Canva alternatives for presentations (November 2026): the top 10 scored on export, editing, sources and free plans

Ten Canva alternatives, from PowerPoint with Copilot, Gamma and Google Slides to Adobe Express, Figma Slides and NOXI, scored on seven printed rules from official pages checked on 27 October 2026, with Canva as a reference row, free plans, no-AI options, prices and every cell's source.

Canva alternatives, a NOXI blog cover. Beyond Canva, for real decks: ten Canva alternatives for presentations scored on seven printed rules from official pages

Disclosure: NOXI publishes this page and is one of the tools scored. That's why the rules, weights and the source of every cell are printed, along with where NOXI loses points.

Quick answer: On seven printed rules, the Canva alternatives for presentations that score highest are NOXI (98 of 100), PowerPoint with Copilot and Gamma (83 each). Canva scores 80, above seven of its ten alternatives. Keep Canva for design range and social formats; switch for decks that must open as editable PowerPoint, or for AI that builds whole decks.

Canva sits in the table as a reference row, scored on the same rules, because the useful question is which of your presentation jobs Canva doesn't cover well.

In short

  • Top 10NOXI 98, PowerPoint with Copilot 83, Gamma 83, Presentations.AI 75, Beautiful.ai 73, Google Slides with Gemini 66, Adobe Express 66, Prezi 64, Pitch 61, Figma Slides 58. Canva, the reference row, scores 80.
  • Canva's strengthsCanva scores full marks on imports, right-to-left page mirroring and its free plan, and ties NOXI on four of the seven rules. Only three alternatives total more than Canva.
  • Free and editableNOXI documents a free editable .pptx with no watermark and 1,000 credits a month; Canva Free includes presentations and 20 AI uses a month; Gamma's free export carries a badge.
  • No AIGoogle Slides and PowerPoint for the web are free plain editors; Pitch, Prezi and Figma Slides also work without their AI features.
  • MethodDocumented capability from official pages opened on 27 October 2026, with the rules of our AI presentation tools ranking. Not a new hands-on test.

Canva alternatives for presentations: the top 10 on 7 rules

On seven documented criteria checked on 27 October 2026, NOXI scores 98 of 100, PowerPoint with Copilot and Gamma 83 each, and Presentations.AI 75; Canva, the reference row, totals 80. The rules reward an editable PowerPoint file, editing depth, sources on slides, imports, right-to-left layout, a real free plan and where the tool runs.

#ToolScoreBest when
1NOXI98You want a free editable PowerPoint, AI that edits one slide or the whole deck, source lines on data slides and Arabic right-to-left slides.
2PowerPoint with Copilot83The deck must stay a PowerPoint file and your organisation already pays for Microsoft 365.
3Gamma83You want fast AI drafts of decks, documents and web pages, and a badge on free exports is acceptable.
4Presentations.AI75You start from Word, PDF, Excel or a URL and want a REST API.
5Beautiful.ai73You want slides that re-layout themselves, a locked brand and right-to-left themes, and you'll pay after the trial.
6Google Slides with Gemini66Your team lives in Google Drive on a paid Google plan and English is enough.
7Adobe Express66You want a free AI deck from your documents plus Adobe Stock assets, video and social formats.
8Prezi64You want to present across a zooming open canvas instead of linear slides.
9Pitch61A team builds, presents and tracks decks together inside Pitch.
10Figma Slides58Your designers already work in Figma and want decks with live polls and embedded prototypes.
refCanva (reference)80Design range, Brand Kits, templates, and social and video formats in one editor matter most.

The P1 tie-break (5 against 3) lists Copilot above Gamma at 83 and Google Slides above Adobe Express at 66. Visme scores 57.

Stacked bar chart of weighted points out of 100 for ten Canva alternatives with Canva's 80 as a dashed reference line: NOXI 98, PowerPoint with Copilot 83, Gamma 83, Presentations.AI 75, Beautiful.ai 73, Google Slides with Gemini 66, Adobe Express 66, Prezi 64, Pitch 61, Figma Slides 58. Each bar is split into PPTX export, editing, research, import, languages, free plan and where it runs.
Only three of the ten alternatives cross Canva's 80; the other seven total less than Canva on the same rules.

How we scored: the rules of our AI presentation tools ranking

We re-applied the rules of our AI presentation tools ranking on 27 October 2026: seven criteria, each rated 1 to 5, weighted to a total of 100, with the same anchors for every row, NOXI and Canva included.

Scope rule. "Alternatives" here are editors where you build and design the deck yourself, as in Canva. Chat-first assistants and in-file add-ins are scored on the same rules and listed in one line further down, not ranked.

Method Scored on documented capability from official vendor pages opened on 27 October 2026. Not a new hands-on test. Weighted score = rating ÷ 5 × weight; weights total 100. Where two official pages of one vendor disagree, the vendor's pricing/plan page decides; where an official page is silent, the lower anchor is used and the alternative total is printed as a sensitivity line. Ties are broken on the heaviest criterion, then the next criterion in the table's order. NOXI's cells come from its product documentation. A deck started from an attached file scores NOXI 89, not 98, because web research and source lines are off by default then.
CodeCriterion (weight)The rule, identical for every tool
P1Editable PPTX export (20)5 = an editable .pptx with real text boxes on the free plan with no badge, or the tool edits the native PowerPoint or Google Slides file; 4 = the same on paid plans only, or free with a badge; 3 = the vendor documents visible differences, substituted fonts or elements that become images; 2 = PDF or images only; 1 = no file export documented.
P2Editing depth (20)5 = four AI levels documented: whole deck, one slide, one selected element, your own template or brand kit as the style (plus manual editing); 4 = three; 3 = two; 1 = only regeneration or only manual editing.
P3Research with sources (15)5 = web research and the source on the slide; 4 = cited research, placement not stated; 3 = research or citations in the chat only; 2 = grounds on uploads, no sources shown; 1 = none documented.
P4Import (15)5 = PDF, Word, Excel or CSV, PowerPoint and images, with a stated size limit; 4 = four of five, or all five with no limit; 3 = two or three types; 2 = one type; 1 = text prompt only.
P5Languages incl. RTL (10)5 = right-to-left layout documented; 4 = a language list naming Arabic; 3 = "many languages" without a list; 2 = no list, or English-only generation; 1 = English only.
P6Free plan reality (10)5 = free generation and editable export, no card, no watermark, stated monthly allowance; 4 = free generation with a badged export or a small one-time pool (also where no allowance is stated); 3 = free generation without PowerPoint export; 2 = time-limited trial only; 1 = no free use documented.
P7Where it runs (10)5 = web plus inside PowerPoint or Google Slides plus an API, MCP server or connectors; 4 = web plus one of those; 3 = web plus desktop or mobile apps; 2 = web only, or a single host app.

Readings applied the same way to every row

Editing the native PowerPoint or Google Slides file counts as P1 5 (Copilot, Gemini in Slides). A .pptx of unstated editability gets 3 (Prezi). Without a stated monthly allowance, a free plan tops out at 4. A plugin inside ChatGPT counts as a connector for P7, for every vendor. App strings are not official pages, for anyone. A 1 means "not documented on the pages we opened". Our June 2026 hands-on test used a different method and is not added to these totals.

Where the gaps come from

  • NOXI − Canva = 18 points: P1 +8 (20 against 12), P2 +4 (20 against 16), P3 +6 (15 against 9); P4 to P7 are level. Check: 8 + 4 + 6 = 18.
  • Canva − Presentations.AI = 5 points, so only three alternatives total more than Canva on these rules.

How sensitive the order is

  • NOXI 89 for a deck started from an attached file, where research and source lines are off by default (P3 = 2: 490 − 45 = 445); the build-it flow below attaches a reference, so 89 is its number. NOXI 94 without the connector and plugin (P7 = 2). NOXI 90 if its in-app export notices were read as documented differences (P1 = 3); app messages are not official pages for any vendor.
  • Canva 78 if page mirroring is not read as right-to-left layout (P5 = 4); 76 if the pricing page's export row (PDF, JPG, PNG) is the full Free list (P6 = 3).
  • Copilot 81 without admin-enabled connectors (P7 = 4); 80 if a chart-source spreadsheet is not an import (P4 = 3). Either puts Gamma second.
  • Gamma 85 if its right-to-left troubleshooting line is read as layout (P5 = 5); 87 on the 11 October P1 reading.
  • Presentations.AI 69 if its FAQ's "eligible plans" outranks the pricing table (P1 = 3, P6 = 3). Beautiful.ai 77 on the 11 October P1 reading.
  • Prezi 68 if an editable PPTX is documented (P1 = 4); 66 if its right-to-left line is read as layout (P5 = 5); 62 without its ChatGPT plugin (P7 = 3).
  • Adobe Express 62 without the blog's slide re-generation and brand kit (P2 = 3); 64 without its connector (P7 = 3).
  • Figma Slides 56 if its help pages outrank the pricing table (P6 = 4); 55 without ChatGPT-app uploads (P4 = 2); 62 if the closed-beta agent or the Design/FigJam right-to-left article counted (P2 = 4 or P5 = 4). Visme 61 (P2 = 4) or 55 (P7 = 3).

No single reading moves an alternative above NOXI, or a fourth alternative above Canva.

When to stay with Canva: where it scores level or ahead

Stay with Canva if decks are one part of a wider design workload: Canva scores level with NOXI on four of seven rules and above seven of its ten alternatives, and its design library, Brand Kits, and social and video formats are not scored at all.

  • Imports (5). PowerPoint, Word and PDF up to 300 MB, Excel and CSV, and images under 50 MB [6].
  • Right-to-left (5). Translate can "Mirror page to match text direction to support right-to-left languages", and Canva AI for Presentations works in 20 languages including Arabic [6].
  • Free plan (5). "Create presentations" is included on Free with up to 20 AI uses a month; the download help lists PPTX for presentations with no plan restriction [3] [6].
  • Where it runs (4). Web and apps, plus AI connectors in external agents on every plan, including a Canva plugin in ChatGPT [3] [6].

Canva loses points on the PowerPoint file and on AI editing depth. Its help warns that "Designs downloaded as PPTX … may look different when opened in Microsoft Powerpoint" [6], and its AI documents three editing levels rather than four. For a row-by-row look at Canva against NOXI alone, see our head-to-head of the two.

Is Canva free for presentations?

Yes. Canva's pricing page lists "Create presentations" as included on Canva Free, with up to 20 uses of its Standard or Premium AI tools a month [3]. Canva AI for Presentations "is a premium AI tool that counts toward your monthly AI usage" [6]. "Design through conversation with AI" is unavailable on Free; Pro costs US$144 a year for one person, as shown to a US visitor on 27 October 2026.

Definition Magic Presentations (Canva AI for Presentations) is Canva's AI feature that drafts a whole presentation from a prompt, optionally with web research or data from a CSV file or Canva Sheets. Canva's help now calls it "Canva AI for Presentations" and counts each use toward the monthly AI allowance.

Free Canva alternatives for presentations: what each free plan really gives

NOXI, Gamma, Presentations.AI and Adobe Express document free AI generation with a PowerPoint download, and Figma Slides' pricing page ticks Starter for both; Copilot, Beautiful.ai and Gemini in Slides offer trials or paid plans only.

Matrix of free plans for Canva and ten alternatives on four questions: free AI generation, PowerPoint download on free, badge or watermark, and a stated monthly allowance. NOXI answers yes, an editable .pptx, no badge and 1,000 credits; Canva yes, a PPTX that may look different, badge not stated and 20 AI uses; Gamma yes, a PPTX with a badge and 400 one-time credits; Presentations.AI, Adobe Express and Figma Slides generate for free with no stated watermark; Prezi and Pitch generate but don't export on free; Copilot, Beautiful.ai and Gemini in Slides have trials or paid plans only.
"Free" covers very different things: only NOXI, Canva and, by its pricing page, Figma Slides document free generation, a PowerPoint download and a monthly allowance together.

Free AI Canva alternatives

With AI drafting on a free plan, the documented options are NOXI (a monthly allowance), Gamma, Presentations.AI and Prezi (one-time pools), Adobe Express (no stated cap) and Figma Slides (500 credits a month, per its pricing page). Credits differ by vendor, so compare decks per month, not credit numbers.

Canva alternatives free without login

None of the official pages we opened documents downloading a deck without an account. NOXI lets signed-out visitors generate a few decks; uploads and downloads need a free account, with no card.

Free Canva alternative apps for phones

Canva and Adobe Express have store apps; NOXI works in the phone browser for generating, editing with AI, presenting and sharing.

Canva alternatives with no AI: plain editors that still work

If you want to design slides by hand, Google Slides and PowerPoint for the web are free plain editors, and Pitch, Prezi and Figma Slides all work with their AI features left unused. This section is not scored.

  • Google Slides. "Anyone with a Google Account can create in Slides", and you can "Import Microsoft PowerPoint or Canva presentations" or edit a PowerPoint file directly without making a copy [13].
  • PowerPoint for the web. Microsoft offers "free access to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint" in the browser, with files saved in OneDrive [8]. Copilot is a paid addition.
  • Pitch. The free plan builds and presents decks in the browser; PowerPoint export is a premium feature [16].
  • Prezi. Basic gives you the zooming canvas for free, but content is public and download needs a paid plan [15].
  • Figma Slides. Starter includes three Slides files, and PowerPoint import and export are available on any plan [17].

Open-source desktop suites such as LibreOffice Impress and ONLYOFFICE also open and save .pptx files; our PowerPoint alternatives guide covers them, along with Keynote and Zoho Show.

Apps and sites like Canva, beyond presentations

For posters, social posts and video, the closest like-for-like tools are Adobe Express and Visme, with Figma for design teams; the presentation-first tools above don't try to replace Canva's full design range.

NOXI: our pick for editable PowerPoint decks built by AI

NOXI is our pick when a Canva user needs decks that open as editable PowerPoint files: it scores 5 on six of the seven rules and 4 on where it runs.

1. NOXI 98 / 100

Export (5). An editable PowerPoint (.pptx) with real text boxes and embedded fonts, Arabic included, or a PDF; free, no watermark. Editing (5). Change one slide or the whole deck in plain language, click any element and say what to change, or use Match reference to follow an uploaded deck's style; edit text, tables and chart numbers by hand. Research (5). Prompt-started decks are researched on the web first, and slides with figures carry a source line; with an attached file, research is off by default (89). Import (5). PDF, Word, Excel or CSV, PowerPoint and images, up to 200 MB per file. Languages (5). Full Arabic interface and right-to-left slides, where timelines and tables run right-to-left. Free plan (5). 1,000 credits a month; a deck uses about 25; no card. Where it runs (4). Browser on desktop and phone, a connector at noxi.ai/connect and a plugin in ChatGPT's plugin directory.

Best when: client or company decks must arrive as editable PowerPoint files, built from your brief, your own file or a deck whose style you like.

Canva and Adobe Express keep design, video and social formats in one editor; NOXI focuses on presentations: you present full-screen from NOXI or open the .pptx in PowerPoint.

Canva alternatives that also work inside ChatGPT

Canva's help describes a Canva plugin in ChatGPT, Prezi wrote on 9 October 2026 that it "is available as a plugin inside ChatGPT", and Adobe documents an Express connector in ChatGPT and Copilot [6] [14] [15]. NOXI was published in ChatGPT's plugin directory on 26 October 2026: install it from Plugins, connect your NOXI account and ask with @NOXI; the deck comes back in the chat with preview images and files. Our NOXI ChatGPT plugin announcement has the steps.

OpenAI says installing a plugin depends on your plan, your organisation's settings, your role and your region [19]; its apps launched on 6 October 2025 outside the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

PowerPoint with Copilot and Google Slides with Gemini: the native-file alternatives

PowerPoint with Copilot scores 83 and Google Slides with Gemini 66. Both earn full marks on export because they edit the native file; they lose points on free use and, for Gemini, on languages and where it runs.

2. PowerPoint with Copilot 83 / 100

Export (5). Copilot "generates or edits content directly within PowerPoint" [7]. Editing (5). A range of slides ("Update slides 4-6 for a UK audience"), one image, and a Brand Kit. Research (3). Sources cited in the response, not on the slide. Import (4). Word; PDF with a work account; a spreadsheet as a chart source; an image since July 2026. Languages (4). Arabic in the language list; no right-to-left layout statement. Free plan (2). A one-month Microsoft 365 trial. Where it runs (5). PowerPoint for Windows, Mac and the web, plus admin-enabled connectors.

Best when: the deck must stay a PowerPoint file and you already pay for Microsoft 365. Personal costs $99.99 a year or $9.99 a month.

The Canva alternative for PowerPoint users

If the problem with Canva is the PowerPoint file, build the deck in PowerPoint itself, or in a tool that documents an editable .pptx: NOXI on its free plan, Presentations.AI on the plans its pricing table ticks. Gamma, Beautiful.ai, Adobe Express, Pitch and Figma Slides document differences of their own.

6. Google Slides with Gemini 66 / 100

Export (5). "Create fully native and editable presentations with Gemini in Google Slides" (30 June 2026) [12]. Editing (4). One slide at a time, manual edits, and an existing deck as the style. Research (3). Web and Drive, sources in the side panel. Import (3). Drive files as references. Languages (2). "currently available on desktop and in English only". Free plan (2). Needs an eligible paid Google plan. Where it runs (2). Inside Google Slides, on desktop.

Best when: your team already pays for Google's plans, every deck lives in Drive and English is enough.

Gamma, Presentations.AI and Beautiful.ai: AI-first deck makers

Gamma (83), Presentations.AI (75) and Beautiful.ai (73) are built around AI drafting rather than a design library; each leads Canva on at least one rule.

3. Gamma 83 / 100

Export (3). PowerPoint and PDF, with a help section on "Export Limitations and Visual Differences"; on Free a "'Made by Gamma' badge appears on PDF and PPTX exports" [9]. Editing (5). "You can edit at any level, from your whole gamma down to a single element", plus templates. Research (4). "search the web and pull in citations"; placement not stated. Import (5). PPTX and DOCX up to 200 MB, PDF, Excel as CSV, images. Languages (4). Right-to-left languages including Arabic, text aligned right. Free plan (4). 400 credits at signup that don't refresh. Where it runs (4). Web plus an API and MCP server on any plan.

Best when: you want fast drafts of decks, documents and web pages. Plus is $9 a seat a month billed annually ($108 a year).

Is Gamma better than Canva for presentations?

On these rules Gamma totals 83 and Canva 80: Gamma leads on editing depth (+4) and research (+3), Canva on languages (+2) and the free plan (+2). Our Gamma vs Canva vs Beautiful.ai comparison covers the pair in depth.

4. Presentations.AI 75 / 100

Export (4). The pricing table ticks "PowerPoint / PDF Export" for every plan, and the FAQ describes editable .pptx on eligible plans [10]. Editing (4). Click any text, image or layout, or tell the AI; Brand Sync. Research (3). "up-to-date research pulled in as you generate", no citations. Import (4). Word, PDF, a URL, a Google Doc, Excel or PowerPoint. Languages (3). "more than 14 languages". Free plan (4). Starter $0, 200 credits. Where it runs (4). Web and a REST API.

Best when: decks start from documents or a website and you want an API. Pro is $20 a month billed annually.

5. Beautiful.ai 73 / 100

Export (3). Editable export on paid plans; without the fonts, "your export will be slightly different" [11]. Editing (4). Slide AI, an AI chat panel and a Brand Kit. Research (4). Since 1 July 2026, Enterprise users see the online sources behind AI claims. Import (3). Documents, PDFs or links. Languages (5). An RTL text toggle and right-to-left layouts. Free plan (2). A 14-day trial that requires a card. Where it runs (5). PowerPoint add-in, API and MCP connector.

Best when: self-adjusting layouts and a locked brand matter more than a free plan. Pro is $14.50 a month billed annually.

Adobe Express, Prezi, Pitch and Figma Slides: design-led alternatives

Adobe Express (66), Prezi (64), Pitch (61) and Figma Slides (58) work most like Canva: you design on a canvas, and AI is one feature among many. Most of their lost points are on the PowerPoint file and research with sources.

7. Adobe Express 66 / 100

Export (3). "Fonts from Adobe Express may appear differently in PowerPoint" (18 August 2026) [14]. Editing (4). Re-generate single slides, apply a brand kit, rewrite copy. Research (2). Uploads used as a reference, no sources shown. Import (4). "PDF, DOCX, PPTX, TXT, RTF, XLS, VTT, and web link formats", up to 10 documents. Languages (2). English and French only. Free plan (4). Generate presentation "available on Free", no card, no generative credits used; no allowance stated. Where it runs (4). Web, mobile and an Express connector in ChatGPT and Copilot.

Best when: you want a free AI first draft plus Adobe Stock assets, video and social formats. Premium is US$9.99 a month, as shown to a US fetch.

Is Adobe Express better than Canva for slides?

On these rules Canva totals 80 and Adobe Express 66: Canva leads on right-to-left mirroring (+6), research (+3), imports (+3) and its monthly AI allowance (+2); they are level on the other three. Check: 6 + 3 + 3 + 2 = 14. Our Canva vs Adobe Express comparison scores the pair on price and brand tools.

8. Prezi 64 / 100

Export (3, v). .pptx export since February 2026 with a slide version of every frame, on paid plans; editability not stated [15]. Editing (5). Rework a slide or palette by chat, AI on a selected text block, your brand guidelines. Research (1). Not documented. Import (3). "Drop in a PPTX, PDF, DOCX, or paste your notes." Languages (3). "any language supported by OpenAI", no list. Free plan (3). 500 AI credits, no download. Where it runs (4). Web, desktop app and a plugin in ChatGPT (9 October 2026).

Best when: the zooming, open-canvas format is the point. Standard is $5 a month billed annually, as shown on Prezi's pricing page.

9. Pitch 61 / 100

Export (3). A premium feature; charts "may look different" and fonts can fall back to Calibri [16]. Editing (4). Prompt, files and a template; quick actions on a selected block. Research (1). Not documented. Import (4). PDF, MD, TXT, CSV, images and PowerPoint. Languages (2). No generation-language list. Free plan (3). 100 lifetime credits; export on Plus. Where it runs (4). Web and an MCP server.

Best when: a sales or startup team builds, presents and tracks decks together. Plus is €10 a month paying yearly.

10. Figma Slides 58 / 100

Export (3). On any plan, but missing fonts switch to PowerPoint's default and "Live interactions and code blocks will be exported as static images" [17]. Editing (3). Rewrite a selected text layer; a template when Figma AI turns a FigJam board into a deck; the agent in Slides is closed beta. Research (1). Not documented for Slides. Import (3, v). PowerPoint, plus images or PDFs through the ChatGPT app. Languages (2). The right-to-left article covers Design and FigJam only. Free plan (5, v). The pricing page ticks Starter for Slides AI and PowerPoint export, with up to 500 AI credits a month; help pages say paid. Where it runs (4). Web, desktop and an MCP server.

Best when: designers already in Figma want auto layout, live polls and embedded prototypes. A Professional Full seat is $16 a month billed annually. More in our Figma Slides AI review.

Just below the ten: Visme (57). Its PowerPoint export "may not transfer perfectly", editable PPTX is on Business ($24.75 a month billed yearly), and Basic is $0 with downloads from Starter [18]. It leads on interactive content and analytics, which the rules don't score.

Chat assistants and add-ins instead of an editor

If you don't need an editor at all, chat-first assistants and in-file add-ins score on the same rules: ChatGPT 90, Genspark 89, Kimi Slides 88, Claude 87 and Plus AI 86 (Claude 83 if one of its four editing levels is not counted). They are outside this page's scope rule. All five total more than Canva's 80, mostly on the PowerPoint file, where each documents an editable .pptx or edits the file directly; none offers Canva's design library.

Moving your Canva decks to another tool

To move a Canva deck, download it as PowerPoint (.pptx), which Canva offers for presentations only, then open or import that file in the new tool. Expect fixes: Canva warns the file "may look different" in PowerPoint and that animations and videos may not play as expected [6].

  1. Download. In Canva, choose Share, then Download, and pick PPTX; download a PDF too as a visual reference.
  2. Check fonts. Install the deck's fonts on your computer, or replace them, before you edit in PowerPoint.
  3. Import. Google Slides imports PowerPoint and Canva presentations directly [13]; Gamma, Prezi, Pitch, Figma Slides and Adobe Express import .pptx files; NOXI takes the file through Beautify my deck, Create from file or Match reference.
  4. Rebuild if needed. If the import drifts, rebuild from the content in the new tool's layouts rather than repairing every slide.

Our guide to converting Canva to PowerPoint scores five methods and lists fixes for fonts, spacing and animations.

What these rules don't measure

These rules don't measure design range, templates, brand governance, social and video formats or presenting style, and Canva and several alternatives lead NOXI on those.

  • Canva: a very large design and template library, Brand Kits and Brand Templates, team design workflows, print, and video and social formats in the same editor, used by more than a quarter of a billion people every month.
  • PowerPoint with Copilot: it works inside the file Microsoft 365 users already have, with Brand Kit, Designer, Zoom and Morph, and organisations on Microsoft 365 have no new tool to approve.
  • Gamma: web publishing of decks, docs and sites, analytics and advanced sharing on Pro, and an API and MCP server on every plan.
  • Adobe Express: free Generate presentation with no generative credits, Adobe Stock and Firefly assets, and video and social formats.
  • Figma Slides: design mode with auto layout and team libraries, live polls, embedded prototypes, co-presenting and offline presenting.
  • Others: self-adjusting Smart Slides (Beautiful.ai), the zooming canvas (Prezi), team analytics (Pitch), Brand Sync and a REST API (Presentations.AI), interactive content and brand approvals (Visme).

Not measured for anyone: output quality, design taste, speed, invented figures, accessibility, comments and review, video and quizzes. NOXI's in-app export notices are not scored either; the sensitivity list shows their effect.

Definition Brand Kit is a saved set of a brand's logos, colours and fonts that a design tool applies to new designs, so every deck and post starts on brand. Canva, Copilot in PowerPoint, Beautiful.ai, Adobe Express and Visme all use the name; plans and limits differ by vendor.

Worked example: a three-person studio splits decks from design

Example Jonas Berg, a fictional owner of a three-person brand studio in Copenhagen, makes social visuals every week and four client pitch decks a month that clients edit in PowerPoint; clients report decks that look different from the Canva originals. Prices are the US prices shown on 27 October 2026.

OptionYearly costArithmeticSaving vs today
Today: 3 Canva Pro seatsUS$4323 × US$144—
A. Gamma Plus × 3$3243 × $108, billed annually$108 (25.0%)
B. Microsoft 365 Personal × 3$299.973 × $99.99$132.03 (30.6%)
C. NOXI + Canva Free for all three$04 decks × 25 credits = 100 of 1,000 a month$432 (100%)
D. NOXI + 1 Canva Pro seat, 2 on Canva FreeUS$1441 × US$144$288 (66.7%)

Check: 432 − 324 = 108, and 108 ÷ 432 = 0.250. 432 − 299.97 = 132.03, and 132.03 ÷ 432 = 0.3056, rounded to 30.6%. 432 − 144 = 288, and 288 ÷ 432 = 0.6667, rounded to 66.7%. Moving all three people to Canva's Business plan instead would cost 3 × US$250 = US$750 a year.

Option A keeps a PowerPoint export with documented visual differences; option B means rebuilding every deck in PowerPoint. Option C is cheapest but leaves the brand templates without a Pro seat.

His decision: option D. Client decks move to NOXI and download as editable PowerPoint with embedded fonts; one designer keeps Canva Pro for brand templates and social visuals, and two use Canva Free. The studio saves US$288 a year, 66.7%, and reviews the split on 1 April 2027.

Horizontal bar chart of one year's cost for a fictional three-person studio: three Canva Pro seats US$432, three Gamma Plus seats $324, three Microsoft 365 Personal plans $299.97, NOXI plus one Canva Pro seat US$144, and NOXI plus Canva Free $0. The chosen option, NOXI plus one Canva Pro seat, saves US$288 or 66.7%.
Keeping one Canva Pro seat for design and moving decks to NOXI cuts the studio's bill from US$432 to US$144 a year.
Definition Editable PPTX export means the downloaded PowerPoint file holds real text boxes, shapes and images you can change in PowerPoint, not pictures of slides. Only the vendor's own help page can state it; a .pptx whose vendor warns of differences or says nothing about editability scores 3 here.

Here are three slides from the deck NOXI built for this article's worked example, unedited.

Build it: recreate a Canva deck's style in NOXI with Match reference

If you like a deck you designed in Canva but need an editable PowerPoint on a new topic, NOXI's Match reference builds the new deck in that style. With an attached reference, web research is off by default, so your figures come from your brief.

Prompt 1 · New deck, Canva style

Use the attached [Canva deck] as the style reference: keep its colours, typography, layouts and visual rhythm. Build a [10]-slide pitch for [a regional coffee chain] about [our 2027 brand refresh], with every slide title written as a full-sentence finding, a cost slide with [three options] and a closing slide with [two decisions and a date].

Prompt 2 · Fix one slide

On slide [4], turn the three paragraphs into three numbered cards, keep the brand colour from the reference for the numbers, and cut the text to [25] words per card.

Prompt 3 · Whole-deck pass

Across all slides, make the headline sizes consistent, align every image to the same grid, and keep every figure exactly as written in my brief.

Step 1 — Download your Canva deck

In Canva, download the deck whose style you want to keep as a PDF or PowerPoint (.pptx) file.

Step 2 — Choose Match reference

Open noxi.ai, create a free account (no card needed) and choose Match reference on Home, under More.

Step 3 — Upload the reference and write the brief

Upload the Canva file as the style reference and put your new content in the brief, as in Prompt 1.

Step 4 — Watch the deck being built

NOXI designs the new deck in that style: colours, typography, layouts and visual rhythm. Watch each slide being built.

Step 5 — Edit by chat

Ask the AI to change one slide or the whole deck, or click any element and say what to change, as in Prompts 2 and 3.

Step 6 — Present, share or download

Present full-screen, share a view-only link, or download an editable PowerPoint (.pptx) with real text boxes and embedded fonts, or a PDF.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Canva alternative for presentations?
It depends on what Canva doesn't give you. On seven documented rules checked on 27 October 2026, NOXI scores 98, PowerPoint with Copilot and Gamma 83 each, and Presentations.AI 75; Canva itself scores 80. For an editable PowerPoint on a free plan, NOXI documents one; to stay inside PowerPoint, use Copilot.
Is there a free Canva alternative?
Yes. NOXI is free with 1,000 credits a month, no card and no watermark, and exports editable PowerPoint. Gamma gives 400 one-time credits with a badge on exports, Presentations.AI has a $0 Starter plan with 200 credits, and Adobe Express offers Generate presentation on its free plan. Google Slides is a free plain editor.
Which Canva alternative exports to PowerPoint?
All ten give you a PowerPoint file or edit a native slides file, but they document it differently. Copilot edits the PowerPoint file itself; NOXI documents an editable .pptx with real text boxes and embedded fonts, free; Presentations.AI ticks PowerPoint export on its plans. Gamma, Beautiful.ai, Adobe Express, Pitch and Figma Slides document visual differences in the file.
Is Google Slides a good Canva alternative?
For plain editing, yes: anyone with a Google Account can create in Slides, and it imports PowerPoint and Canva presentations. With Gemini it scores 66 here, because Gemini in Slides needs an eligible paid Google plan and is documented on desktop in English only. It creates native Google Slides files, so there is no export step.
Is Gamma better than Canva?
For AI-built decks, slightly: Gamma scores 83 and Canva 80 on these rules. Gamma leads on editing depth and cited research; Canva leads on right-to-left mirroring and its monthly free AI allowance. Both warn that exported PowerPoint files can differ. For design range, Brand Kits and social formats, Canva stays ahead.
Are there Canva alternatives without AI?
Yes. Google Slides and PowerPoint for the web are free editors you can use without any AI, and Pitch, Prezi and Figma Slides work with their AI features left unused. Open-source suites such as LibreOffice Impress and ONLYOFFICE also open and save PowerPoint files. These plain editors are not scored on this page.
Is Adobe Express better than Canva for slides?
Not on these rules: Canva scores 80 and Adobe Express 66. Adobe's Generate presentation is free and uses no generative credits, but it is documented in English and French only, and Adobe says fonts may appear differently in PowerPoint. Canva leads on right-to-left mirroring, research, imports and its monthly AI allowance.
Why do Canva decks look different in PowerPoint?
Canva's own help says designs downloaded as PPTX may look different in Microsoft PowerPoint, and animations and videos may not play as expected. Fonts that aren't installed on your computer get replaced, and effects without a PowerPoint equivalent change. Install the fonts first, or rebuild the deck in a tool that documents an editable .pptx.
Can I move my Canva presentations to another tool?
Yes. Download the presentation from Canva as a PPTX file, then import it into the new tool: Google Slides imports Canva and PowerPoint presentations, and Gamma, Prezi, Pitch, Figma Slides and Adobe Express import .pptx files. In NOXI you can upload it to Beautify my deck or use it as a style reference.
Is NOXI a Canva alternative?
For presentations, yes. NOXI scores 98 on these seven rules against Canva's 80, leading on editable PowerPoint export, editing depth and research with sources, and level on the other four. NOXI is built for decks, so teams that also make posters, social posts and video often keep Canva for that work.
