Disclosure: NOXI publishes this page and is one of the eleven tools scored. That's why the rules, the weights and the source of every cell are printed, along with the four readings in which another tool leads.
Best AI document generator, scored on seven printed rules on 4 November 2026: NOXI and Google Gemini both score 90 of 100, and NOXI is listed first on the tie-break, its own Word export. Claude is third on 88, Copilot in Word 80, ChatGPT 78. Four printed sensitivity readings give three other leaders and never NOXI.
NOXI and Google Gemini both score 90; NOXI is listed first on the tie-break. That is the whole result at the top, and it is thin. The first rule of our printed tie-break chain, D1, asks for a Word file the tool makes itself: NOXI exports .docx from its own engine, while Gemini reaches .docx only through Google Docs, so D1 reads 20 against 10. Read it any of the four other printed ways and the leader changes: Google Gemini leads two (equal weights, and without D1), Copilot in Word leads one (without the free-plan rule) and Claude leads one (without sources in the file). NOXI leads none.
NOXI takes full marks on six of the seven rules: its own Word export, designed pages, sources on the page, editing one part by asking, a free plan that makes documents, and right-to-left pages. Its zero is D2, works inside Word or Google Docs, and that is a plain fact about the product: NOXI works in its own editor and exports to Word. Competitor cells rest on each vendor's pages, opened on 4 November 2026; NOXI's rest on our own product record, so every rule and source is printed.
The searches behind this page are blunter: can ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude create a Word document? All three can, by three different routes, and each answer is below in the vendor's own words.
Best AI document generator: the eleven at a glance
On seven documented rules checked on 4 November 2026, NOXI and Google Gemini score 90 of 100, Claude 88 and Copilot in Word 80, and 37 points separate the top of the table from Notion AI at 53.
| # | Tool | Score of 100 | Why it scores there | Source, opened 4 November 2026 (UTC) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | NOXI | 90 | Own Word export, sources on the page, right to left, five free documents a month | NOXI 2.0 product record and launch article, 11:29 |
| 2 | Google Gemini | 90 | Full on six rules; .docx only through Google Docs | blog.google, 29 Oct post; Gemini and Docs help, 11:31 |
| 3 | Claude | 88 | .docx on Free; citations stay in the chat | support.claude.com; claude.com Word add-in, 11:31 |
| 4 | Copilot in Word | 80 | Drafts, cites and edits inside Word; paid only | support.microsoft.com Word pages, 11:36 |
| 5 | ChatGPT | 78 | ChatGPT for Word on Free, "Limited"; sources on request | help.openai.com; chatgpt.com/pricing (AED), 11:38 |
| 6 | Perplexity | 75 | .docx with citations inside; one-time free turns | perplexity.ai help centre, 11:33 |
| 7 | Canva Docs | 70 | DOCX download, free; no sources documented | canva.com/docs and help, 11:40 |
| 8 | Manus | 70 | Word export with citations; chat edits | manus.im playbook and docs, 11:33 |
| 9 | Genspark | 70 | Word download and add-in; no sources documented | genspark.ai help centre, 11:42 |
| 10 | Gamma | 60 | Citations and right to left; no Word export | help.gamma.app, 11:33; gamma.app/pricing, 11:45 |
| 11 | Notion AI | 53 | Right-to-left blocks; PDF, CSV or HTML only | notion.com help, 11:33 |
How the ties were broken. The printed chain is D1, then D6, then D4, then D3, then table order. NOXI and Google Gemini both score 90; NOXI is listed first on our first tie-break rule, a Word file the tool makes itself, 20 against 10. Canva Docs, Manus and Genspark all score 70 and level on D1, so D6 orders them: Canva Docs takes 20, because Canva Docs "is and will forever be free to access and use", against 10 and 10. D4 then puts Manus above Genspark, 15 against 0, because Manus documents citations and the Genspark pages we opened do not.

Who should pick what
Six needs, six tools, and five of them are not ours.
- If you need a .docx on a free plan then Claude, because Anthropic's help centre says "Claude can create Excel spreadsheets (.xlsx), PowerPoint presentations (.pptx), Word documents (.docx)" and that file creation is "available to all Claude users" [3].
- If you already pay for Microsoft 365 then Copilot in Word, because it drafts inside the document and Microsoft's page says "Ask Copilot to generate content with citations to referenced sources." [4].
- If you live in Google Drive then Google Gemini, because its file tools are "available to all users", Export to Docs turns the result into a Google Doc that downloads as .docx, and on an eligible Google AI plan Deep Research in Google Docs writes a report with "findings, citations, and an organized summary" [2].
- If the draft must start inside Word at no cost then ChatGPT, because OpenAI's help centre says "ChatGPT for Word is available on all ChatGPT plans, including Free", where the pricing table marks the Word extension "Limited" [5].
- If the citations must sit inside the .docx itself then Perplexity, because its help centre says "Every document automatically includes Perplexity-grade citations and research" and lists Word documents (.docx) among its outputs, with free turns as a one-time allowance [6].
- If you need designed pages with sources on the page, Arabic right to left, and a Word file then NOXI, because its own export writes Word with links that stay clickable, and its pages run right to left with mirrored layouts [1].
In short
- The resultNOXI and Google Gemini both score 90 of 100. NOXI is listed first on the D1 tie-break, a Word file the tool makes itself.
- How thin it isFour printed readings, three different leaders: Gemini twice, Copilot in Word once, Claude once, NOXI never.
- The Word fileEight tools hand over a .docx themselves; Gemini goes through Google Docs.
- MethodDocumented capability from official pages opened on 4 November 2026. Not a new hands-on test.
Key numbers
How we scored: seven rules, 100 points, printed in full
Seven rules worth 100 points, applied in the same words to all eleven rows, with half marks fixed in advance.
| Code | Rule (points) | What each level needs, identical for every tool |
|---|---|---|
| D1 | A Word file you can download (20) | 20 = the tool's own output downloads as .docx from the tool, generated directly or by the tool's own export of the document it made · 10 = .docx only after moving the output into another product, for example Gemini to Google Docs · 0 = no .docx route documented |
| D2 | Works inside Word or Google Docs (10) | 10 = an assistant built into Microsoft Word or Google Docs, or a documented Word or Docs add-in · 0 = not documented |
| D3 | Designed pages (15) | 15 = images or charts placed in the generated document, documented · 8 = headings, lists and tables only · 0 = plain text |
| D4 | Sources inside the document (15) | 15 = citations or source links documented inside the generated document · 8 = sources in the chat answer, not in the file · 0 = not documented |
| D5 | Edit one part by asking (10) | 10 = documented in-place AI edit of a selected passage · 5 = a rewrite by chat that regenerates · 0 = not documented |
| D6 | Free plan makes a document (20) | 20 = the free plan is documented to create a document in a named format · 10 = free creation without a named format, or a relative or one-time quota · 0 = paid only |
| D7 | Right to left (10) | 10 = Arabic or right-to-left document output documented · 5 = several languages documented · 0 = not documented |
The half-mark rule: a middle level is half the rule's weight, except D3 and D4, which use 8 of 15. The tie-break chain: D1, then D6, then D4, then D3, then table order. Every cell that is neither full nor zero says why, in the cell, in the full table below.
Why PDF is a column and not a rule. Every row makes a PDF, Genspark on its paid plans, so a PDF rule would separate nobody. D2 asks instead whether the tool works inside the editor people already use, because "best AI for Word documents" and "Copilot in Word" both fill all ten of Google's autosuggest slots this month. That rule replaced an earlier draft, and it moved NOXI down.
The readings that settle the close cells
Four clauses decide every borderline cell, applied to NOXI exactly as to the other ten.
- D1 follows the tool's own output. A .docx the tool generates, or exports from a document it made, is 20. Export to Docs and then a download from Google Docs is the rule's own example of 10.
- D2 wants the assistant in the editor. Saving a file to Google Drive is an export, not working inside Docs.
- D6 reads its middle level as printed. A free plan capped by a relative label such as "Limited", or by credits that never refresh, is 10 even when a format is named. A stated monthly number, such as NOXI's five documents a month, is neither.
- D7 wants the output, not the menu. Arabic in an interface list, with nothing tying it to the generated file, is the several-languages level.
The best AI to create documents, scored on seven rules
Nine of the eleven rows score 70 or more, and every one of the eleven scores 15 on designed pages, so that rule separates nobody this month.
| # | Tool | D1 Word file (20) | D2 Inside Word or Docs (10) | D3 Designed pages (15) | D4 Sources in the file (15) | D5 Edit one part (10) | D6 Free plan (20) | D7 Right to left (10) | PDF (unscored) | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | NOXI | 20 | 0 | 15 | 15 | 10 | 20 | 10 | Yes | 90 |
| 2 | Google Gemini | 10 · .docx only through Google Docs | 10 | 15 | 15 | 10 | 20 | 10 | Yes | 90 |
| 3 | Claude | 20 | 10 | 15 | 8 · citations in the chat answer | 10 | 20 | 5 · several languages, no Arabic named | Yes | 88 |
| 4 | Copilot in Word | 20 | 10 | 15 | 15 | 10 | 0 | 10 | Yes | 80 |
| 5 | ChatGPT | 20 | 10 | 15 | 8 · source on request, not in the file | 10 | 10 · Free is "Limited" | 5 · Arabic in the interface list only | Yes | 78 |
| 6 | Perplexity | 20 | 0 | 15 | 15 | 10 | 10 · one-time free turns | 5 · several languages | Yes | 75 |
| 7 | Canva Docs | 20 | 0 | 15 | 0 | 10 | 20 | 5 · Arabic named for designs, not Docs | Yes | 70 |
| 8 | Manus | 20 | 0 | 15 | 15 | 5 · chat rewrite, no select-and-edit | 10 · daily credits, no format named | 5 · "All major languages" | Yes | 70 |
| 9 | Genspark | 20 | 10 | 15 | 0 | 10 | 10 · lifetime free allowance | 5 · several languages | Paid plans | 70 |
| 10 | Gamma | 0 | 0 | 15 | 15 | 10 | 10 · 400 credits that do not refresh | 10 | Yes | 60 |
| 11 | Notion AI | 0 | 0 | 15 | 8 · sources in the answer | 10 | 10 · limited free AI responses | 10 | Yes | 53 |
Each total is the plain sum of its cells: NOXI 20 + 0 + 15 + 15 + 10 + 20 + 10 = 90, Gemini 10 + 10 + 15 + 15 + 10 + 20 + 10 = 90.
The gaps between the rows you will compare
None of the gaps at the top is a single rule.
- NOXI minus Google Gemini = 0: D1 plus 10 for NOXI (its own Word export against Gemini's route through Google Docs), D2 plus 10 for Gemini (Gemini in Docs). Every other rule is level.
- NOXI minus Claude = 2: D4 plus 7 and D7 plus 5, against D2 minus 10 (Claude for Word, an add-in on Pro and above).
- Google Gemini minus Claude = 2: D4 plus 7 and D7 plus 5, against D1 minus 10 (Claude makes the .docx itself).
- Claude minus Copilot in Word = 8: D6 plus 20, against D4 minus 7 and D7 minus 5. Copilot in Word's whole distance from the top is the free-plan rule.
- Copilot in Word minus ChatGPT = 2: D4 plus 7 and D7 plus 5, against D6 minus 10, because ChatGPT for Word is on Free with a "Limited" quota.
Four sensitivity readings, and NOXI leads none of them
Gemini leads two of the four printed readings, Copilot in Word one and Claude one: a tie settled by one rule is not a lead.
- Equal weights (each rule as a fraction of its maximum): Google Gemini 0.929, Claude 0.862, NOXI 0.857, Copilot in Word 0.857. Gemini's one middle mark is half a rule; NOXI's zero on D2 is a whole rule.
- Without D1: Google Gemini 80, NOXI 70, Claude 68, Copilot in Word 60. The rule that sets the order at the top is the one removed.
- Without D6: Copilot in Word 80, NOXI 70, Google Gemini 70, Claude 68. The reading for an organisation that already pays for Microsoft 365.
- Without D4: Claude 80, NOXI 75, Google Gemini 75, ChatGPT 70. The reading for anyone who does not need citations in the document.

The single cells that would change the leader
- If any one NOXI cell fell, Gemini would be first alone. The most exposed is D5: it is 10 because our product record says NOXI edits by chat and "changes only what you asked", and that to change one page you select it and say what should change. Read strictly, as needing a step that selects the text itself, it would be 5, NOXI 85.
- Gemini D1 from 10 to 20 (Google names a .docx download): Gemini 100, ahead outright.
- Claude D4 from 8 to 15: Claude 95. Claude D7 from 5 to 10: Claude 93.
- Copilot in Word D6 from 0 to 20: 100. At 10 it would tie on 90, and the chain would still list NOXI ahead on the tie-break, then Copilot in Word, then Gemini.
- Gemini D4 back to 8 (if Deep Research in Google Docs were counted outside the Gemini row): Gemini 83, below Claude 88, and the tie at the top would be gone. That was the reading before we opened Google's Docs help.
- No single ChatGPT cell changes the order at the top: its largest single move, D6 to 20, gives 88.
The best AI for Word documents: a real .docx, or a detour
Eight of the eleven hand you a .docx from the tool itself, one routes it through Google Docs, and two document no Word file at all. That split carries 20 points.
Created directly. Claude names "Word documents (.docx)" among the files it creates. Perplexity lists "Documents: PDF reports and Word documents (.docx)" among its artifacts. Genspark's AI Docs help offers "Download Word Document". Manus's report-generator page names "PDF, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint", a product page rather than a help article. OpenAI's ChatGPT Work article says it "can create or edit documents, spreadsheets, presentations, reports".
Exported from the tool's own document. Canva's download help says "DOCX (Microsoft Word): For Canva Docs only." NOXI exports Word with its own engine, and each file is rendered and compared with the pages before the download appears. The Word file has editable pages, charts you can still edit in Word and source links that stay clickable.
Written inside Word. Copilot in Word works in the file you have open: "Start a draft: Ask Copilot to create a first draft from a simple request". The output is a Word document from the start, which is full marks on D1.
The detour. Google's post of 29 October 2026 lists PDF, plus "Google Docs, Google Sheets, slide decks, Markdown files, TXT files, and code". No Word file is named. Export to Docs "saves a new doc in Google Drive", and Google Docs' download help lists "Documents: .docx". Two products, one extra step, the middle level.
None documented. Gamma's export article lists "PDF", "PNG", "PowerPoint (PPTX)" and Google Slides. Notion's export help names "PDF, CSV, or HTML". Both score zero on D1, and both are strong on other rules.

Working inside Word or Google Docs: five rows, and the plans they need
Five of the eleven document an assistant inside Word or Google Docs, and four of the five name the plan it needs.
- Copilot in Word is built into Word and needs "an eligible Microsoft 365 subscription and/or Microsoft 365 Copilot license".
- ChatGPT for Word "opens ChatGPT in a sidebar inside Microsoft Word", on every plan, with the Free column reading "Limited".
- Claude for Word "is generally available to Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans."
- Gemini in Docs "requires an eligible Google Workspace or Google AI plan"; Google AI Pro was listed at "$19.99/ month", in US dollars, with "Gemini in Gmail, Docs, Vids, and more".
- Genspark documents "add-ins for Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint".
NOXI's zero on D2 is simply how it works: you write and edit in NOXI, then export Word. If your team will only ever edit inside Word, weigh this rule hardest. Our Claude vs Copilot comparison goes deeper on two assistants that live inside Microsoft's apps.
Can ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude create a Word document? Three answers from their own pages
All three can, by three different routes: Claude creates a .docx directly, ChatGPT works inside Word through a sidebar, and Gemini reaches Word only through Google Docs.
Can ChatGPT create a Word document?
Yes, in two ways, both on OpenAI's help centre. ChatGPT for Word "opens ChatGPT in a sidebar inside Microsoft Word", works when you "select the text in Word and describe what you want changed", and is "available on all ChatGPT plans, including Free". ChatGPT Work, separately, "can create or edit documents, spreadsheets, presentations, reports".
Sources are the softer cell. The Work article tells you to "highlight a claim and ask for its source", a source on request rather than one written into the file, so D4 is 8. Arabic is in the interface language list, with nothing tying it to file output, so D7 is 5. The pricing page served UAE dirhams to our connection: Free AED 0 a month, Go AED 30, Plus AED 80, Pro from AED 385. OpenAI's canvas help article is a 404, so nothing here rests on it.
Can Gemini create documents?
Yes, in the chat, since 29 October 2026. Google's post says "You can now generate, preview, and edit files right within your chat", for all users; PDF works on web and mobile, the other formats on the web only. The post names no Word file, which is why D1 is 10.
Gemini's other six cells are full. Gemini in Docs is an assistant inside the editor, the selected-text edit is documented, Arabic is among the web app's more than 70 languages, and Deep Research in Google Docs produces a report that "includes the findings, citations, and an organized summary of the data found." That sentence moved Gemini level with NOXI, and the same page says "You need an eligible Google AI plan". Our Claude vs Gemini comparison scores the two assistants on rules of their own.
Can Claude create Word documents?
Yes, directly, on the free plan. Anthropic's help says "Claude can create Excel spreadsheets (.xlsx), PowerPoint presentations (.pptx), Word documents (.docx), and PDF files", and file creation "is available to all Claude users (Free, Pro, Max, Ultra, Team, and Enterprise)". Claude Docs is on every plan too. Pricing prints Free at $0 and Pro at $17 a month billed annually or $20 monthly, with a bare dollar sign.
Two cells keep Claude at 88. Citations come with web answers ("Every response includes citations"), and no Anthropic page we opened puts them inside the created file, so D4 is 8. The file article promises "full support for multiple languages" in generated files, while the interface list of eleven languages has no Arabic, so D7 is 5. Research is paid; file creation is the free part. Our ChatGPT vs Claude comparison covers far more than documents.
Sources inside the file, not only in the chat
Six of the eleven document sources inside the generated document, three show them only in the answer, and two document none. It is the cell Claude would need to move.
- NOXI, on the page. When the subject needs current facts, NOXI searches the live web first, and every fact keeps its source on the page, as an inline link, a footnote or a sources list. Links stay clickable in PDF and Word. When a fact cannot be confirmed, NOXI leaves a clear field for you to fill instead of guessing.
- Google Gemini, in a Google Doc. Deep Research in Docs "includes the findings, citations, and an organized summary", on an eligible Google AI plan.
- Copilot in Word, in the draft. "Ask Copilot to generate content with citations to referenced sources."
- Perplexity, in every document. "Every document automatically includes Perplexity-grade citations and research."
- Manus and Gamma, in what they generate. Manus lists "Professional formatting, citations, export to PDF". Gamma can "search the web and pull in citations to support your points".
Claude, ChatGPT and Notion AI sit at 8: Claude's citations come with web answers, ChatGPT's when you highlight a claim and ask, and Notion's enterprise search says "it'll always cite its sources", which describes the answer, not the page. Canva Docs and Genspark sit at 0: no page of theirs that we opened mentions sources. Our deep dive on AI presentations that carry research citations asks the same question of decks.

Editing one paragraph without rewriting the rest
Ten of the eleven document an edit of one part that leaves the rest of the document alone, and only Manus documents a rewrite by chat without a select step.
Gemini: "use the cursor to select the text that you want to edit." Claude for Word: "Select a passage and tell Claude what to change." Copilot in Word: "Edit in place". Perplexity: "Select parts of the artifact and describe each change". Genspark: "Select any text for precise AI editing without regenerating the entire document." Gamma: "The AI edits just that part while keeping the rest of your gamma intact." Notion, ChatGPT for Word and Canva's Magic Write all start from selected text. Manus says "Ask Manus to make changes through conversation", which is the 5.
NOXI's 10 rests on its product record: edit by chat, and NOXI changes only what you asked; to change one page, select it and say what should change, or edit it directly. It is the one NOXI cell that rests on reading a rule, which is why it is printed above as the most exposed.
What the free plans really make
Four of the eleven score full marks on the free-plan rule, six sit at the middle level because a relative label or a one-time allowance caps their free creation, and Copilot in Word is paid only.
Full marks, 20. Claude's free plan creates named files. Canva Docs "is and will forever be free to access and use". Gemini's new file tools are "available to all users", and Google's limits page lists Canvas among the features for users without a Google AI plan. NOXI is free to start: the free plan covers five documents a month, and every change after that, by chat or by hand, is free. New accounts get a welcome gift to use in their first 14 days. Downloads carry no watermark, on the free plan too, and no credit card is needed to start, though creating needs a free account.
The middle level, 10. ChatGPT's Free column reads "Limited" for the Word extension. Perplexity: "Free turns are a one-time allowance." Gamma offers "400 credits at signup", and "AI credits do not refresh in the Free Plan." Genspark gives Free "100 credits per day, up to a lifetime allowance of free credits", with Word and PDF export on Plus and above. Manus offers "300 credits provided daily for quickly answering simple questions." Notion's Free plan gets "a limited number of complimentary AI responses".
Paid only, 0. Copilot in Word needs an eligible Microsoft 365 subscription. Microsoft's compare page, in US dollars, showed Personal at $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year, Family at $12.99 or $129.99, and Premium at $19.99 or $199.99, with Personal listing "Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote desktop apps with Microsoft Copilot".
Prices appear only in the currency each page showed on 4 November 2026, and Perplexity, Manus and Genspark showed no figure we could quote. If the document is a report, our ranking of AI for reports scores eleven tools on rules written for that job.
Documents in Arabic, right to left
Five of the eleven document Arabic or right-to-left output: NOXI, Google Gemini, Copilot in Word, Gamma and Notion AI. Three of the five also hand over a Word file, one of them through Google Docs.
NOXI has a full Arabic interface, right-to-left pages with mirrored layouts, Arabic typefaces such as IBM Plex Sans Arabic, Arabic and English mixed correctly in one sentence, and Arabic styles among its more than ninety design styles. Microsoft says "Microsoft 365 supports right-to-left functionality and features", and its Copilot language list includes Arabic. Gemini's web app lists Arabic among more than 70 languages. Gamma "supports right-to-left (RTL) languages, including Arabic, Farsi, Hebrew, and Urdu". Notion: "You can manually set text direction at the block level."
Six rows sit at 5. Claude promises multiple languages in generated files and names no Arabic; ChatGPT lists Arabic for the interface; Canva AI names Arabic in a post about designs, not Docs; Perplexity, Manus and Genspark document several languages. None ties Arabic to a right-to-left document.
What changed recently
Five vendor pages behind the cells above carry a date in the past week, and two of them, Google's and OpenAI's, changed what the two most searched assistants can make.
| Vendor | What moved | Date on their page | When we read it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gemini can "generate, preview, and edit files right within your chat", for all users; no Word file named | 29 October 2026 (post date) | 4 November 2026, 11:31 UTC | |
| OpenAI | The "ChatGPT for Word" article: "available on all ChatGPT plans, including Free" | About 28 October 2026 ("Updated: 7 days ago") | 4 November 2026, 11:39 UTC |
| Anthropic | File-creation and Claude Docs articles updated; Claude Docs is on every plan, Free included | 30 October 2026 (modified date) | 4 November 2026, 11:31 UTC |
| Microsoft | "Microsoft 365 Copilot is now named Microsoft Copilot", on the Copilot requirements page | 28 October 2026 (page date) | 4 November 2026, 11:36 UTC |
| Genspark | The plans page now gives Free "100 credits per day, up to a lifetime allowance" | 3 November 2026 ("Updated Nov 3, 2026") | 4 November 2026, 11:41 UTC |
Not in the table: OpenAI's ChatGPT Work article showed "Updated: 4 days ago", so we do not date it to a day, and NOXI 2.0 went live on 2 November 2026 but is our own product.
What these rules don't measure
Most of what seven rules leave out is where other tools are strongest.
- Whether the writing is good, and whether the facts are right. Both matter more than any cell here, and neither can be read off a vendor page. Microsoft's advice to review "facts, numbers, citations, names" in a draft applies to every row.
- Review and approval. Claude for Word documents a tracked changes mode "so every edit lands as a revision", and Word itself owns that ground for Copilot.
- Collaboration and comments. Claude Docs "leaves comments explaining its choices"; Google Docs and Notion are built for many editors.
- House style. Matching a brand book, a legal template or a funder's form is outside every rule. Canva Docs sits inside Canva's design editor, where every element can be placed by hand.
- Legal suitability. A generated contract or policy is a draft, and no rule here says otherwise.
Not measured for anyone: offline use, admin and data controls, regional availability, speed and accessibility. Going the other way, from Word to slides, is covered in our guide to turning a Word document into PowerPoint with AI.
What would change this ranking
Three dated, checkable changes would each put a different tool ahead alone.
- 1. Google names a .docx download for Gemini's file tools. Today the 29 October post lists "Google Docs, Google Sheets, slide decks, Markdown files, TXT files, and code" plus PDF. Gemini's D1 would go from 10 to 20 and Gemini would lead alone on 100. Pages: blog.google and support.google.com/gemini/answer/16047321. Re-check 1 December 2026.
- 2. Anthropic documents citations inside the files Claude creates. Claude's D4 would go from 8 to 15 and Claude would lead on 95. Page: support.claude.com/en/articles/12111783. Re-check 1 December 2026.
- 3. Microsoft lets a free Microsoft account draft in Copilot in Word. Microsoft Ignite runs 17 to 20 November 2026. Copilot in Word's D6 would go from 0 to 20 and it would lead on 100. Pages: the Word draft page and the Microsoft 365 compare page. Re-check 21 November 2026.
Worked example: one handbook, one Word file
Example Amina Yusuf, a fictional operations lead at a clinic in Nairobi, needs a twelve-page staff handbook. Her director will edit it in Word, two health regulations must be cited on the page, the clinic's partner site needs an Arabic version next month, and her software budget this quarter is zero. The table turns those four needs into four filters.
Filter one, a Word file (D1 = 20). Eight rows pass: NOXI, Claude, Copilot in Word, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Canva Docs, Manus and Genspark. Gemini, at 10, stays in as a detour through Google Docs.
Filter two, sources on the page (D4 = 15). Four of the eight pass: NOXI, Copilot in Word, Perplexity and Manus. Gemini still passes, through Deep Research in Google Docs.
Filter three, Arabic right to left (D7 = 10). Two of the four pass: NOXI and Copilot in Word. Perplexity and Manus document several languages, which is 5. Gemini passes on its detour.
Filter four, a budget of zero (D6). Copilot in Word is 0, because it needs an eligible Microsoft 365 subscription. Gemini's free plan scores 20, but the citation cell that kept it in sits behind an eligible Google AI plan. NOXI is 20: the handbook and its Arabic version are two documents, and the free plan covers five a month.
So the answer is a sentence, not a ranking. If the director already pays for Microsoft 365, Amina stays inside Word with Copilot in Word. If nobody pays for anything, she builds it in NOXI and exports Word. If she could drop the citations and the Arabic, Claude's free plan would make the .docx in one request.
Build it in NOXI: a sourced handbook in the Document format, exported to Word
Six steps take one request to a Word file with its sources on the page, using the Document format in NOXI 2.0 with research on. NOXI 2.0 makes 14 formats from one request: presentation, document, brochure, social post, poster, one-pager, report, proposal, résumé, infographic, letter, invitation, certificate and menu, or Auto to let NOXI choose. The NOXI 2.0 launch article covers all fourteen.
A [twelve]-page staff handbook for [a community clinic in Nairobi]: leave, shifts, safety, patient privacy and who to call. Include the current [two health regulations for clinic staff] with their sources on the page, and a one-page summary at the start.
In the [shifts] section, rewrite the paragraph on [night handover] as five numbered steps, keep every time and number as it is, and leave every other section unchanged.
Using the attached English handbook, make an Arabic staff handbook for [our partner site], right to left, with the same sections, sources and numbers.
Step 1. Open NOXI and choose Document
Go to noxi.ai, sign in or create a free account (no credit card is needed to start), and pick the Document tile on Home.
Step 2. Describe it in one request
Paste Prompt 1 with your own details: the topic, the reader, what it must contain, and which facts must be current.
Step 3. Press Create and let it research
When the subject needs current facts, NOXI searches the live web first, and every fact keeps its source on the page, as an inline link, a footnote or a sources list. Where a fact cannot be confirmed, NOXI leaves a clear field for you to fill.
Step 4. Watch it plan, write and check
NOXI sketches every page, picks a style for the subject from more than ninety, writes several pages at once, then reads the whole document through and checks the pages for cut-off text.
Step 5. Ask for one change in the chat
Send Prompt 2 in the chat and NOXI changes only what you asked, or edit by hand. Version history restores any earlier state in one click.
Step 6. Export Word
Export Word for editable pages, clickable source links and charts you can still edit in Word, or PDF. Each file is compared with the pages before the download appears.
Prompt 3 starts a second document, with the exported English file attached as its input, and it is the second of five a month on the free plan. If the document is a client proposal, our ranking of AI proposal generators scores eleven tools on rules for that job.
