Is Canva free? Cover for a review of Canva's free plan in 2026: the 20 monthly AI uses, Canva for Education and Nonprofits, Pro and Business prices, PowerPoint export, and Canva's presentation features scored against Adobe Express and NOXI

Disclosure: NOXI publishes this page and is one of the tools scored. That's why the rules, weights and the source of every cell are printed, along with where NOXI loses points. The first half of the page is about Canva alone, from Canva's own pages.

Quick answer: Is Canva free? Yes. Canva Free costs US$0 and "is available to anyone", with up to 20 AI uses a month and 5GB of storage; only premium elements carry watermarks. Canva for Education is free for K-12 schools and Canva for Nonprofits for registered charities. Canva Pro costs US$144 a year (Canva's pricing page, checked 30 October 2026).

Canva's pricing page is geo-routed: we read the US view in US dollars, opened without signing in on 30 October 2026, with Canva's help centre, Learn and program pages.

Canva Free is a real free plan, not a trial. Its three limits are the monthly AI allowance (20 uses; generating a presentation with Canva AI uses one), premium content (watermarked until you buy the element or upgrade) and PowerPoint fidelity (a downloaded .pptx "may look different").

Canva's plan ladder as Canva's own pages describe it on 30 October 2026, US view: Free at US$0 with up to 20 Standard or Premium AI uses a month and 5GB; Pro at US$144 a year with up to 200 Premium uses; Business at US$250 a year per person with up to 400 Premium uses; and two free routes beside the ladder, Canva for Education for K-12 schools and Canva for Nonprofits for registered charities, each with 200 Premium uses.
Each step up the ladder multiplies the AI allowance; the two free side doors, Education and Nonprofits, start at the Pro level.

What the Free plan leaves out

  • Ultra AI tools: Canva's help lists "Conversational design with Canva AI 2.0" as an Ultra tool, and Free has "No access to Ultra AI tools" [2].
  • Premium content: premium templates, photos and graphics show a watermark on Free until you buy the element or upgrade [11].
  • Team and brand controls: brand templates, approvals, roles and team reports sit on the paid plans in the comparison table [1].
Definition Canva AI uses: Canva's shared monthly AI allowance. Standard tools (such as Magic Formulas) use the least, Premium tools (such as "Generate a design with Canva AI") more, and Ultra tools (conversational design with Canva AI 2.0) the most. On Free, Standard and Premium uses both count toward the same 20 [2].

How much is Canva Pro, and what happened to Canva Teams?

Canva Pro costs US$144 a year for one person and Canva Business US$250 a year per person on Canva's US pricing page, checked 30 October 2026, and Canva Teams "is no longer available for new sign-ups or upgrades" [1]. Existing Teams subscribers stay on their plan unless they switch or cancel; new paid features exclusive to Business won't come to Teams [1].

Canva Pro

Pro is for one person: "Only one person can use a Canva Pro account" [1]. It adds 3.6M+ templates, 141M+ premium photos, videos, graphics and audio, 5 Brand Kits, 100GB of storage and about ten times the Free AI allowance, which Canva's help states as up to 200 Premium uses or up to 20 Ultra uses a month [1][2]. Standard AI tools stop counting toward the allowance on paid plans [2].

Canva Business

Business is Canva's plan for "individuals and small teams" at US$250 a year per person, with collaboration and team admin tools, 100 Brand Kits with approvals, Flourish, 500GB of storage and up to 400 Premium or 40 Ultra AI uses a month [1][2]. Billing is pay-as-you-grow: you pay only for members who accept your invitation [1].

Canva Pro free trial

Canva's Learn page says "You can try Canva Pro for free with a 30-day trial" [3]. The pricing page adds: "AI allowance during trial is the same as Canva Free" [1]. Canva's help gives Pro trial users the Free allowance of 20 uses; the full allowance starts with the paid plan [1][2].

Monthly or yearly

The pricing page's billing toggle says yearly billing will "Save from 16%" but prints no monthly figures [1]. At the Learn page's US$18 month-to-month, a year of Pro costs 12 × US$18 = US$216, against US$144 billed yearly: yearly billing saves US$72, or 33.3% (US$72 ÷ US$216 = 0.333) [1][3].

For the prices of other presentation tools on one page, our Canva alternatives for presentations ranking lists ten tools with their free plans.

Is Canva Pro free for students and teachers?

Yes for K-12: Canva for Education is "100% free" for "K-12 (primary and secondary) educators", their students and qualified school districts, with most premium features and up to 200 Premium AI uses a month, per Canva's pages checked 30 October 2026 [2][4]. University students are a different case: Canva's Education page does not extend the free offer to higher education.

Teachers

Teachers sign up with a school email address or proof of employment, and Canva says it verifies within a few days [4]. The plan adds assignments shared with students, educational templates and integrations with Canvas, Google Classroom, Moodle and Microsoft Teams, and Canva says it will remain free for K-12 [4].

School students

K-12 students cannot sign up for Canva for Education on their own: a teacher invites them from the teacher's Education account [4]. A student without a teacher invite uses Canva Free like anyone else.

College and university students

The Education page's Higher education section promotes Canva "for your whole Campus" to institutions, with no price, and the pricing FAQ points universities to Canva Campus, also unpriced [1][4]. So a college student's free route on 30 October 2026 is Canva Free, unless the university provides access. Our best AI tools for students page lists the student offers other vendors print.

Definition K-12: primary and secondary schooling, from kindergarten to the final year of high school (grade 12). It is the eligibility line Canva for Education uses; colleges and universities sit outside it [4].

Is Canva free for nonprofits?

Yes, for registered charities: Canva for Nonprofits is "100% free for registered nonprofits" and gives all Canva Pro features plus team tools to one team of up to 50 users; extra seats are 50% off Canva Enterprise, per Canva's page checked 30 October 2026 [5].

  • Who qualifies: "registered nonprofits, NGOs, and social impact organizations" with a stated charitable mission, registered as charitable (for example a 501(c)(3) in the US), independent from government and not run for profit [5].
  • Who does not: government agencies, political organisations, educational institutions, for-profit companies, most other 501(c) types and grant-making foundations [5].
  • How: apply through the program page. Canva verifies applications with its partner Goodstack, requirements and documents vary by country, and participation is "subject to review" and decided at Canva's discretion; no approval time is stated [5][29].
  • AI: nonprofit members get the Pro-level allowance, up to 200 Premium or 20 Ultra uses each a month, reset on the billing date [2].

For a 4-person charity team that Canva accepts, the program replaces Canva Business at 4 × US$250 = US$1,000 a year with US$0, the case in our worked example [1][5].

Is Canva AI free? The 20-use monthly allowance

Canva AI is free up to a limit: Canva Free includes "Up to 20 Standard or Premium AI uses" a month, shared across Canva's AI tools and reset at 12:00 a.m. UTC on the first of each month, per Canva's pricing page and help checked 30 October 2026 [1][2]. Conversational design with Canva AI 2.0 is an Ultra tool and is not on Free [2].

AI tierExamples in Canva's helpOn Canva Free
StandardImage Upscaler, Magic Formulas [2]Counts toward the 20 (on paid plans it does not) [2]
Premium"Generate a design with Canva AI", create an image, Canva Code, Magic Layers [2]Counts toward the 20 [2]
Ultra"Conversational design with Canva AI 2.0", video clips [2]Not available [2]

The 20 is an estimate for simple tasks; "complex tasks use more allowance, so actual usage may be lower" [1]. At the limit, Free accounts see "short pauses between generations" for Standard and Premium tools until the reset [2].

Is Canva AI free for PPT?

Generating a presentation is "Generate a design with Canva AI", a Premium tool, so each deck uses part of the 20 [2]. Four decks with four AI edits each use at least 4 + 4 × 4 = 20 uses, the whole simple-task estimate. Edits by hand cost nothing.

Languages

Canva's pricing FAQ says Canva AI supports 17 languages, Arabic among them, alongside English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Hindi [1]. The help page adds that "Some features may support fewer languages" [6].

Can Canva make a presentation? Canva AI step by step

Yes: Canva AI (formerly Magic Design for presentations) builds a draft deck from a typed or spoken prompt, and on Canva Free each generation draws on the 20 monthly AI uses, per Canva's help checked 30 October 2026 [2][6]. These are the steps Canva's help gives.

StepWhat to do in CanvaWhat Canva's help says
1From the homepage, select Canva AI in the side navigationThe same steps work on desktop and mobile [6]
2Describe the presentation you want, or tap the microphone and speak the prompt"Describe what you want to create" [6]
3Optional: use the plus icon to Upload a file, Add from Canva, Apply brand or Connect"Add files to give Canva AI more context" [6]
4Submit, then open the result in the editor (directly, or by selecting the design and choosing Edit)The route depends on the design type [6]
5Refine in the Canva AI side panel, or edit by hand"refining your whole design" and "keeping your designs on brand" [6]

Canva's help lists "Use Web Research for richer, up-to-date results" among the Canva AI 2.0 benefits, which come with Pro, Teams, Business and Nonprofit plans [6]. An older Canva page still describes Magic Design with its own limit; the pricing page decides, with 20 uses [1].

Can Canva AI make a presentation from a PDF?

Canva AI accepts uploaded files as context through the plus icon [6]. Canva's upload help sets the file limits: PowerPoint, Word and PDF files up to 300MB (PDF up to 500 pages), Excel and CSV up to 100MB, and images under 50MB [9]. That is all five file types our import rule asks for, with stated limits.

Can Canva export to PowerPoint?

Yes: Canva's download help lists PPTX as a download type for presentations, with no plan named, and warns that the file "may look different when opened in Microsoft Powerpoint", per the page checked 30 October 2026 [7]. You "may need to make edits, or download and install the fonts", and "Animations and embedded videos are not yet supported" [7].

One sensitivity on the Free plan: the pricing page's comparison row reads "Export designs as PDF, JPG, PNG" and does not name PowerPoint, while the download help names PPTX without a plan gate [1][7]. We score Canva on the help page, which is more specific, and print the stricter reading as a sensitivity line in the scores below (Canva 76).

Bringing PowerPoint into Canva

Canva's PowerPoint import is labelled a beta, takes files up to 300 slides, and says charts and SmartArt "aren't supported" [8]. Our guide to moving a Canva deck into PowerPoint scores five ways to convert and what each keeps.

A five-minute check before you send a Canva .pptx

  • Open the file in PowerPoint on the machine that will present it, and look at every heading for a substituted font [7].
  • Replace any embedded video with a link or a separate file, and recheck slides that used animations [7].

Canva watermarks and commercial use on the Free plan

Canva Free adds watermarks only to premium elements: "Premium elements will have watermarks on your design if you're a Canva Free user", and Canva's help names two official ways to remove them, buying the element or upgrading, per the help page checked 30 October 2026 [11].

  • Buy the element: download the design and pay for the premium elements in it, or select "Remove watermarks" on one element to buy only that one. A purchased element is licensed for the design you bought it for [11].
  • Upgrade: a paid plan such as Pro gives access to the premium library with no per-element purchase [11].
  • Choose free elements: designs built only from free templates, photos and graphics download without watermarks [11].

Tricks sold as "remove the Canva watermark" (cropping, screenshots, cracked accounts) break the licence for the element and Canva's terms; this page lists only Canva's own routes.

Is Canva free for business use?

Canva Free is available to anyone, businesses included, and Canva's content licence says "Free Content has fewer restrictions than Pro Content" [1][12]. Read the licence for your use, especially for logos, trademarks and items you will sell, because both free and Pro content carry conditions [12].

Definition Premium element: a template, photo, graphic, video or audio item from Canva's paid library. On Canva Free it can be placed in a design but shows a watermark until it is bought or the account is upgraded [11].

How we compared Canva, Adobe Express and NOXI for presentations

Canva, Adobe Express and NOXI were scored on documented capability for making a presentation: seven criteria, one written rule each, applied the same way to every row. We re-applied the rules of our AI presentation tools ranking on 30 October 2026 [22]; the numbers on this page are this page's own.

Method Scored on documented capability from official vendor pages opened on 30 October 2026. Not a new hands-on test. Weighted score = rating ÷ 5 × weight; weights total 100. Where two official pages of one vendor disagree, the vendor's pricing/plan page decides; where help pages disagree, the lower reading is used; where an official page is silent, the lower anchor is used, and the alternative total is printed as a sensitivity line. When a feature-specific page limits the deck generator's languages, it takes precedence over a general app-language list. Ties are broken on the heaviest criterion, then the next criterion in the table's order.

Changed recently (checked 30 October 2026): Canva's pricing page now says Canva Teams is no longer available for new sign-ups, with Canva Business as the team plan; Canva Free lists up to 20 Standard or Premium AI uses a month; Canva's deck feature is called Canva AI; Adobe's help says its Generate presentation feature is "currently available in English and French" [1][17].

The Canva row is copied from our shared rubric P table, every cell re-opened on 30 October 2026 (it holds at 80); Adobe Express is a new row. A ChatGPT plugin, MCP server, API or connector set counts as a connector under P7.

Canva, Adobe Express and NOXI on seven presentation rules

On the seven rules, NOXI scores 98, Canva 80 and Adobe Express 70. NOXI scores highest on these seven rules; Canva ties NOXI on import, languages, the free plan and where it runs, and Adobe Express ties NOXI on editing depth and where it runs.

The gaps, explained

NOXI minus Canva = 18. NOXI gains on P1 (+8, a free editable export without a documented font warning), P2 (+4, slide-level AI edits documented) and P3 (+6, sources on the slide); they are level on P4, P5, P6 and P7. Check: 8 + 4 + 6 = 18 = 98 − 80.

NOXI minus Adobe Express = 28. NOXI gains on P1 (+8), P3 (+9), P4 (+3), P5 (+6) and P6 (+2); they are level on P2 and P7. Check: 8 + 9 + 3 + 6 + 2 = 28 = 98 − 70.

Canva minus Adobe Express = 10. Canva gains on P3 (+3), P4 (+3), P5 (+6) and P6 (+2); Adobe Express gains on P2 (−4) with its slide-level and brand-kit editing. Check: 3 + 3 + 6 + 2 − 4 = 10 = 80 − 70.

Why Adobe Express gets 2 on languages

Adobe's app-language list (1 September 2026) names Arabic, and the release notes describe a right-to-left interface, but the scored feature's own page says "Generate presentation is currently available in English and French." [17][20][21]. Our rule takes the feature-specific page, so P5 is 2 and the total is 70.

What would change the result

  • Canva 82 if its Google Workspace add-on counted as inside Google Slides (P7 = 5); it only makes smart chips that preview links.
  • Canva 78 if page mirroring were not read as right-to-left layout (P5 = 4).
  • Canva 76 if the pricing row "Export designs as PDF, JPG, PNG" were the full Free export list (P6 = 3) [1].
  • Canva 77 if the Canva AI attach menu had to name the file types (P4 = 4).
  • Adobe Express 74 if the app-language list decided (P5 = 4); 76 if the right-to-left interface counted as layout (P5 = 5); 66 if the AI Assistant's brand action were not counted (P2 = 4).
  • NOXI 89 for a deck started from an attached file, where research and source lines are off by default (P3 = 2).

The order holds in every line: Canva's highest reading, 82, and Adobe's highest, 76, stay below NOXI's lowest, 89.

Who should pick what

Six routes fit six jobs, each with its documented fact; our presentation software ranking scores 15 apps.

  • If you teach K-12 → Canva for Education, because Canva calls it "100% free" for K-12 educators and their students, with up to 200 Premium AI uses a month [2][4].
  • If you work for a registered charity → Canva for Nonprofits, because it gives all Pro features free to one team of up to 50 users [5].
  • If you design flyers, social posts and video on a US$0 budget → Canva Free, because it offers 1.6M+ templates, 5GB and up to 20 AI uses a month to anyone [1].
  • If you want to turn up to 10 source documents into an English or French deck and work with Adobe Stock → Adobe Express, because its generator takes "up to 10 documents" and Premium costs US$9.99 a month [15][17].
  • If your deck must open in PowerPoint and stay editable → NOXI, because it exports an editable .pptx with real text boxes and embedded fonts, free and with no watermark, on 1,000 credits a month (a deck uses about 25) [23].
  • If you need PowerPoint itself at no cost → PowerPoint for the web, because Microsoft says it "is free for anyone to use online" with a Microsoft account; our ten free PowerPoint routes compares it with nine others [27].

The quotable rule: choose Canva Free for templates and visual design, Canva for Education if you teach K-12, Canva for Nonprofits if you run a registered charity, and NOXI when you want a researched, editable PowerPoint deck free every month; on our presentation rules NOXI scores 98, Canva 80 and Adobe Express 70 (checked 30 October 2026).

Adobe Express for presentations: the free plan and the generator

Adobe Express is free to use with "No credit card required", lists Generate Presentations as "Limited free use" on Free, and charges US$9.99 a month for Premium with 250 generative credits, per Adobe's US pricing page checked 30 October 2026 [15]. Adobe's credits FAQ says Generate Presentation does "not currently consume generative credits" [26].

The generator reads up to 10 documents (PDF, DOCX, PPTX, TXT, RTF, XLS, VTT) as the reference for a deck; you can re-generate slides, apply your brand kit, and export a PowerPoint whose fonts "may appear differently" [16][17][18]. Adobe's pricing page is geo-routed like Canva's; we read the US view. For a full head-to-head of the two design suites, prices and AI tools beyond presentations, see our Canva and Adobe Express comparison.

Worked example: a food-bank charity splits Canva for Nonprofits and NOXI

A 4-person charity team that designs weekly flyers and a monthly board deck pays US$0 a year, once Canva accepts it, by using Canva for Nonprofits for design and NOXI for the PowerPoint donor update, against US$1,000 a year for Canva Business for four people.

Example Grace Okafor is a fictional communications lead at Okafor Food Bank (also fictional), a registered food-bank charity in Lagos. Her team of 4 designs flyers and social posts every week, and the board wants a donor update as an editable PowerPoint on the 1st of each month. She decides on 30 October 2026. Prices are from Canva's US pricing page, opened 30 October 2026. Whether a Nigerian charity qualifies is decided by Canva, country by country, under its eligibility guidelines; this example assumes Canva accepts the application [1][5][29].

Step 1: the design work goes to Canva for Nonprofits

A team plan for 4 people is Canva Business at 4 × US$250 = US$1,000 a year; Pro covers one person [1]. Canva for Nonprofits gives the team all Pro features for US$0, with up to 200 Premium AI uses each a month [2][5].

Step 2: the donor deck goes to NOXI

The board's treasurer edits the deck in PowerPoint, and Canva's help warns a downloaded .pptx may need font fixes [7]. Grace types her month's figures into a NOXI brief, so NOXI researches the context and figure slides carry a source line, then downloads an editable .pptx with embedded fonts [23].

The gap equals about 3,083 meals (3,700,000 ÷ 1,200 = 3,083.3), which becomes the deck's single ask.

Step 4: the costs side by side

OptionArithmeticCost a year
Canva Business for 44 × US$250 [1]US$1,000
Canva Pro for Grace only1 × US$144; the other 3 stay on Free [1]US$144
Canva for Nonprofits + NOXICanva US$0 for the team of 4 [5]; NOXI 12 decks × 25 credits = 300 of the 12,000 credits a year (2.5%) [23]US$0
Grace Okafor's fictional split, with prices from Canva's US pricing page opened 30 October 2026: the 4-person team's flyers and social posts go to Canva for Nonprofits at US$0, assuming Canva accepts the charity, instead of Canva Business at US$1,000 a year, and the monthly board donor update goes to NOXI as an editable PowerPoint, using 25 of 1,000 free credits a month.
Design in Canva for Nonprofits, the board's PowerPoint in NOXI: US$0 a year instead of US$1,000.

Step 5: the decision

Grace applies for Canva for Nonprofits and builds each donor update in NOXI (25 of 1,000 credits a month), avoiding US$1,000 a year once Canva approves the charity. If Canva declines it, Pro for Grace alone (US$144) is the next line in the table. She reviews the split on 1 February 2027.

What these rules don't measure

The seven rules score presentations, not design suites, so many of Canva's and Adobe's real strengths score nothing here.

  • Canva: a visual library of 1.6M+ templates on Free and 141M+ premium items on Pro; video, social, print, whiteboards, Docs, Sheets and websites in one editor; Brand Kits from the Free plan up; real-time collaboration and comments; Affinity access; desktop apps for Windows and phone apps for iOS and Android; classroom features and learning-platform integrations in Canva for Education [1][4][28].
  • Adobe Express: Adobe Stock content (200M+ items on Premium), generative features Adobe describes as designed to be commercially safe, PDF quick actions, and connections to Photoshop and the Creative Cloud libraries [15].
  • Price of paid tiers: Adobe Express Premium at US$9.99 a month and Canva Pro at US$144 a year buy stock and design libraries that sit outside these rules; P6 scores only the free plan [1][15].
  • Not measured for anyone: design quality and taste, speed, how often a tool invents a figure, accessibility, and team review workflows.

Where others lead NOXI, in plain terms: Canva and Adobe Express are complete design suites with stock libraries, video and print; NOXI builds presentations. Canva offers desktop and phone apps; NOXI runs in the browser on desktop and phone, where you can edit by AI chat.

Where NOXI fits next to Canva

NOXI fits one job next to Canva: a researched deck that arrives as an editable PowerPoint with embedded fonts and no watermark, on a free allowance of 1,000 credits a month. NOXI scores highest on these seven rules (98 against Canva's 80), and it is our pick for people who live in Canva for design but owe someone a PowerPoint file.

Describe your topic and NOXI builds the full deck; you can review the outline first or generate straight away. When you start from a prompt, NOXI researches the topic on the web first, and slides with figures carry a source line [23]. You can also upload a PDF, Word, Excel or CSV file, PowerPoint or image, up to 200 MB, or use Match reference to restyle a deck in the look of one you like. Ask the AI to change one slide or the whole deck, in English or Arabic, or click any element and say what to change.

Download an editable PowerPoint (.pptx), free and with no watermark: NOXI's own export engine writes real text boxes and embeds the fonts, Arabic included. Export a PDF, present full-screen, share a link, or invite people by email to edit together in real time. Your presentations, prompts and files are not used to train AI models [23]. Our earlier head-to-head of NOXI and Canva covers the June 2026 hands-on test.

Three prompts for Canva users in NOXI

Prompt 1 · A monthly update from your figures

"Build a [number]-slide donor update for [organisation] for [month]: meals or services delivered [figure], donations received [amount], where the money went [three lines with amounts], cost per [unit], what we need next month [amount], how to give. One finding per slide with a full-sentence title, and a source line on any slide with outside figures."

Prompt 2 · Restyle a Canva download

"Use the attached deck as the content and the second attached file as the style reference: keep every slide, number and name, apply the reference's colours, typography and layouts, and make every title a full sentence."

Prompt 3 · A researched briefing

"Make a [number]-slide briefing on [topic] for [audience] in [country]: research the latest public figures, one chart where the numbers compare, a source line on every slide with a figure, and a closing slide with three decisions for [audience]."

Build it: a donor-update deck in NOXI with Plan mode

To build Grace's donor update, describe the deck on NOXI Home with your month's figures, choose Plan mode to review the outline first, then generate, edit by chat and download an editable PowerPoint. This flow starts from a prompt, so research and source lines are on: the case where NOXI scores 98 on our rules.

Step 1 — Sign in to NOXI with a free account

Open noxi.ai and sign in or create a free account; exports need one. No card is needed, and each account gets 1,000 credits a month.

Step 2 — Describe the deck with your figures

On NOXI Home, type the brief, for example "Okafor Food Bank donor update, November: 18,500 meals to 1,150 families in October, ₦25,000,000 donated, cost per meal ₦1,200, December gap ₦3,700,000, 9 slides".

Step 3 — Choose Plan mode to review the outline first

Select Plan (outline first) instead of Instant. NOXI shows the outline before any slide is drawn, so you can check for 9 slides with one finding per title.

Step 4 — Edit the outline, then generate

Fix titles, order and numbers in the outline, then generate. NOXI researches the topic on the web first and puts a source line on slides with outside figures; watch each slide being built.

Step 5 — Edit by chat

Ask the AI to change one slide or the whole deck in plain language, for example "make slide 5 a chart of where the money went", or click an element and say what to change.

Step 6 — Download an editable PowerPoint or a PDF

Download the deck as an editable PowerPoint (.pptx) with real text boxes and embedded fonts, free and with no watermark, or as a PDF, and send it to the board.

Is Canva free? FAQ

Is Canva free?
Yes. Canva Free costs US$0 and is available to anyone, with 1.6M+ templates, 5GB of storage and up to 20 Standard or Premium AI uses a month, on Canva's US pricing page checked 30 October 2026. Premium elements show watermarks until you buy them or upgrade. Canva Pro costs US$144 a year for one person.
Is Canva free for students?
For K-12 school students, yes: Canva for Education is free when a teacher invites them from a verified Education account, checked 30 October 2026. Canva's Education page does not extend that free access to universities and points higher education to campus-wide plans without a price, so college students use Canva Free unless their university provides access.
Is Canva Pro free for teachers?
K-12 teachers get Canva for Education, which Canva calls 100% free, with most premium features, classroom tools and up to 200 Premium AI uses a month, per Canva's pages checked 30 October 2026. Teachers verify with a school email or proof of employment, and Canva says verification takes a few days.
Is Canva free for nonprofits?
Yes for registered charities: Canva for Nonprofits gives all Canva Pro features free to one team of up to 50 users, with extra seats 50% off Canva Enterprise, checked 30 October 2026. Government agencies, political organisations, educational institutions and grant-making foundations are excluded; requirements vary by country, and Canva decides each application.
Is Canva AI free?
Up to a limit. Canva Free includes up to 20 Standard or Premium AI uses a month, reset at midnight UTC on the 1st, per Canva's pricing page and help checked 30 October 2026. Generating a design with Canva AI is a Premium use. Conversational design with Canva AI 2.0 is an Ultra tool and is not on Free.
How much is Canva Pro?
Canva Pro costs US$144 a year for one person on Canva's US pricing page, checked 30 October 2026; Canva's Learn page lists US$18 month-to-month and a 30-day free trial. During the trial the AI allowance is the same as Canva Free. Canva Business costs US$250 a year per person and replaces Canva Teams for new sign-ups.
Can Canva make a presentation for me?
Yes. Select Canva AI on the homepage, describe the presentation or speak the prompt, optionally upload files, and open the draft in the editor, per Canva's help checked 30 October 2026. On Canva Free each generation uses part of the 20 monthly AI uses. On our seven presentation rules Canva scores 80, NOXI 98 and Adobe Express 70.
Can Canva export to PowerPoint?
Yes. Canva's download help lists PPTX for presentations with no plan named, checked 30 October 2026, but warns the file may look different in PowerPoint, may need fonts installed, and drops animations and embedded videos. The pricing page's Free export row names only PDF, JPG and PNG, which we print as a sensitivity line (Canva 76).
Why do I see watermarks on Canva Free?
Canva Free shows watermarks only on premium elements, per Canva's help checked 30 October 2026. Canva's two official ways to remove them are buying the element, for the whole design or one element at a time, or upgrading to a paid plan. Designs built only from free elements download without watermarks.
How is NOXI different from Canva?
NOXI builds presentations: it researches prompt-started decks with source lines on figure slides and exports an editable PowerPoint with embedded fonts and no watermark, free on 1,000 credits a month. Canva is a full design suite with 1.6M+ free templates, video and print. On seven presentation rules, checked 30 October 2026, NOXI scores 98 and Canva 80.
