) | 5 = one tool creates a whole multi-slide deck from a prompt and from content the assistant passes (a draft, outline, notes, text sources, uploads or a deck); 4 = from a prompt only; 3 = builds slides step by step through many low-level calls; 2 = edits an existing file only, or copies a template; 1 = none. |
| M4 | Editable PowerPoint returned (20) | 5 = an editable .pptx free with no badge, or the server edits the native PowerPoint or Google Slides file; 4 = paid only, or badged; 3 = the vendor documents visual differences, or editability is not stated; 2 = PDF or images only; 1 = no file. |
| M5 | Edit and export tools (15) | 5 = tools to edit an existing deck's content and to export it; 4 = one of the two; 3 = read or list only; 1 = none. Renaming or moving a deck is not editing. |
| M6 | Free use (20) | 5 = free use through the server documented, no card, a stated monthly allowance or free-to-run-locally software, no watermark; 4 = free with a badge, a free pool with no stated period, or free use that the server's own page doesn't state; 3 = free generation, export paid; 2 = trial or paid API credits; 1 = paid only. |
The last clause of M6 is the "silent page, lower anchor" rule written out: noxi.ai/connect states no price, so NOXI's connector gets 4 for free use although the whole product is free. The alternative, 100, is printed below; every competitor with an M6 of 5 has a server page that states free use itself.
The top 10 MCP servers for PowerPoint, scored
NOXI scores highest on these six rules; ppt-mcp, one point behind Canva, is the only local server in the ten. "(v)" marks a cell resting on a cautious reading; its alternative is in the sensitivity list.
| # | Server | Score | Best when |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | NOXI | 96 | You want one request to return a designed deck as an editable .pptx, PDF and HTML in the chat, from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code or Codex, on a free account. |
| 2 | Gamma | 88 | You already design in Gamma and want generate, edit and export tools on every Gamma plan, including Free. |
| 3 | Presentations.AI | 85 | You work in Claude Code or Claude and want decks from a prompt or pasted sources with a fully editable PPTX. |
| 4 | Canva | 84 | Your team's designs live in Canva and the assistant should edit and export them, on any Canva plan. |
| 5 | PowerPoint MCP (ykuwai/ppt-mcp) | 83 | You want an agent to drive a running PowerPoint shape by shape, inside your own template, on your own machine. |
| 6 | Plus AI | 78 | You already pay for Plus AI and want its agent to create or restyle native PowerPoint decks from Claude Code. |
| 7 | Figma | 77 | Your slides live in Figma Slides and the assistant should write to the canvas with your design system. |
| 8 | MagicSlides | 76 | You want your assistant to write the content and a template to lay it out, with one-click setup in Claude, Cursor and VS Code. |
| 9 | Beautiful.ai | 73 | You want decks from notes or transcripts in Beautiful.ai's smart layouts, from Claude or ChatGPT, on a paid plan. |
| 10 | Pitch | 73 | Your team presents in Pitch and the agent should fill your Pitch template from a prompt. |

Every cell and its arithmetic
Every rating, then the points. A low rating means "not documented on the pages we opened", not "can't".

| 10 | Pitch | 15 + 6 + 16 + 12 + 12 + 12 | 73 |
Beautiful.ai and Pitch tie at 73; the first tie-break, M3, puts Beautiful.ai ninth (5 against 4).
Where the gaps come from
- NOXI − Gamma = 8: M4 +8 (an editable .pptx with real text boxes and embedded fonts, against Gamma's documented export differences). All other criteria level, including free use (4 = 4). Check: 8 = 96 − 88.
- Gamma − Presentations.AI = 3: M2 +4 (five documented clients against two), M5 +3 (Presentations.AI's deck patch tool only renames, moves or changes visibility), M4 −4. Check: 4 + 3 − 4 = 3.
- Canva − ppt-mcp = 1: M1 +9 (hosted with OAuth against a community server), M4 −8 (ppt-mcp edits the native PowerPoint file). Check: 9 − 8 = 1.
Below the ten, and servers not ranked
| Server | Score | Why it is not in the ten |
|---|---|---|
| SlideSpeak | 72 | Hosted with an API key; steps for Claude Desktop only; API from $49 a month. |
| 2slides | 70 | Hosted with an API key; steps for Claude Code and Claude Desktop; paid credits. |
| Decktopus | 66 | OAuth, steps for Claude only; no edit or export tool documented. |
| Office-PowerPoint-MCP-Server (GongRzhe) | 77 | Archived by its owner on 3 March 2026 and read-only, so it gets no further fixes. |
| Zapier MCP → Google Slides | 76 | A route that copies a template and fills placeholders, not a deck maker. |
| Google Slides MCP | 65 | Developer Preview with read and update tools only; no create tool. |
| Microsoft | — | No PowerPoint server is named on its Agent 365 tooling page. |
| Genspark, Manus, Kimi | — | MCP clients that use other servers' tools; none documents a server of its own for slides. |
How sensitive the order is
Every reading that could move a total:
- NOXI 100 if NOXI being free product-wide (no paid plan exists) counts for M6; NOXI 92 if "a brief or an outline" is read as text only (M3 = 4). NOXI scores highest on every reading.
- Presentations.AI 89 if its API page's "Free tier included" and "10 presentations/month" govern over "200 credits one-time"; the same page says both.
- Canva 88 if its generate-design tool counts as a whole multi-slide deck (M3 = 4; no official example shows a deck); 80 if Canva Free's AI allowance is not read as a stated monthly allowance.
- ppt-mcp 79 if needing an installed Microsoft PowerPoint disqualifies "free to run locally" (M6 = 4).
- Plus AI 84 if ChatGPT, Claude, Codex and Cursor, named on its feature page without steps, count as documented clients (M2 = 5).
- MagicSlides 88, level with Gamma, if its MCP page's "During early access, all tools are free to use" governs over the pricing page, which lists MCP only in paid plans (M6 = 4). Every tie-break cell is then equal.
- Decktopus 72 if its listing tools count as read or list tools (M5 = 3); 2slides 66 if its userInput field is read as prompt only (M3 = 4). Neither change moves a server into the ten.
- Figma 74 if "Allow access" without the word OAuth is read as anchor 4 (M1 = 4); Figma 81 if Starter's monthly MCP allowance plus "free during the beta period" counts as stated free use (M6 = 5).
Hosted vs local PowerPoint MCP servers: what changes
A hosted (remote) MCP server runs on the vendor's machines: paste one URL, sign in, and one tool call returns a finished deck. A local server runs on your computer, works on files or a running PowerPoint, and the assistant builds the deck through many small calls.

| Question | Hosted server (NOXI, Gamma, Canva and most of the ten) | Local server (ppt-mcp, GongRzhe) |
|---|---|---|
| Setup | Paste a URL, sign in once in the browser | Install a runtime (ppt-mcp uses uv), add a command to each client's config |
| Sign-in | OAuth on the vendor's site; no key in your config | None: it runs with your own user's permissions |
| One request | A whole deck, designed by the vendor's engine | Many calls: add slide, add shape, set text, format |
| Your template | Depends on the vendor (style references, themes, templates) | Any template you open: the server edits it directly |
| Needs PowerPoint? | No | ppt-mcp: yes, a running Microsoft PowerPoint; GongRzhe: no (python-pptx) |
The rule: hosted when the deck's design is the job, local when a locked corporate template must keep every master. The worked example below keeps one of each.
Is there an official PowerPoint MCP server from Microsoft?
Not one that Microsoft names on its MCP pages today. Microsoft's Agent 365 page on MCP server options (ms.date 8 October 2026) lists Microsoft-hosted servers for Copilot, Calendar, Mail, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, User and Word, plus Windows 365 for Agents, Fabric and Dataverse; none is a PowerPoint server.
Those eight workload servers, Word included, are what Microsoft calls a legacy experience retained for backward compatibility; new projects are pointed to Work IQ MCP. Copilot in PowerPoint is a feature of the app, not a server you add to Claude or Cursor. Every "PowerPoint MCP server" on GitHub is a community project or a presentation vendor's own server. For AI that works inside the PowerPoint window itself, see our guide to AI PowerPoint add-ins.
How to add a PowerPoint MCP server in Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT and Cursor
Every hosted server here is added the same way: give your client its HTTPS address and sign in. What differs is where the setting lives and which plans may use it. Claude allows one custom connector on Free; ChatGPT documents custom MCP servers for Business, Enterprise and Edu.
| Client | Who can add a remote server | Steps, in the client's own words | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Claude (web, Desktop) | Free, Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise; "Free users are limited to one custom connector" | Customize > Connectors, "+ Add", "Add custom connector", enter a name and the URL, "Continue", choose authentication, "Add". On Team and Enterprise an owner adds it in Organization settings > Connectors. | Claude Help [1] |
| Claude Code | No plan rule on the page | In the terminal: claude mcp add --transport http <name> <url>. Then run /mcp in Claude Code and "follow the steps in your browser to log in". | Claude Code docs [19] |
| ChatGPT | Custom MCP: Business, Enterprise and Edu on the web; Pro with read/fetch permissions; Free and Plus are not mentioned | Go to Plugins, "Select the plus button, then select Add custom MCP server", enter the HTTPS endpoint, configure authentication, accept the risk warning, then "Create as a plugin". On Business, only admins and owners create these plugins. | OpenAI Help [18] |
| Cursor | No plan rule on the page | "Install and manage MCP servers from the Customize page or configure them in mcp.json": ~/.cursor/mcp.json, or .cursor/mcp.json in a project, with the server's "url" under "mcpServers". OAuth uses dynamic client registration or static client credentials. | Cursor docs [19] |
| Codex | No plan rule on the page | "Configure each MCP server with a [mcp_servers.<server-name>] table" in ~/.codex/config.toml, with url = "<url>". "For a server that supports OAuth, run codex mcp login <server-name>". The CLI, IDE extension and desktop app "share this configuration". | Codex docs [19] |
| VS Code | No plan rule on the page | Run "MCP: Add Server" from the Command Palette, choose HTTP and enter "The publisher's MCP endpoint"; in .vscode/mcp.json the server sits under "servers" with "type": "http" and its "url". "Follow the publisher's sign-in instructions if the service requires authentication." | VS Code docs [19] |

ChatGPT Pro's read/fetch limit matters: creating a deck is a write action, so on Pro a custom server can read decks but not make one. Vendors with a plugin in ChatGPT's directory reach further: OpenAI says "The plugin directory is available across ChatGPT plans", and that installing one depends on plan, workspace, role and region. NOXI was approved and published in that directory on 26 October 2026, with the same server behind it (NOXI's ChatGPT plugin announcement).
Claude for PowerPoint or an MCP server?
Claude for PowerPoint is an add-in inside the open PowerPoint file, on Claude's paid plans; an MCP server is a tool your assistant calls from the chat or terminal to return a deck. Use the add-in to edit the deck in front of you, a server to produce decks from your repo or notes. Our ChatGPT vs Claude for PowerPoint comparison covers both assistants' own slide features.
NOXI, Gamma and Presentations.AI: whole decks from one request
All three document a hosted OAuth server whose create tool returns a whole deck from a prompt or your content; they separate on the file returned, clients with steps and content editing.
1. NOXI 96 / 100
Hosted (5). One address, mcp.noxi.ai/mcp, for every assistant; the connect page says "You sign in with OAuth on auth.noxi.ai", so there is no API key to paste (noxi.ai/connect). Clients (5). Setup tabs for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code and Codex: a custom connector in Claude, an "Add to Cursor" button or mcp.json entry, a one-line claude mcp add command, a NOXI plugin in Codex, and the plugin in ChatGPT's directory. Whole deck (5, v). "Create a designed presentation from a topic, a brief or an outline", optionally with fresh web research; you can paste a README or a design doc as the brief. Editable PowerPoint (5). NOXI's own export engine writes real, editable text boxes and embeds the fonts, Arabic included, with no watermark; "the PDF, PowerPoint and HTML files arrive in the chat automatically". Edit and export (5). "Change slides by describing what you want in plain words", and "Export any presentation as PDF, PowerPoint or HTML". Free use (4, v). The connect page states no price; NOXI itself is free, 1,000 credits a month with a full deck using about 25 (the 100 line).
Where others lead: ppt-mcp edits a running PowerPoint inside any template you open, and Gamma states MCP on every plan on its own pages. NOXI is our pick when one request should return a designed deck you can hand over as an editable PowerPoint. NOXI adds images where a slide needs one.
2. Gamma 88 / 100
Hosted (5). The server at mcp.gamma.app/mcp uses "OAuth 2.0 with PKCE", with dynamic client registration for custom clients (Gamma MCP server). Clients (5). Built-in connectors for ChatGPT, Claude, Slack, Superhuman Go and Atlassian Rovo "work on all Gamma plans" (Gamma connectors). Whole deck (5). The generate tool takes "a brief prompt, outline, or full draft" (tools reference). Editable PowerPoint (3). Gamma's export help has a section on "Export Limitations and Visual Differences" (Gamma Help, export). Edit and export (5). Edit an existing gamma, and export it to PDF, PPTX or PNG. Free use (4). MCP "works on every plan", and a new Free user receives 400 credits that "do not refresh" (Gamma Help, credits). Gamma Plus is $9 a seat a month, or $108 a seat billed annually; Pro is $18, or $216 a year (Gamma pricing, checked 27 October 2026).
3. Presentations.AI 85 / 100
Hosted (5). OAuth 2.1 sign-in (Presentations.AI agent docs). Clients (3). Steps for Claude Code and for Claude.ai or Claude Desktop. Whole deck (5). The create tool takes a prompt, text sources or an edited outline. Editable PowerPoint (4). The API page lists "PPTX (Microsoft PowerPoint, fully editable)" and does not state an unbadged free export (Presentations.AI API). Edit and export (4). An export tool returns a download link; the deck patch tool only renames, moves or changes visibility, which is not content editing. Free use (4, v). The page lists "200 credits one-time" and, elsewhere, "Free tier included" (the 89 line).
Canva, Figma, Beautiful.ai and Pitch: servers for design tools you already use
These four suit teams whose decks already live in the vendor's editor. Canva and Figma lead on clients and free access; Beautiful.ai and Pitch document Claude and ChatGPT and keep PowerPoint export on paid plans.
4. Canva 84 / 100
Hosted (5). "The Canva MCP server authenticates your AI application with OAuth" (Canva developers). Clients (5). Setup guides for ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot (Canva Help, MCP setup). Whole deck (3, v). The generate tool creates "new visuals with AI from your prompt"; Canva's examples are posters and posts, not a multi-slide deck (88 if it counts). Editable PowerPoint (3). Canva's download help says PPTX files may look different when opened in PowerPoint. Edit and export (5). Editing transactions on an existing design, and an export-design tool on all plans (Canva MCP tools). Free use (5, v). The server is "available for all Canva accounts, including Canva Free"; AI actions may use the monthly Canva AI allowance.
7. Figma 77 / 100
Hosted (5, v). Figma's hosted endpoint at mcp.figma.com/mcp; its client steps say "Allow access" without naming OAuth (74 if read as anchor 4) (Figma Help, MCP server). Clients (5). A client table with Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor, VS Code and many more. Whole deck (3). The server can write directly to the canvas in Figma Design, FigJam and Figma Slides, step by step. Editable PowerPoint (3). Figma Slides' PowerPoint export help lists limitations, and missing fonts fall back to the default PowerPoint font (Figma Help, PPTX export). Edit and export (4). Edits through write to canvas; no MCP export tool. Free use (4, v). Write to canvas "is free during the beta period" and will become a usage-based paid feature; Starter View and Collab seats get 20 read tool calls a month (Figma MCP FAQs).
9. Beautiful.ai 73 / 100
Hosted (5). "Beautiful.ai MCP uses OAuth 2.0 for authentication" (Beautiful.ai Help, MCP, updated 13 May 2026). Clients (3). Steps for Claude Desktop and Claude-compatible clients, and for ChatGPT. Whole deck (5). A new deck from a prompt, notes or a transcript. Editable PowerPoint (3). Editable PowerPoint export is on paid plans, and without the fonts it looks slightly different (Beautiful.ai Help, export). Edit and export (4). Exports to PDF or PPTX; the help says it does not provide full slide-by-slide editing. Free use (2). A 14-day free trial (pricing).
10. Pitch 73 / 100
Hosted (5). "Authorisation is OAuth", on a remote server hosted by Pitch (Pitch Help, MCP). Clients (3). Guides to connect Pitch to Claude and to ChatGPT. Whole deck (4). "Give the agent a template and a prompt and it writes the slide content". Editable PowerPoint (3). PowerPoint export is premium, and charts and fonts may differ (Pitch Help, export, 28 July 2026). Edit and export (4). The Pitch agent edits a presentation; no MCP export tool is documented. Free use (3). Free has 100 lifetime, non-recurring credits, and PowerPoint export is premium (Pitch Help, credits, 11 August 2026).
Plus AI and MagicSlides: whole decks on paid plans
Both make whole decks from one call and have edit tools; both lose points on free use: Plus AI's MCP needs a paid plan, and MagicSlides' pricing page lists MCP only in paid plans.
6. Plus AI 78 / 100
Hosted (5). The server at mcp.plusai.com signs in with your Plus AI account through OAuth (Plus AI MCP). Clients (2, v). Steps for Claude Code and a JSON config for any MCP client; ChatGPT and Claude are named as supported without steps (84 if named clients count). Whole deck (5). Its agent tool plans, writes and designs a deck from a prompt or from a deck you already have. Editable PowerPoint (4). Native PowerPoint, plus PDF, on a paid plan. Edit and export (5). Follow-up edits apply to the same deck. Free use (2). MCP "Requires a Pro, Team, or Max plan"; the 7-day trial requires a card. Pro is $20 a month billed annually or $25 monthly (Plus AI pricing).
8. MagicSlides 76 / 100
Hosted (5). Streamable HTTP with OAuth 2.1 (MagicSlides llms.txt). Clients (5, v). One-click setup that opens pre-filled in Claude, Cursor and VS Code, plus walkthroughs for Claude Desktop, ChatGPT and Claude Code (MagicSlides MCP). Whole deck (5). Your assistant writes the content and MagicSlides fills the chosen template. Editable PowerPoint (3, v). PPTX and PDF downloads; editability of the PPTX is not stated. Edit and export (5). An update tool and downloads. Free use (1, v). The pricing page lists only paid plans, from $6.67 a month billed annually ($80 a year), with MCP among the plan features; the MCP page says all tools are free during early access, which is the 88 line (MagicSlides pricing).
Community PowerPoint MCP servers on GitHub: ppt-mcp, and the archived GongRzhe server
The strongest community PowerPoint MCP server on our rules is ykuwai/ppt-mcp, which scores 83 and controls a live PowerPoint; the GongRzhe Office-PowerPoint-MCP-Server was archived on 3 March 2026, so new setups should not depend on it.
5. PowerPoint MCP (ykuwai/ppt-mcp) 83 / 100
Hosted (2). A community project you run locally (ykuwai/ppt-mcp on GitHub, MIT licence). Clients (5). Setup sections for Claude Code, Cursor, Claude Desktop, Codex and VS Code. Whole deck (3). 156 tools across 26 categories: the agent builds the deck step by step. Editable PowerPoint (5). It drives a running PowerPoint through COM on Windows and Apple Events on macOS, so the file is native. Edit and export (5). Edits the open deck and exports PDF, images and slide previews. Free use (5, v). Free to run locally; it needs Microsoft PowerPoint installed (79 if that disqualifies "free").
It needs Windows 11 or macOS, Microsoft PowerPoint and the uv runtime; Claude Code adds it with one command, Cursor with one click. Because it works on whatever deck is open, it suits a locked corporate template whose slide master must survive untouched. If fonts matter when you hand the file over, our guide to embedding fonts in PowerPoint covers what to check before sending.
The GongRzhe server writes .pptx files with python-pptx and needs no Office installation. GitHub shows "This repository was archived by the owner on Mar 3, 2026" (GongRzhe on GitHub, checked 27 October 2026). It would score 77, but an archived server gets no fixes, so it stays out of the ten.
Is there a Google Slides MCP server? Google's preview and the Zapier route
Yes: Google documents a Slides MCP server, but it is a Developer Preview with read and update tools only, so it edits existing presentations rather than making new decks. Zapier's MCP offers a Google Slides route that copies a template and fills its placeholders.
Google's server uses OAuth 2.0; its tools read a presentation, a slide or its thumbnail, and update_presentation sends batch updates to a native Google Slides file (Google Slides MCP reference). The setup guide, last updated 12 October 2026, requires membership in the Google Workspace Developer Preview Program and gives steps for Antigravity and Claude (configure the Slides MCP server). It would score 65: 5 on the native file, 2 on whole decks, 1 on free terms, which the guide does not state.
Zapier's Google Slides actions create a new presentation based on an existing one and replace placeholder variables, and Zapier's free plan includes 100 tasks a month (Zapier pricing), and "One MCP tool call uses 2 tasks" (Zapier MCP, Google Slides). Useful for a weekly report template, not for writing a deck: 76, outside the ten.
Privacy and permissions: what a PowerPoint MCP server can read
A server can do what its tools and your sign-in allow: a hosted server works inside the account you connected, and a local server works with your own user's rights on your machine.
- Read the consent screen.NOXI's lists reading your presentations and templates, and creating, editing and exporting presentations; its connect page says NOXI only works with presentations in the account you connected, and a connection stays active for up to a year while you use it at least once a month.
- Prefer OAuth to keys.Eight of the ten document OAuth sign-in, so no secret sits in your config file. Two servers below the ten use API keys; keep such keys out of shared or committed config files.
- Check approval prompts.OpenAI's help says ChatGPT may ask for approval before reading information or completing an action; keep approvals on for write tools.
- Know where files go.Hosted servers store decks in the vendor's cloud under its privacy policy; NOXI's says your presentations, prompts and files are not used to train AI models.
- Scope local servers.A server that drives PowerPoint can touch any open deck; close files an agent shouldn't change.
What these rules don't measure
The rules score documentation, not how good the decks look or how fast they arrive, and competitors lead on several things they leave out.
- Design quality and speed: not scored for anyone. Gamma and Canva bring large design ranges; Beautiful.ai its smart layouts.
- Low-level control: ppt-mcp's 156 tools let an agent change any shape in a live PowerPoint; no hosted server offers that granularity.
- Free access on the server page: Gamma documents its MCP on every plan including Free, and Canva on every Canva account.
- Rate limits: Figma's Starter read limits and vendors' credit costs per call are not scored; check them if you automate many decks.
- Enterprise admin: workspace controls, OAuth scope review and audit logs vary by vendor and client and are not scored.
- Inside the app: Plus AI works inside PowerPoint and Google Slides; Figma Slides adds design mode and live interactions.
For agents that make slides on their own, such as Genspark, Kimi and Manus, which act as MCP clients, see our ranking of AI agents for slides.
Worked example: one developer, twelve decks a month
| Option | How it fits her month | Arithmetic | Cost a year |
|---|---|---|---|
| NOXI connector | Pastes the README as the brief; editable .pptx, PDF and HTML arrive in the chat | 12 decks × 25 credits = 300 of 1,000 monthly credits | $0 |
| Plus AI Pro | Whole native PowerPoint decks; MCP needs Pro, Team or Max | 12 × $20, billed annually | $240 |
| Gamma Plus | MCP on Free, but 400 Free credits don't refresh; Plus for steady use | 12 × $9, billed annually | $108 |
| ppt-mcp | Free software; drives the customer's template slide by slide | Microsoft 365 already paid by her company | $0 extra |
Without her company's licence, ppt-mcp would need PowerPoint: Microsoft 365 Personal is $99.99 a year (Microsoft 365 plans). Plus AI billed monthly: 12 × $25 = $300.
| Job | Her choice | Why, on the rules |
|---|---|---|
| Talks and demos from a README | NOXI connector | Whole deck from content (M3 5), editable .pptx (M4 5), free product-wide |
| The customer's locked template | ppt-mcp in Claude Code | Edits the native file inside the slide master (M4 5) |
| Last-minute change to one slide | NOXI edit by chat | "Turn slide 4 into a timeline" in the same chat (M5 5) |
Sofia's decision: NOXI for the twelve monthly decks ($0 a year, 700 credits a month left over) and ppt-mcp for the quarterly template deck. Against Plus AI Pro billed annually she saves $240 a year. She reviews the setup on 1 March 2027, when Figma's write-to-canvas pricing and MagicSlides' early-access terms may have changed.
Here are three slides from the deck NOXI built for this article's worked example, unedited.

Build it: make a NOXI deck from Claude with the connector
To make a NOXI deck from Claude, add NOXI as a custom connector with the address on noxi.ai/connect, sign in, then ask Claude for the deck and name NOXI. The files arrive in the chat; the deck opens in NOXI to edit, present or export.
Create a [12]-slide NOXI presentation for [a 20-minute conference talk] from this README: [paste the README]. One finding per slide title, a slide on setup in three steps, a slide on limits, and a closing slide with the repository link.
Research [how teams use MCP servers in 2026] and turn it into a [10]-slide NOXI deck for [our engineering leads], with the source and year of every figure on its slide.
In my latest NOXI deck, turn slide [4] into a timeline, rewrite every title as a full sentence, and export it as PowerPoint.
Step 1 — Copy the connector address
Open noxi.ai/connect and copy the server address, https://mcp.noxi.ai/mcp. You sign in to NOXI in your browser, so there is no API key to copy.
Step 2 — Add a custom connector in Claude
In Claude, open Customize > Connectors, click "+ Add", then "Add custom connector". On Claude's Free plan this uses your one custom connector.
Step 3 — Name it NOXI and paste the address
Enter NOXI as the connector name, paste the remote MCP server URL and click "Continue". Review the authentication settings Claude detected and click "Continue".
Step 4 — Sign in to NOXI and approve access
Under Authentication, choose "Sign in now", keep the OAuth client "Use Claude's published identity (Recommended)" and click "Add". Sign in to NOXI in the window that opens and approve access.
Step 5 — Ask for the deck and name NOXI
In a chat with the NOXI connector turned on, paste Prompt 1 or Prompt 2 and name NOXI in the request.
Step 6 — Open it in NOXI to edit, present or export
The PDF, PowerPoint and HTML files arrive in the chat. Open the deck in NOXI to change slides by chat, present full-screen, or download an editable PowerPoint (.pptx) with real text boxes and embedded fonts.
In Claude Code, the generic command from Claude Code's docs is claude mcp add --transport http <name> <url>, with the address from noxi.ai/connect as the URL; then run /mcp and follow the steps in your browser to log in. For Cursor, Codex and VS Code, use the client rows in the setup table above. Our guide to Claude connectors and MCP explains custom connectors from the start.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the best MCP server for PowerPoint?
- On six documented rules checked on 27 October 2026, NOXI scores highest with 96 of 100, followed by Gamma at 88, Presentations.AI at 85 and Canva at 84. The rules count hosting, documented clients, whole decks from one request, an editable PowerPoint, edit and export tools, and free use, not design quality or speed.
- Is there an official Microsoft PowerPoint MCP server?
- Microsoft's Agent 365 page on MCP server options, updated 8 October 2026, names Microsoft-hosted servers for Copilot, Mail, Calendar, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, User and Word, but no PowerPoint server. PowerPoint MCP servers on GitHub are community projects or presentation vendors' own servers that return a PowerPoint file.
- How do I add an MCP server to Claude?
- In Claude, open Customize > Connectors, click "+ Add", then "Add custom connector". Enter a name and the remote MCP server URL, click "Continue", choose how you sign in and click "Add". Free users are limited to one custom connector; on Team and Enterprise an owner adds it in Organization settings.
- Can I add an MCP server to ChatGPT Plus?
- Not a custom one, according to OpenAI's help: custom MCP servers are documented for ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu on the web, and Pro can connect them with read/fetch permissions only. On other plans, use a vendor's plugin from ChatGPT's plugin directory, where availability depends on plan, workspace, role and region.
- Is there a free PowerPoint MCP server?
- Yes. The community ppt-mcp server is free under the MIT licence but needs Microsoft PowerPoint installed. Canva's server works on Canva Free, Gamma's on every Gamma plan with 400 one-time Free credits, and NOXI's connector reaches a free NOXI account with 1,000 credits a month.
- Which MCP server makes a whole deck from one prompt?
- NOXI, Gamma, Presentations.AI, Plus AI, MagicSlides and Beautiful.ai document a tool that creates a whole multi-slide deck from a prompt and from content you pass, such as an outline, notes or a draft. Pitch fills a template from a prompt; ppt-mcp and Figma build slides step by step.
- Do I need PowerPoint installed to use a PowerPoint MCP server?
- Only for servers that drive the PowerPoint app. ppt-mcp controls a running Microsoft PowerPoint on Windows 11 or macOS, so PowerPoint must be installed. Hosted servers such as NOXI, Gamma and Plus AI return a .pptx file you open later, and python-pptx servers write files without Office.
- Is there a Google Slides MCP server?
- Yes, as a Developer Preview. Google's Slides MCP server uses OAuth 2.0 and offers tools to read a presentation, read a slide or its thumbnail, and update a presentation through batch updates. It has no tool to create a deck, and the setup guide requires the Workspace Developer Preview Program.
- Does Canva have an MCP server?
- Yes. Canva's MCP server authenticates with OAuth, has setup guides for ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot, and is available for all Canva accounts, including Canva Free. It can edit and export designs; Canva's examples of its generate tool are single visuals, so it scores 3 of 5 for whole decks.
- How do I connect NOXI to Claude?
- In Claude, open Customize > Connectors, click "+ Add", then "Add custom connector". Name it NOXI, paste https://mcp.noxi.ai/mcp from noxi.ai/connect, click "Continue", choose "Sign in now" and click "Add". Sign in to NOXI, approve access, then ask for a deck through the connector and name NOXI in the request.

Check who hosts a server, whether one call makes a whole deck and which file it returns, then build the deck: NOXI's connector reaches a free NOXI account and returns an editable PowerPoint.
